The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen’s inclusion was reliant on his move to Manchester United, which now looks to have fallen through. Who should he replace him with?

He concedes Charles N’Zogbia is a huge punt in midfield. Is it a gamble too far? Alexis Sanchez is an insurance policy and he feels he can easily downgrade the Arsenal midfielder to his cheaper team mate Aaron Ramsey.

      Unsure about Herrera as I havent really seen him play much so unsure what his points return would be like.... Snodgrass is a bit of a punt that could go either way. Jovetic is dodgy as its unknown whether he'll play ahead of Dzeko

      Fws are similar to mine, trio roon-costa-bojan.. i took hazard, ramsey and siggy also for midf. Might want to re-think on henderson though..

      Quite concern on def.. Bdavies might not get nailed. Also for Luis..

      Baines is a good diff, could always score points, but hard fixtures,

      I think City are gunna thump ewcastle so another good pick, but risky too

      Looks good to me, but i would probably downgrade one defender to upgrade a 4.0 to a 4.5

      e.g Shaw - Evans or Cahill - Luis

        Cheers. I think cahill is the most nailed Chelsea Def so I'm paying the .5 extra. I'm a bit of a casual, so I prefer set and forget rather than more time consuming rotation.
        After Newcastle play city they have a good run of games until it break where I could wildcard him and punts like bojan.

          That's true, the first week is the hardest to predict so its always good to have players you know will play and do well even if just for that game.

      Too heavy in defence, you can still go heavy, but maybe you dont need Baines and no need for a back up for Lloris...

      Template is a good thing imo 🙂

      I'm finding it hard to say anything critical of your team except Davies (if Ben?) is not nailed on and that's a concern.

      Bojan is a big gamble to play every week, but his pre-season form is nice and Stoke's fixtures look great too. So might pay off

      It could work, I don't see studge, Yaya and Lovren on many RMTs here, but they have a good chance to get points and then we would all be kicking ourselves!

      I think Lovren & Debuch can wait until fixtures clear up personally, but agree with Studge. He should rip it up regardless of opposition.

      It's very Arsenal and Liverpool heavy overall, if you don't care about fixtures at all, then that's fine. I'm going heavy on Utd and Chelsea instead.

    0.5mil ITB

    Firstly, I'm confident on Luis playing the vast majority of games, he didn't sign a 28yr old bench warmer for 20-odd mil. Wisdom only has a limited amount of gametime I guess but is worth the punt for now (need him GW1!). Bartley I will monitor the sitaution.

    So how's the team? Dzeko or Jovetic? Should I keep the 0.5 in the bank or spend on improving DF?

    I like the flexibility between formations and fixtures I can have.

      I wouldn't choose Bavies. All pre-season indications are that he will be rotated with Rose. Not worth it when there are nailes on options like Ward for that price.

      Also we are non the wiser as to who will be Chelsea's number 1 GK comethe start of the season, and Courtois has a knock apparently. I would defo swap him to DDG (you already have Luis anyway)

      My honest feeling is you have spent too heavily in DF, but that's just my feeling on strategy. You could make money on Shaw > 4.5, Courtois > DDG, Kosc > Debuch, Bavies > 4.5 and then signifcantly upgrade Hendo, Bojan or Erik

      Chambers is not nailed on at all........ once Mert is back, you'll be forced into a change.

      Lambert is a very suspect choice too. I guess he'll be Pools plan B if things are going wrong. Everything else seems fine

    I would be careful about Jagielka given Everton's run of opponents for the start of the season. I would downgrade to 5M defender like Ward, Dawson, or Clyne, and upgrade N'Zogbia for Sigurdsson. Your other midfielders are good. Front line is fine, but consider swapping Remy if not in form. Pelle or other good ones are Diouf, Austin, Gomis. Also some other new signings which will show in time who will be in form and adjust to the EPL.

      In my opinion, Lovren, Chambers and Jovetic are not 100% starters. Be careful with them.

      DDG is probably too expensive for a GK. If you downgrade him, you could improve your DEF or FOR.

      Not a fans of Bojan and Jovetic at the moment.

    Just redid my entire defense and now m team looks like this:

    DDG/Gilks
    Terry, Williamson, Debuchy/Van Aanholt, Wisdom
    Mata, Hazard, Ramsey, Johnson/Albrighton
    Rooney, Costa, Nugent

    Thoughts?
