With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Next up is D1sable, the winner of the 2013/14 Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors league.

De Gea/Hamer
Filipe Luis, Chester, Moore, Cameron, Mariappa
Sterling, Ramsey, Albrighton, Sigurdsson, Mata
Rooney, Diego Costa, Dzeko

D1sable tells us he wants a Manchester United and a Chelsea defender but he is unsure about Luis Felipe’s game time and doesn’t trust Manchester United defenders to stay fit. Luke Shaw’s fitness is a particular concern.

He hasn’t gone for rotation at the back,  just selected defenders from defensive sides. While in midfield he really wants Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure but he has found he just decimates the team with his price. Toure could be brought in with a wildcard later.  He is also a reluctant owner of Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, with Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas waiting in the wings. Liverpool’s attack is another area he feels he is lacking and he is concerned that Diego Costa may not be the best route into Chelsea goals and assists.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

I like it, although Lukaku may have a few tough fixtures early on. IMO Rooney is a must due to fixtures and form right now so you might want to consider him over costa or downgrade a defender and lukaku to include him.

The Krul/Mannone rotation is now considered a bit out of date - Krul/Foster seems to be the one-two of choice these days.

I would prefer to have Dzeko or Giroud than Sterling for 8.5, and I think there's better value in the 5 to 6 mil range for mids than for forwards. I think you're at least one solid pick short in the front 8.

Palace and stoke have good fixtures over City and Arsenal so i decided it was better to have sterling who's probably going to be pushing high up for a midfielder and getting goals.

My who ethos is to stick with Rooney, Ya Ya, Hazard and Baines all season unless injured so i have a good choice of Captain.

West Brom seem to be in a mess early this season so i would rather go with Mannone/Krul

I'd say the keeper combo is a bit ropey, you might need half a mil more to sort that out. I also think you're pushing your luck with Bruce (Hull won't always play 3 CBs) and that Wisdom is a bigger risk than he is generally being credited as. Other than that it looks quite stong, but I'd be inclined to bring in Evans for Shaw (question marks over whether he's nailed on) and up Sterling to Mata.

I don't think either were ever nailed, I'm yet to see any convincing demonstration that any of the 4.0s are nailed - last year everyone had Brayford, who I'm not convinced ended up playing a single minute.

If you're dead set on the front 8 and the keepers I suppose one option would be to downgrade Caulker to Simpson and upgrade one of the 4.0s to e.g. Naylor or Chester, then you'd be a bit more solid perhaps.

    Hi Guys,

Just put my initial team together and would like your thoughts:

McGregor (Heaton) - rotating on fixtures
Terry, Cameron, Debuchy, (Neil Taylor), (Ward) - Taylor/Cameron rotating on fixture. Ward to Vermanlen if he transfers to Utd
Mata, Sanchez, Sigurdsson, Nasri, (Steven Davis)
    Dzeko, Rooney, Bojan

Ward, Davis expendable depending on bandwagons. Nasri and Mata most disposable on the premiums in that order. Staying clear of Silva and Aguero thus far as their injuries killed me last season.

    Appreciate any help/suggested changes

Nice attack although Nasri is a big differential.

Still got 1m ITB so I can switch up Nasri for Silva if needed. Reading that Verm is going to Barca so looking like that wont happen.

No Chelsea in attack is due to Hazard and Fab being the only nailed on to start I think and don't know how Costa will acclimatize to the EPL in his first season.

Thoughts on the no chelsea attack or who you would select instead of who I've got?

Cameron is certainly a risk, I'm reluctantly conceding I might have upgrade him myself.

My general feeling is that you've got a bit too much money on your bench every week, if you carefully plan with the season ticker you can arrive at as good a defence (assuming you're playing 3 at the back) with less money. Debuchy and Ward seems like a particularly expensive combination given that one will be on the bench every week.

If the idea is to allow yourself the flexibility to jump on bandwagons then you might be better off liquidiating Ward and Davis for cheaper picks now and keep the cash (or use it to upgrade elsewhere). If the bandwagon you want happens to be in midfield then currently you might be forced to use three transfers to get on, two to liquidate Ward and Davis and one to do the transfer you actually want to do.

Good point on the money on the bench. I have 1m ITB at this point and was planning on having Terry and Debuchy as locks for the season with the 3rd defender rotating on fixture or playing 4 at the back again depending on fixtures so I don't necessarily need Ward, Taylor or Cameron. Just see Taylor as a lock with Davies gone to Spurs and Stoke rotates well so I can use Ward as my bandwagon pick.

Thoughts on who to pick up as opposed to Davis/Ward/Taylor/Cameron?

Gimme your thoughts on going no CHE attack. Can't decide between Costa and Hazard. Rate hazard much higher but feel like Costa will steal points and Hazard was fairly inconsistent last year, and Chelsea don't score too many

Costa wont 'steal' as many points as he will giving. Hazard did what he did last season when cfc had no proper striker to finish his balls of. I´m backing him to have a better season this year.

Chelsea didn´t score that many goals because, again - no striker. The mids did all the goals and now with the likes of Fabregas and Costa and more importantly, a left footed LB who can overlap Hazard and give him even more options.

Chelsea will score goals this year, i have no doubt about that. And Haz, Fab and Costa will be in the top of Chelsea players FPL points

You think so with Fab even if he plays in he double pivot? And who are you picking? I kinda like how my team looks when I pick Costa (downgrade Haz to Lamela/Eriksen) but gives me 0 in the bank and I want 0.5 to start

Ramsey did what he did last season in the DP. Fabregas is a proven FPL entity and he´s been deployed as a ACM when José switches to 4-3-3.

I have a Luis, Hazard and Costa. Cant shake the feeling that i want Fabs in tho, i´m not done tinkering by a long shot.

Agree with O Shea as a 3rd defender Van Aanholt is a better option

Rather Sterling over Gerrard if you want Pool.
Lukaku is now a risk it seems.

Sagna needs to go. All your defs are 5+ right? Seems excessive to me.

Not sure about Luka. Everton have a rough start and have they even won a pre-season match yet?

Are you playing 4 defenders and rotating Siggy & Bojan?

    Please give me your thoughts
    De Gea (krul)
    Cameron, shawcross, fonte (vlaar, Williamson)
    Hoilett, Sanchez, hazard, fabregas, (albrighton)
    Dzecko, remy, Rooney

    Considering mata instead of fabregas
    Any tips on my defence?

Clyne over Fonte if you want that defence.
      Double Stoke defence isn't optimal.
      4th mid is quite weak.

    How's this look guys?

I dumped Sturridge for Costa and used to cash to upgrade Shelvey to Siggy and Huth to Evans.
I've finally got something I'm happy to start the season with.

    Bego (Foster)
    Evans - Simpson - Wisdom - ( Colocini - O'Shea )
    Mata - Fabregas - Eriksen - Ramsey - ( Siggy )
    Rooney (C) - Costa - Bojan

Barring accidents Simpson goes for a Soton def or a good looking cheapie GW2

Fabs stays - check out the name :-). The plan is for Simpson to go GW2 and Wisdom will go too once I know which 4.0 defs are nailed. I know, I know, it will all turn to custard and I'll WC GW3

I considered it but transfers are at a premium early on as everyone gets rid of the flops for the GW1/2/3 star performers. best not to build in early transfers if you can help it.

Having said this I'm not actually taking my own advice 🙂
