With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

The next up is 7 Shades of Smoke’s RMT.

Courtois (Given)

Filipe Luís, Evans, Vermaelen (Chester, Wisdom)

Sanchez, Mata, Arnautovic, N’Zogbia (El Ahmadi)

Rooney, Diego Costa, Jovetic

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen’s inclusion was reliant on his move to Manchester United, which now looks to have fallen through. Who should he replace him with?

He concedes Charles N’Zogbia is a huge punt in midfield. Is it a gamble too far? Alexis Sanchez is an insurance policy and he feels he can easily downgrade the Arsenal midfielder to his cheaper team mate Aaron Ramsey.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

I've gone for coverage of 6 out of the 7 top sides but no City, what do you think?

    De Gea

    Debuchy Lovren Stones Davies

    Lamela Ramsey Barkley Hazard

    Rooney Sturridge

Stones must breakthrough this season, he looked good last year plus Distin is 37 this season!!

Davies is my biggest worry but if they just wanted a back up, what is wrong with Assou-Ekotto?

He was on loan to QPR last season he won't feature i imagine. Its Danny Rose you have to worry about.

The truth is Barkley, Lamela, Stones, Davies are all open to the odd game on the bench which wouldn't be a problem if you had a good bench yourself. Dont say i didnt warn you but i wish you luck!

Stones will start, has played a lot pre-season. The bigger issue is how fragile and error prone our defence has looked pre-season. With Coleman unfit/injured, Hibbert is a glaring weakness at RB and the whole back line has been making mistakes. I would avoid until fixtures improve. I think Barkely is a good pick and will be champion of the casuals this season!

For a WC in GW3 planned, this seems like a solid team. I actually like the N'Zogbia punt, worth a gamble I think. And with 1 in the bank you can make the upgrades if required. Lots of doubts, as you rightly point out, and worst case scenario your GW1 could be awful with all those doubts not starting. But if it does pay off, it could be great.

The only thing I would have a look at is Bego and Gilks, I liked your Courtois Gilks version better. If you're only going to field one keeper I would make sure it's one that is guaranteed higher than average clean sheet potential, and I don't think Bego quite falls into that category.

You've got most of the key bases covered, which is a plus. Monitor de jong's fitness - I really like him as a pick, but he's got a niggling toe injury which will see him miss newcastle's final pre season game today.

I'm not so much a fan of the rotating 5mils at the back, particularly when there are (slight) question marks over Davies and Pieters.

Overall - a solid 7/10 by my reckoning. In any case - good luck!

Yeah I know what you mean about the 5m defenders... trouble is, I really fancy palace and spurs, just struggling to find a 4.5m rotator for both of them, gonna have to look harder!

Considering swapping Sanchez out for Ramsey so that I can get a top 4 starting defender and then only need 1 rotation pairing at the back

Good team. However, I would get a better keeper and avoid United's reworked defence until we've seen them in action. Bartley of Swansea might give you a better defensive return than Hutton and I would get rid of Wisdom. Despite his price, West Brom look likely to go down this season.

    Do you like it?

    Lloris - - - - Gilks
    Cahill---Lovren--Shawcross---Clyne---Yoshida
    Cabella---Tadic----Lamela---Johnson---Puncheon
    Sturridge---Jovetic---Bony

0 m in the bank. Because of Albrighton and Özil's injury i will rotate Puncheon and Johnson instead of using Özil with Albrighton backing him. If they get fit i will use them.

That is a VERY punty team. Far too much so for my liking, though evidently you like to live dangerously 😛

Every single one of your midfielders is a punt, and far too many mid-priced picks. I'd downgrade 1 of those mid-priced mids in order to upgrade another to more of a solid heavy hitter.

Jovetic a very punty short term pick up front also. As it currently stands, despite his pre-season form, I'd wager he'll be dropped for a returning aguero. Many would also suggest, and I echo the sentiment, that no Rooney, or Man Utd/Chelsea attack for the opening fixtures is madness also, so I'd make that a priority.

Personally, I'm not a fan, but if you're willing to take tonnes of risks with a relatively low chance of high reward - go right ahead.

Thanks for the honest answer, yes maybe you are right about low risk/reward. if Albrighton and Siggy situation will be clear i will use them, with more expensive mids like Özil And Mata. However i am not too excited about Chelsea, I think they will play ultradefensive football this year.

I guess Jovetic and Agüero can play together, but we will know more about him after a few games, so it will be quite easy to change him.

