The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team†(RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen’s inclusion was reliant on his move to Manchester United, which now looks to have fallen through. Who should he replace him with?

He concedes Charles N’Zogbia is a huge punt in midfield. Is it a gamble too far? Alexis Sanchez is an insurance policy and he feels he can easily downgrade the Arsenal midfielder to his cheaper team mate Aaron Ramsey.

    FWD: Rooney / Zarate / [JOVETIC / DZEKO??]

    (Planning on bringing Siggy in after GW1)

    Also, if I opt for Jovetic over Dzeko I can swap Felipe Luis for a Terry/Cahill?.. Want a Chelsea defender.

    Anyone here considering Riviere or Cabella? I know that it's tough with the options available at midfield and forward (even on the same team with De Jong), but I think that they could have strong seasons...

      Not sure about the 2 United mids. Maybe downgrade Young to a 5m and swap Debuchy for Evans (Good fixtures for Utd defenders). Then that frees up 0.5 up upgrade maybe Bojan, Wisdom or Bruce.

      Interesting pick in Coutinho. Could you not downgrade to Sterling and use that .5 to smarten up that defence which, if I'm honest, is a little weak.

      ok mccarthy, westwood aren't fpl picks they must go.
      skrtel, lovren and have terrible early fixtures, liverpool are bad at the back and you should avoid doubling up like that.
      cameron has doubts over starting

        Heard a couple of people say the same thing about Cameron & Azpi, As for jovetic if I keep him he'll be gone when aguero comes back, might try and get Costa in now somehow. Anyway thanks the reply

      A. I think that Hazard's got the edge over Fab but that Sterling more than makes up for the difference over Henderson, so the question is Giroud vs Costa...and I think that Costa wins out here...

      Having 2 4M defenders would scare me. Debuchy to a 5M and upgrade one 4M to a 4.5M defender of your choice

            Yeah i originally had Bego and a 4.0m but Newcastles fixtures aint too bad after City.
            Hmmm yeah, again previously i did have Fabragas, i just don't want to own him playing deeper than Haz in the double pivot, just as capable though in the long run.

      I like that you were able to get both Rooney and Sturridge into this side and keep Mata, Ramsey, and Hazard. I would worry about your GKs, though, especially since Mannone might not be starting for SUN.

        you reckon O'Shea would be better than Vlaar, and that might be true.

        What about for Clyne? Southampton has a decent run of games coming up and Clyne just assisted in their latest friendly 🙂

          At 5m I think guys like Caulker Ward or even Huth could be better. Although I have Hutton Aston Villa kind of scares me and at 4.5m Vlaar maybe a little wasteful,

      I would worry about your team being weak in DEF. I also always worry about Dzeko getting playing time. Other than that it looks pretty solid.

      I'd throw a little of it at Gilks and upgrade him (and Austin while you are at it). Or you could go Ramsey to Sanchez for the full 1.5.

    I think I'm down to choosing between Hazard and Costa or Mata and Sturridge, but seem to think Sturridge is the way to go for now. Also, Chambers is for about one to two weeks until the cheaper defensive options sort themselves out. I'm worried I'm too heavily invested in forwards, but it seems easier to make a move down to Lukaku or someone else later and improve once things start shaking themselves out.

    Care to share your views? Waiting on Chelsea's last game to decide between Hazard/Costa. Was sold on Hazard until someone here mentioned that Costa will be number 1 for pens. If Jerome Williams comes in at 4, he goes right in. Thoughts?

    Changed Sanchez to Ramsey after the community shield match.. Not to keen on Wisdom and Bruce but need them to buy the premium ones.. Any thoughts?

      My team is very similar. I'm not keen on Wisdom and Bruce either, perhaps consider Moore, who seems to be nailed on at this point, if you're brave enough to bring him on early. Not a fan of Lovren, expensive and Liverpool not great defensively. Either switch to Evans or downgrade to a 5m and upgrade one of the other 2.
