The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen’s inclusion was reliant on his move to Manchester United, which now looks to have fallen through. Who should he replace him with?

He concedes Charles N’Zogbia is a huge punt in midfield. Is it a gamble too far? Alexis Sanchez is an insurance policy and he feels he can easily downgrade the Arsenal midfielder to his cheaper team mate Aaron Ramsey.

      I would go the other way around, cheaper def and stronger strikers.

      Nice mids though!

      Vaz te and zamora not even first choice for their teams. I think you need subs that get at least ninety minutes regularly...

      Way many gamble. It's not just a bit.

      First you only use 1 striker. I could understand if you play 2 strikers only since the midfield are looking really great at the moment. But having 2 or 3 strikers will give you more chance to get points from goals.

      Second Sanchez, Tadic aren't proven yet.

        Agree with Red Devilz. To save even more you could go O'Shea or Cameron at 4.5 each. Stoke and Sunderland have decent defenses and fairly solid preseason, especially sunderland. O'Shea cpuld be a good alternative, but Ward and Dawson are good choices. Not too sure about Spurs season given last season, but Ward and palace defense are solid.

      I'd drop Ferdinand (Too much injuries)

      Your midfield looks very solid.

      I'd drop Zamora, i doubt he'll have much timeplay since Remy is back to the team.

      Other than thse two changes your team looks solid

        dont do that..remy may not even start for the 1st game...stick w austin if u want remy..1.5m cheaper and on penalty.

        alternatively downgrade hazard->fab and get a 8.5m striker.

        personally i would do haz->fab and siggy->sterling

    This time I'm going for a little more evenly balanced side... not sure if this could work

    Rooney-Dzeko-Giroud

    Subs: Gilks, El Ahmadi + 2 out of the 4,0 defs

    This would allow me to have 7 "big hitters" in attack without having the most expensive real big guns (Sturridge, Kun, Hazard, Yaya, Sanchez) and having 3 quality defensive players in the side in DDG, Terry and Ward.

    Viable?

        At the moment I'm hesitant to get Costa and Hazard because I'm not sure if they'll have a quick start to the season despite their first 2 matches being fairly easy. As far as Chelsea defence, I would love to go JT or Cahill, but with how the rest of my team stands, they're just too expensive to consider.

        I've gone for Fabregas because he works with my budget and has been in good form in pre season and has a good history in the premier league, especially at the start of a new season.

      Chambers a bit too short term? Especially when Arsenal play Everton away GW2, which is far from an easy game.

      Also, Young may be good, but he may also be a HUUUUUGE flop, so be careful.

      Your defence is a little weak due to your midfield depth. Sterling is a bit of a risk considering his price tag. I'm not to sure about Diego Costa in the first few rounds. Other than that it is a very nice team. Hope that helps

      Decent, although Young and Wanyama don't excite me (but guessing that is due to price) - can you squeeze 0.5m and get sigurdson for Young?

      Sterling + Young > Erikson/ Lamela + Siggy/ Henderson would be better imo

    Hey guys, first team of the year. Would be grateful to hear what you think please:

    Foster / Mannone
    Luis Davies Vlaar Cameron (Bruce)
    Mata Fabregas Ramsey Sigurdson Barkley
    Costa Bojan Rooney

    This lets me rotate Bojan and Sigurdson in a 3-5-2 / 3-4-4

    OR

    Bojan / Barkley > Giroud-Dzeko / Albrighton – Then predominantly play a 3-4-3

    I am guessing this is pretty “template”, but that’s probably not a bad thing early on.

    Any thoughts would be much appreciated – it is concerning to see no Yaya/Hazard/Sanchez....but I have realised you can’t have them all! Thanks in advance guys

      Cam and Bruce not nailed

      Bojan not nailed

      Barkley inj tuff fixtures

      Downgrade Barkley to Davis and you have 2.0

      Austin/ upgrade last 3 def's IMO GL
