With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Next up is Athletico Timbo’s RMT.

Krul, Mannone
Cahill, Terry, Ben Davies, Wisdom, Moore
Mata, Eriksen, Ramsey, Sigurdsson, Albrighton
Rooney, Dzeko, Adebayor.

0.5 in the bank

Timbo tells us he is  happy with his midfield and attack but has major concerns at the back. John Terry and Gary Cahill are season keepers, and he feels they will play every week  but it’s the third defensive spot that worries him. Ideally he’d like another constant to play every week alongside his Chelsea duo so that he can use those precious transfers for more pressing matters, like jumping on the right bandwagons at the right time. He could be persuaded to have a couple of rotating cheap defenders instead of Ben Davies and Liam Moore – there’s a spare half a million floating around if that helps. Lastly, his goalkeeping combo seems to be collapsing around his ears. Is it too risky to stick with Vito Mannone? Should he go with David De Gea or is there something better out there?

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

Don't really like Lovren (Liverpool defence are cack), Smalling (go for Evans IMO, less likely to lose his place if United sign Verm) and Besic isn't really fantasy material.

Defence is a bit lightweight, however that can be sorted out when your team value increases. With a front line/midfield like that I don't think you'll have any problems scoring some high weekly points.

    BDavies, Terry, Ward (Naylor, Wisdom)
    Fab, Siggy, Rambo, Arnie (Albrigton)

Maybe switch Naylor for a team that rotates better with Palace, I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think Hull rotate? If so, Chester.

Rest looks strong. Remember to keep an eye on Mannone/Pantilimon, Mannone yet to start a pre season yet I think.

I'd stick with Dzeko, should be a starter for the first few weeks, check the Comm Shield to be sure.

Lukaku could have a slow start with Arsenal and Chels in first 3 games along with a WC hangover and little pre season time. I personally prefer Eriksen to Sterling, free kicks, corners and more nailed on. Plus he plays no 10 more often.

Fabregas since you have Rooney, although I'd check the Chelsea-R. Sociedad friendly on Tuesday to see where Fab plays, Hazard and maybe Oscar/Willian will be back, if he plays double pivot I'd give him a miss for now

is that Begovic and a 4.0? that's fine

Evans seems to be more nailed on than PJones (LVG likes Evans the papers say; and since ManU are rumored to be in the market for more players, this is a consideration)

You have two 4.0s and Shawcross playing at Manchester City week 3.

With Puncheon, Siggy & Bojan, are you planning some sort of 3-way rotation?

I like the mid/fwd line a lot - looking very nice. I'm not so sure about the defense, though you probably don't need to be told. Duff, wisdom and Mariappa all have question marks (though are more likely than not to start).

Not sure about the Manonne/Krul rotation, in particular b/c Sunderland's first choice keeper is still undetermined so Manonne may not play, or may be dropped without warning.

Unless Vlaar changes team, you need to get rid of him before week 4 (ugly fixtures therafter); I like his first three fixtures.

Bartley is doubtful a good 4.0, but its still in the realm of the possible.

Ince is not nailed on at all. Too much competition for Hull mids.

      Like Dzeko better than Grioud.

I'm not going to lie - I quite like this:

    Speroni (Gilks)
    Luis Evans Begovic (Bartley) (Wisdom)
    Sanchez Hazard Mata Siggy (Wanyama)
    Rooney Costa Fletcher

I know some people will question the fletcher pick, and I'm not entirely convinced either, but I can see the Bojan-wagon failing catastrophically, and it is only injury which has prevented fletcher from being a real standout player for s'land.

    Alternatively, opinions:

    A) Hazard Fletcher Luis
    B) Fabregas Austin Cahill

    All thoughts appreciated.

As above the Stoke defence is giving me sleepless nights I have no real fallback option as will be playing Evans and Luis so ideally need my Stoke defender to start (other defenders are 2 4s Wisdom plus 1 of Moore/Bartley)

Must say out of your options I think I like B more all in all it looks a very solid effort.

I think your team looks good, but i would take option B over A. Over the last 6 months, Hazard was not that outstanding, and I think Fabregas will do as many points as him, while for me, Cahill is a stronget pick than Filipe Luis.

