With just six days remaining until the 2014/15 season gets up and running, City and Arsenal go head-to-head for the Community Shield this afternoon. As expected, both side’s starting line-ups have been heavily influenced by a lack of pre-season action for a number of World Cup stars, though Arsene Wenger hands all three of his main summer signings competitive debuts:

Man City Starting XI: Caballero; Clichy, Boyata, Nastasic, Kolarov; Navas, Fernando, Toure, Nasri; Jovetic, Dzeko

Arsenal Starting XI: Szczesny; Debuchy, Koscielny, Chambers, Gibbs; Arteta, Wilshere; Alexis, Ramsey, Cazorla; Sanogo

For City, Stevan Jovetic has the chance to continue the form which has harvested five goals over the summer so far. The Montenegro international is partnered by Edin Dzeko up top and, whilst the likes of Samir Nasri and Yaya Toure also make the XI, Arsenal will be optimistic of taking advantage of an experimental City backline, which sees Gael Clichy fielded as a right-back once again and Aleks Kolarov patrolling the left.

Arsene Wenger names Mathieu Debuchy and Callum Chambers in defence alongside Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs. Aaron Ramsey owners will be buoyed by what appears to be a move to the attacking midfield three alongside Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez, with Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere sitting in front of the defence. Up front, Sanchez’ role out wide means Yaya Sanogo gets the nod after his four-goal demolition of Benfica in last week’s Emirates Cup, with Olivier Giroud warming the bench again.

I heard that taarabt isnt fit and he will myb miss start of season. He played well for Milan. I agree that zamora is bad pick and i will try to find better player. Shaw and Coleman are offensive def and they will get good points just because of that. We will see

Feel fine with Siggy, honestly. Swans not a great bet for cleans but then again few of the 4.5s who are nailed play for teams that are. Naylor also added threat of them still possibly buying a replacement for him I would look to shift him out, personally.

I had that front 3 for a while but it worried me in terms of game time of the City guys. Currently on Rooney, Bony, Bojan on a 3-5-2 with the thinking that Bony is nailed, on pens and better fixtures than City. Mid looks good.

What are your views on Man Utd potential transfers, yay or nay:
    Di Maria
    Mehdi Benatia
    Juan Cuadrado
    Daley Blind
    Arturo Vidal
    Mats Hummels
Personally, I'd be happy with Hummels and Vidal, but reality is they may only get their hands on Vidal...just. Think Cuadrado is extremely overrated, for a man that was struggling to get his game 3 years ago in a poor Udinese team, he seems a flash in the pan in recent months.

I'm going first 3x GW's with no man coty coverage. Think Newcastle will limit them to 1 goal & liverpool will be tough for them also.

Going in hard on Chelski & Man Utd instead - hazard, costa, JT, Evans, Mata & Rooney all on board 🙂

Different - but really like it. Gerrard the dullard pick but appears poised to just keep ticking home the points. Cheeky Noble punt, but easy to hop off him onto the nearest bandwagon. Bruce worries me.

Ur better going with 2x until their fixs clean up a bit.
But Ramsey & a DEF essential imo (chambers a good little punt for first 3 GWs as Mert will be eased back in)

Big fan of that GK rotation but not the defence. 4 of the 5 are at a new club and the 5th (Cameron) likely to lose his place to Bardsley. Bojan hugely overrated. Tadic a good pick but unsure if he's fixture-proof yet. Wilshire average, I'd prefer Arteta for 5.5 if you want Arsenal coverage early doors, on set pieces though will lose his place a few games in, as might Wilshire. If Ade is the starter then it's a great shout, Spurs could do damage first few weeks I think. Overall I like the midfield and gk's but defence lacking Chelsea and United coverage and I can see both doing well early on. And there's a lot better choices than Bojan, downgrade Wilshire and get a 6.0m guy in
