With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Timbo tells us he is happy with his midfield and attack but has major concerns at the back. John Terry and Gary Cahill are season keepers, and he feels they will play every week but it’s the third defensive spot that worries him. Ideally he’d like another constant to play every week alongside his Chelsea duo so that he can use those precious transfers for more pressing matters, like jumping on the right bandwagons at the right time. He could be persuaded to have a couple of rotating cheap defenders instead of Ben Davies and Liam Moore – there’s a spare half a million floating around if that helps. Lastly, his goalkeeping combo seems to be collapsing around his ears. Is it too risky to stick with Vito Mannone? Should he go with David De Gea or is there something better out there?

Will Austin actually be nailed on with Remy still on the team as well as Zamora? Not to mention ownership is very underwhelming for Austin and is the least picked of the three.. Either he is a diamond in the rough or people are searing clear for a reason

    I heard that too and thats why I was surprised by ownership levels. Even if the casual people only knew Zamora and Remy there should be more that 2% top players picking him and would of expected anything between 5-10%

  Most people are struggling to pick solid defenders, this effort is no difference
  
  Mannone - Not nailed on, serious competition from Pantilimon
  Wisdom - Competition from Gamboa
  Luis - Could be eased into action, Mourinho could keep faith in last season's back 4 to start off with
  Davies - Competition from Rose
  Bruce - Not nailed on
  Moore - Difficult early fixtures
  
  Rest of the team is fine but you might want to downgrade one of your expensive mids to a mid priced asset. The spare cash could be useful in defence.

        What are your thoughts on Lukaku? Tough start to the season but proven track record against big clubs.
        
        I could swap Sanchez for Ramsey and then Lukaku for Costa... who is in the exact opposite situation - easy start to the season, but PL newbie

        I'm not against Lukaku, he does have a tendency to score when you least expect it so I wouldn't be too worried about his fixtures.
        
        However I do prefer Ramsey + Costa over Lukaku + Sanchez.

Gone with Bojan because it releases 3.0m vs Dzeko and gives me 3 season keeper defenders and Siggy instead of Shelvey and a better GK combo.

I'm set on keeping Baines
There's going to be loads of bandwagon mid's and maybe even strikers in early season so a stable defence will help with not needing to take hits.
Not set on Siggy - tempted to go back to Shelvey for 0.5m less to give me 1m in bank for early flexibility.
Bartley - happy to change to another 4.0

  think you have a great starting 11 apart from Bojan and terrible bench...if you are happy to play Bojan every week then thats ok and once your team stays relatively injury free you should be fine but its very risky having such a weak bench.
  
  maybe d/g Baines to someone like Vert and up Moore & Bartely to 4.5s like Cameron & Chester??

    The word from Leicester fans is that he's a very likely starter and has been doing well in pre season. Stoke fans on the other hand believe Bojan is a rotation risk as their is a variety of options in attack.

      really? first i am hearing of this...thought Bojan was nailed on (at least for a while) with his pre season form. plus he is playing as an attacking midfielder not striker.

I'm a little bit concerned about your side.

Mannone - Its really 50/50, time for a change I think

Cahill/Terry - I believe all of Chelsea's defenders are under slight threat, personally I think doubling up is a bad idea, it only increases your chances of getting one wrong. Consider downgrading one to Evans/Jones then using the spare cash to upgrade Davies to Vert/Walker/Debuchy, that will give you 3 solid defenders.

Adebayor - I'm not totally against it, however you'll need to be sure he will start. Consider Pelle or Costa as alternatives (I know the latter could be difficult to bring in however)

  I am in the same boat with Mannone but he was player of the year last year. I can't see him being dropped for some like Pant who barely had any game time last season. It would be a different story if Pant had an amazing last season. If anything it should make Mannone play ever better, known his position is under slight threat. I would be very surprised if they started with Pant and as someone else said the only way Mannone will be dropped is very bad form or injury

    Yeah that was my logic early on too. I think Giggs Boson had a hot topic not long ago showing quotes from the manager and two keepers. It appears it will be Mannone's spot to lose but the threat is very real from Pants.

        It could certainly happen, it might be a risk worth taking. I'd be more comfortable if I had a second keeper I had confidence in, however Newcastle have been woeful at the back in recent times.

        and if mannone is nailed on a couple game weeks in and you have a spare transfer can always get another 4.5 instead of Pant
        
        think I am gonna go with it myself as well!

    Wisdom, long-term, is likely to be dead wood so you'll need an exit plan before he begins a price slide. You too have the Bojan/Siggy rotation. I personally prefer Sterling in there for Liverpool attacking coverage over the double on United. Deliberating that myself though.

  Only query on that is the Bojan and Siggy rotation. It works but it could be frustrating.
  
  I personally prefer Hazard and a cheaper striker as the alternative to Fab and Costa just because I'm just not certain how they'll settle in the system. Hazard is a known quantity and should kick-on again.

        It would be Fabregas if I was keeping Costa but then I wouldn't personally go for a Spurs mid until I've assessed how Poch has that pair working.

  Lukaku has tricky fixtures. I don't think Dzeko will start, didn't last year for hte most part and Jovetic has started (and scored) in pre-season. Backups are weak. If a defender gets injured or deosnt start (Luis isnt nailed on) u have no backup. Id exchange Luis and Evans and buy another 1 or 2 nailed on defenders. Also, Gilks wont start.

    Always nice to have a few risks in there though!
    
    How about if I swap Wisdom -> Baird and Davies -> Targett/Haidara.
    This then leaves me 6mil to get some quality in.
    
    Even though Southampton have signed Bertrand I can still see Targett getting a fair amount of minutes for a 4.0. Haidara seems likely to play whilst Santon is out.
    Baird can pretty much play anywhere so he's decent bench fodder really.

  Lots of people not convinced with Shaw starting every game with Young's pre-season form. Vermaelen isn't going to play much at AFC, and you already have 3 MUFC players, so can't be speculating that he'll join there either? Midfield looks good, but not sure that Zamora is a good striker option 🙂
