With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Timbo tells us he is happy with his midfield and attack but has major concerns at the back. John Terry and Gary Cahill are season keepers, and he feels they will play every week but it’s the third defensive spot that worries him. Ideally he’d like another constant to play every week alongside his Chelsea duo so that he can use those precious transfers for more pressing matters, like jumping on the right bandwagons at the right time. He could be persuaded to have a couple of rotating cheap defenders instead of Ben Davies and Liam Moore – there’s a spare half a million floating around if that helps. Lastly, his goalkeeping combo seems to be collapsing around his ears. Is it too risky to stick with Vito Mannone? Should he go with David De Gea or is there something better out there?

sexy team. i echo the concerns of adebayor, on paper he's the best striker so should start (especially as poch seems to favour an all-rounder) but maybe a chance to have a gw1 punt (a lukaku, jovetic etc), then swap to adebayor in gw2

  Good thinking AB. I haven't looked into Gw2 transfers so that could be the way to go. I'm tempted to swap Eriksen for Lamella too. Have you got a preference on those two?

  I don't like QPR's defence, I think there are better CS options at 4.5m than Ferdinand. Plus, Krul as your only keeper could back fire if Newcastle don't improve their defence before the window shuts. The front 7 are all solid picks.

  Everton's opening fixtures would put me off Howard. Will Shaw start the season after LVG comments on his fitness? Moore seems to be the safest 4.0 defender at the moment. The mids and attack look decent. I like the Pelle pick.

Ran through this team through each gameweek for the next 6 weeks and the fixtures look good. Sturridge is there so I can afford to get any striker in if someone elese performs.

  i really like this team but the midfield is a little risky...once you're happy starting tadic every week. as much as I love Sturridge maybe be better to get Sterling as LFC coverage till Sturidge is fully fit?

The obvious 3-5-2 worries. There is just no striker in the 7-8 region that takes my fancy to downgrade Henderson to a 4.5 at this stage.

  I really am not sure on costa for some reason. With rooney in your team you could easily downgrade costa just a little (9.0/8.5 at the very lowest and use the remaining money to upgrade as you wish..

        I have just been playing around with this option.
        
        I'm not totally convinced that it is worth taking the risk at the start of the season, Surely only one of Dzeko/Jovetic will start? I'm willing to wait a couple of weeks and see how city line up.

    I have my doubts also. But with him being the lone striker at a team that has a chance of winning the league, he has great potential especially with that midfield behind him. Plus, the only other real options (in my opinion) are Giroud (not fully fit), Jovetic/Dzeko (who will start?!).
    
    With Hazard not having a full pre-season I am happy to settle with Fabregas for now until things become a little clearer.

      Plenty in that price range. I have been looking at Stoke (Pieters, Huth, ShawX) and Crystal Palace (Ward) defenders personally. Clyne done me well last season and gets the odd assist if you are willing to take the risk on Southampton? Not set on Lovren at Liverpool. I opted for Mignolet last season and that turned out to be an awful choice as Liverpool leaked goals all season.

        I was on that Mignolet boat too but I expect them to be cleaner in defense this time round.
        
        I opted to downgrade Remy to Austin and got Cahill instead of Debuchy for now 🙂

  Yeah, if you're going down the Zamora route, as I am, you probably need at least four nailed-on defenders.

Despite everyone saying Cameron is a doubt, I think he is pretty nailed on. Needed some rest after world cup but he played a very GOOD World Cup and should be ready to start

  I also stated a billion times already that I am not sure on costa and with Rooney in your team you could easily downgrade to a 9.0 or 8.5 at the very cheapest and upgrade elsewhere and still have a solid team

  Sturridge at 11.5 is very bad value concidering the man who assisted a good lot of his goals is gone (not to mention rebounds he got and all of defenders emphasis going on Suarez while leaving Sturr open sometimes)... YES he will do good but will not live up to the price tag. Better downgrade him to somebody like Lukaku or Adebayor and use the money to upgrade elsewhere

Both teams have a so-so start in terms of fixtures and my head tells me Eriksen plays in a better team and will therefore get more points over the course of the season, but Arnie's price seems to offer great value.

    yeah..i plan on playing ward bavies pieters most weeks and simpson and wisdom are kinda punts. simpson would be a wing back so slightly OOP and worth taking the risk and I don't think LFC would loan out wisdom if he was not going to get plenty of game time

Any advice on 7.5m striker options? I currently have Rickie Lambert but I feel he's the one weak link in my team, given his poor pre-season.

I would swap to Remy, if I could guarantee he'll start GW1.

Well it has been a nice summer but it is getting to be that time of year again.

Opened up my team for the first time and this is what I have come up with.

        Ooh, risky, I am a strong advocate against that usually. Stoke play City in the third week. After that it's not too bad, but it's still very risky.
        
        Chambers could be a hit or miss. I will keep my judgement until I see him in the Community Shield. I also don't know how guaranteed his game time is, and to take that risk with Wisdom (also doubtful over his game time with) and Taylor the backups....I don't know if the top heavy approach is worth it if your defense is that risky. My honest opinion. I'm a big believer in balance.
        
        I suggest you look at downgrading Costa to improve your defense. Maybe Costa -> Pelle, Gilks -> Guzan (rotates nicely with Bego), Wisdom -> Clyne? Southampton have dream fixtures after GW1. The thing is, with Rooney and Costa you're too top heavy and losing balance, and sometimes this just doesn't pay off. If you want Chelsea coverage maybe look at Fab rather (instead of Lamela), or upgrade Vert to Cahill.

On your team Athletico, I'm not overly crazy about your GK combo (Krul is really not taking my breath away, Guzan rotates well with Mannone as an alternative).

Adebayor is a risk, will be interesting to see what he does this season and how much game time he gets, not sure it's a risk I would take (and I am a massive Adebayor fan).