I think Fletcher is a good choice, he actually scored many many goals and it's true that his injuries robbed him too much time on the pitch.

Austin is and unknown quality in the premier league, and I think he might struggle.

Thank you for your feedback. So you would advocate Cahill + Fab then, with Fletcher retained. I suppose the main advantage of having Hazard is that it gives me more flexibility to downgrade to mid-priced mid and upgrade fletcher if that goes wrong. H/ever I do agree that Cahill is the better option. Cheers.

Long term in think Hazard is a better pick than Fab, however all things being considered and Fab on set pieces and more pre season minutes compared to Hazard he should have built up a greater fitness level, so think it's sensible to start with Fab and maybe switch after a few weeks if necessary

Because the explosive potential of costa (short term) based on his first 2 fixtures, I believe surpasses the points you might gain from Sanchez over Ramsey or fab over siggy. Then again, the same argument could easily be made the other way round - it just depends on how well you think Costa will score really. Plus, it's a lot easier to downgrade costa after the first 2 weeks if he has started poorly, and then upgrade siggy etc. than it is to try and bring him in after a hot start. Just my 2 cents.

I just can't get pass Sanchez incredible OOP potential. For me its too strong to let it pass. On the other hand, depending on fixtures, if he doesn't return what you expect of him, you can always downgrade to Ramsey.

Costa on the other hand, I personally think will struggle a little bit, especially in the beginning. He has suffered from injuries in the last part of the season with Atlético, and i think he will not hit the ground running in FPL scoring terms.

So, it has to be A for me.

If you're going to go light in defence I think you'd be better off working out a decent rotation and cover from players who are a bit more secure. Right now I don't rate either Wisdom or Bartley's starting chances, and Bavis isn't nailed either - I'd be inclined to work something in the structure 5.0 and 4 x 4.5.

Hello guys, a repost that got lost on a previous page. Thanks for your time!

My team so far is looking like this:

    Begovic (Gilks)
    Chambers Jones Cahill (Chester Wisdom)
    Sigurdsson Sanchez Fabregas Mata (Wanyama)
    Rooney Giroud Jovetic

I'm considering switching to a 3-5-2 formation like this:

    Begovic (Gilks)
    Chambers Jones Cahill (Chester Wisdom)
    Sigurdsson Sanchez Fabregas Mata Eriksen
    Rooney Jovetic (Wood)

+0.5 in the bank that could be used in the first transfer is it's necessary.

I'm thinking Eriksen might score more points that Giroud, at least in the short term, then i could always downgrade one of the mids if some other striker goes on a scoring spree.

What do you reckon, which team do you prefer?

    Thanks in advance!

I prefer the structure in A, but I don't like the Chambers or Jovetic picks in either.

Chambers is there as he will probably play in the first and even second GW, and i could easely transfer him to get another palying 4.5 defender then.

Jovetic on the other hand is my gamble over Dzeko as he is a very good player and bar injuries, I think is better than Dzeko, and more suited to Pellegrini's style.

Still, those are the 2 points of discussion and i will probably come back to them as i finish my 435th draft 😀

I tend to shy away from Jovetic-like gambles so it's probably just a personal thing with that pick. Other than those two questions it does look really strong though.

      GK fine

      Defense:

Caulker & Ward rotated well home & away early doors

Clyne you can play every week from weeks 2 to 12 (if i recall right)

PVA is at Sunderland and playable sometimes

Moore is at Leicester and you don't want to play him

So, I'm confused who you start week 1, and how this rotationally works even for the first 3 weeks before the first international break.

      Midfield & Strikers

6 big guns including 2 from ManU looks good... and then Bojan & Davis. If Bojan doesn't work out well, you should have a plan for restoring balance to your team that doesn't involve a wildcard.

This would be my lineup for GW1:

        De Gea
van Aanholt // Caulker // Moore
Hazard // Mata // Eriksen // Sánchez (vc)
        Bojan // Rooney (c) // Dzeko

        (Gilks // Davis // Clyne // Ward)

Moore should start, has had plenty of gametime over preseason, attacking and scored last week. As you say, Clyne will be played every week from GW2 through to 12. van Aanholt seems to be nailed from comments on here, attacking too, which is the main thing. Caulker is Caulker and rotates with Ward.