    Cahill Evans Chester (NTaylor) (Wisdom)

    DDG / Myhill
    F Luis / Debuchy / Huth / Bruce / Wisdom
    Sanchez / Fabregas / Mata / Eriksen / Nzogbia
    Rooney / Jovetic / Bojan

A little bit punty i know, but hey ho. I had Costa in, but had no City cover or a 5th Midfielder to rotate with Bojan, so this works for me. My main concern though is that i dont really have any nailed on backups in defence. So i am curious what you guys think. Stick with Huth / Pieters as a way into Stokes backline or swap for a decent 2x4.5mil rotation. What say you good people?

Don't like those keepers, both teams will ship goals. A Man U defender depends on how solid you think they will be at the back in this reworked set up. Didn't PvA pick up a knock? Consider Bartley for your 4.0. I like the midfield, though I'm personally holding fire on Sterling until we see how he does, still young remember. Dzeko is a rotation risk.

I think there is a new fitness or injury worry about vertonghen, so I would look into a Chelsea defender like luis maybe.

Navas for me is too risky, I had bad luck with him last season when he kept getting subbed early or rotated. See how city look in the comm shield today.

Giroud is no good in my eyes, and fitness worries surround him currently. Could swap him for dzeko or jovetic. Or look into someone like pelle or diouf for a differential....

Apart from those three points I would say your nearly there and looking strong.

    Hi everyone

    Lloris (Myhill)
Janmaat, Clyne, Coulker, Jones, (Wisdom, need advice for starting 4.0 defender)
    Mata, Eriksen, Hazard, Ramsey, Siggy
    Rooney, Jovetic, (Bojan)

Would rotate Bojan and siggy or play with 4 def. Or maybe if u have some advice for a player that i can get for that 7+4.5 bench.
I like to have 4 good options back so i can change someone who plays really though games like chelsea, sity, etc.
Will probly swap Jovetic for Dzeko,Giroud(depending on cs performance)

There aren't really any 4.5 playing forwards so that's a good rotation up front. I'd get Evans instead of Jones and maybe downgrade Lloris to Speroni or Bego and use the 0.5 to upgrade Erikson to Sterling

I like Eriksen more and with new arrivals at Liverpool Sterling could lose his 1st team spot at some time.

Good team arsenal don't have the best fixtures so Ramsey may not score to many points and am not sure how much Jovetic will play also will janmaat play?

    How does this look please?

    Speroni (Gilks)
    Kaboul Evans Wilson (Moore) (Duff)
    Sterling Mata Sanchez Siggy (Marney)
    Dzeko Rooney Costa

Obviously a very light defense but if Moore and Duff are nailed on then that's fine by me. Also, thoughts on Kaboul as a nailed on defender?

    Thanks!

Gone a bit extreme in the midfield, what do you think?

    GK: De Gea, (Gilks)

DEF: PvA, Wisdom, Ward, Davies, (Hutton)

MID: Hazard, Mata, Sanchez, Sterling, (Faurlin)

    ATT: Costa, Rooney, (Vaz Te)

I'd bring in a couple of 4.5m defenders and go upgrade Lukaku or Bojan.

If you're not going to rotate Shelvey, he's too pricey to be a bench player. You can downgrade Skrtel to some decent 5.0/4.5 guys such as Ward and upgrade Lukaku. You don't need a 4.5 GK if you have DDG in your lineup too, you may let Krul go.

    DDG Myhill

    B.Davies O'Shea Cameron Clyne Wisdom

    Eriksen Mata Sanchez Siggy Tadic

    Rooney Bojan Costa

Is it worth me doing B.Davies+Eriksen to Sterling+Coloccini/Chester?

Any other changes you would make?

    Thank you

Luis is risky will he start? Arsenal dont have the best fixtures so worth waiting for Debuchy
Apart from that very good team personally id prefer de gea in goal but you do have jones in defence.

Mid and forward line is fine

Luis not a certainty (I had him and decided not to risk it)
Don't like Debuchy Arsenals opening fixtures not great and he picks up a fair few yellow cards
Don't like Vlaar Villa don't keep clean sheets
Marriapa not nailed on Williams has played all but one pre season game

I'l Rate your team if you rate mine 😀

    De gea, Myhill

    Bruce, vlaar, cameron, cahill, caulker

    Hazard, sigurdsson, mata, eriksen, sidwell

    Costa, Rooney, Bojan

Not sure on bojan could go for austin or wickham but he has nice fixtures. Sigurdsson and Sidwell seem best budget midfielders
Defence is weak only 1 top team player but got a variety so pick
    depending on the fixtures

GKs are fine. The general consensus is Vlaar is nice at 4.5 but AVL defence is a deal-breaker. Bruce is not nailed on, but earlier in the season Wisdom looks to be. Cahill is your main lad in defence but you can always look for alternatives if you like.

Siggy has the potential but the role he has in the team right now brings doubts. Hazard, Mata and Eriksen are good picks.

I'm also not sure about Bojan but you can wait and see, or upgrade to Austin and Wickham if you please.