As for Bojan it is between him and Davis or Austin and Albrighton. I could do Eriksen to Siggy and upgrade them both I guess.

Well, you've thought it through . If you were too downgrade someone, I would still keep Eriksen for now. If his point tallies continue like last season and he is nailed on, then he is one of the more underpriced players this year

Hey guys, this is just my second season but I'm pretty keen on tearing into my team mates this year.
So please RMT, rip it to pieces if you have to.

    Guzan (Krul)
    Debuchy/Chester/Wisdom (Vlaar/Mariappa)
    Sanchez/Hazard/Mata/Siggy (Albrighton)
    Costa/Rooney/Bojan

1.5m still in the bank for upgrades.
I'm aware it's a pretty low cost defence, also I plan to shift Guzan after GW1/2 once I know what's up with Sunderland.

    Thanks!

Begovic, Cahilll, Mata, Rooney all great picks.

Mariappa not necessarily nailed and I'd worry about Ferdinand's injuries and age rotation wise. Ramsey good although personally I've switched him out for Sanchez.

Costa I have a feeling might struggle and Jovetic slightly punty. Prefer Dzeko personally.

Don't like BDavies - you know Rose has just signed a new deal? You've spent too much on your keepers. Love the Caulker punt and Cdavies is a good shout too. Midfield's a bit template-ish but the template's there for a reason. Wazza and Costa both good choices and Fletcher is about as good as it gets in that price bracket. I'd see if you can fit another Utd attacker in there as we have awesome fixtures. Understand the reluctance to get a Chelsea def but what about Hart --> Courtouis and DDG --> 4m?

Defence is decent, midfield is incredible and forward line is alright. Relies on Austin to do well though and, although that's quite possible, it is a punt. Also, I'd suggest you get Elliot if you're only going with Krul so that way he covers in case of injury/susp.

Think Courtois is too pricey and would worry he wouldn't be nailed for the first few games.

Ferdinand an injury/rotation worry. Not sold on Costa myself and want to see how he gets on.

Otherwise good and strong midfield in particular.

I reckon Courtois is the most nailed on of the £6.0m Chelsea defenders, and i'm happy to pay that price for security.

'Arry knows Rio can't play twice a week(unlike Moyes last season), but if he's managed properly he should start every game for the foreseeable future.

Expensive defence. Would downgrade at least one of them unless you plan to play 4 at the back. If you mean Ben Davies then I've taken him out my team because of Europe/rotation. In your case I'd either switch to Ward or downgrade to a 4.5 defender and use that to upgrade one of your others (Eriksen>Sterling?)

your team consists of a fair few differentials in comparison to the teams i have on this site and not the usual 'template teams'.....'risky' is the word i would use to describe your team.......i am holding back the word 'calculated' however.

Hello first time playing fantasy football so I'm probably gonna pester you guys a bit. Anyway I would like some help and advice with my team which at the moment is:

    Mignolet (Krul)

    Rooney, Bojan (Sanogo).

swap mignolet to Begovic better value (+ 0.5)

azpi to f.luis (More nailed on)

      Koscielny to debuchy (+ 0.5)

toure to ramsey or silva (+ 2.0)

      Hendo to sigurdsson

you now have 3m to upgrade sanogo to a striker of your choice 😉

Way too much spent on defence. Mignolet was incredibly leaky last year so I would definitely change your keeper and wouldn't bother to spend more than 4m on a keeper unless you're planning to rotate them. Having 6m sitting on the bench in Koscielny isn't smart. I'd downgrade him and probably one of your other defenders as well to improve your front line, which is pretty woeful aside from Rooney. Maybe look at Jovetic or Dzeko who provide quite good vfm in the absence of Negredo and possibly Aguero.

Henderson possibly too defensive minded so might want to look at swapping him out.

Fab, Mata, Fabregas and Rooney all good picks.
