The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

The next up is our fixtures specialist Roscola.

Begovic – (Gilks)
Azpilicueta – Evans – van Aanholt – (Wisdom – Bartley)
Mata – Fabregas – Ramsey – Sterling – Sigurdsson
Rooney – Costa – (Zamora)

Roscola admits his team has a major flaw in that it is potentially benchless. He says though that he’s happy for QPR striker Bobby Zamora never to play, because this is a 3-5-2 that reverts to four at the back for first sub. He believes that there are more points available in the budget bracket in defence than further upfield. Sticking with this basic strategy he is looking for advice to find extra funds to invest in his bench. Downgrading Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City’s Samir Nasri is one option he is considering.

      I think it's too risky to go with3-5-2 because if a good mid price option comes about up front it will be very hard to transfer it in without some serious squad reconstruction

    My team right know is:

    Schmeichel (Krul)
    Terry, Evans, Wisdom (Clyne, N Taylor)
    Mata, Ramsey, Eriksen, Sterling (Isgrove)
    Rooney, Costa, Bojan

    Quite happy with it, but would be cool to do the following:
    Terry ➡ Pieters
    Isgrove ➡ Siggy

    That gives me a nice rotation between Siggy and Bojan. Offers me to rotate from between 3-4-3, 4-4-2 and 3-5-2.

    So...

    Terry + Isgrove
    or
    Pieters + Siggy?

      Schmeichel could be a risk since he's coming up from a promoted team (maybe consider Mannone/Foster) and they have Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal to start with. The rest is good.

    upgrade to Chelski defender after we see more of Chelski back 4
    Rotate siggy/hendo/bojan

    6m is a lot for a mid to be on bench but compensates the weakness of 3rd 5.5m forward.

    any thoughts?

      Think you should have a playing sub goalkeeper if you're only going with Krul. There are major doubts over MAriappa's game time, probably worth the .5 investing in Ward. Front 8 looks good although I'd monitor the Albrighton injury situation and consider downgrading Jovetic to upgrade defence.

    I would really appreciate some advice on my current team. I have mentioned reasons for a few selections in my current line up.
    DDG 4M (Need help with a 4m starter here)

    Vertonghen Ivanovic Hutton Cameron Clyne

    Hazard Siggy Mata Sanchez Lamela

    Bojan Rooney Zamora

    Vertonghen - Relatively easy fixtures + goal scoring threat
    Hutton - Has been in good form pre season

    Lamela - A flip between eriksen and him but since he has been playing in the hole for most of the pre season games i feel he could be a sweet differential.

    Bojan - Favourable Fixtures and has been racking em up pre-season.

    Mostly going to play a 3-5-2 formation.

    Suggestions are very welcome. Thanks

              I agree that its weak upfront but i can rotate Bojan with my defenders right? I basically want to play a different formation from most of the lads.

    Thoughts on this team? Main concern is the lack of starting security in defence but the cheap defence allows me to have 5 players who I would seriously consider giving the armband to each week.

      Everton haven't been great in preseason so I'd probably swap Shaw for Evans/Jones and use the 0.5mil to upgrade Barkley

    Who should I start in GW1 out of these four regardless of position:
    Siggy, El Almandi, Vlaar or B Davies

    Curentely Siggy is in the line-up. Was almost planning on having El Amandi as a constant bencher but do not fancy Siggy versus a Man Utd team that look rejuvenated all pre-season so It brings El and My two benched defenders into consideration for GW1 as I can count on them two for starts if I needed in certain games

      No need to have two MCI players in the team especially with their run of fixtures + Yaya eats up money and (if you saw the community shield yesterday) he wasn't great. If you're going to keep a city player, keep Nasri and downgrade Yaya and use the cash to upgrade your defence.

          I'm a bit wary of new faces in the league so maybe not Herrera - possibly consider a punt on Lamela or Eriksen as Spurs have a new lease of life under Pochettino.

    I'm thinking of doubling up Man U at the back & leaving out Mata. Also doubling up Chelsea midfield to hedge bets on Fab/Haz. thoughts?

      Defence is weak in my opinion

      I'd definitely replace Hazard or Fabregas with Mata insteas, and lose Evans

        cheers, Naughton is a handy stop gap until other defences can be assessed properly, so many teams have unsettled back 4s! and I rarely pay more than £5.5 for a defender who isn't Baines, it really helps the front 7.

        What would you do without increasing defensive spending? I dont want to do either Pelle->Bojan or Eriksen->Siggy when it can really be avoided.

    hey guys,

    sorry to take out from ur time. I'm just stuck with something in here. By the way, I will post another post or 2 with different questions so that if someone is kind enough to answer it won't be too much.

    My most concern are the players I like having sanchez, sturridge and I think I will have to go with a 6m striker. Sanchez is yet to be in form, sturridge starts best fixtures from GW4 and not sure who is the best 6m option. Should I start with mata (I have ramsey and don't have a problem doubling on arsenal later), costa and giroud.

    Overall, I think sturridge proven himself and in an attacking team which can always score through him or by him. Costa is amazing but is in a team that I don't see scoring many in the same match.

    What do u think guys?

    Got £0.5m in change, any suggestions? Checked down the back of the sofa but couldn't find enough pennies to do Yoshida -> Fonte.

      Don't bother with Lukaku, Everton's opening fixtures are tough and are probably better off with Dzeko!

      I'd avoid liverpool defenders for the first few weeks as they could leak goals, Cameron is not nailed on but otherwise good! Consider Fabregas might be playing a bit deeper than usual and so maybe might not get as many goals.

      I like most of it except for Lovren. That Liverpool defense can leak goals. Maybe you can consider Caulker. QPR will be at home against Hull anyway and Caulker can score a goal every now and then.

      Points come from forwards, I would reinvest money from your defense to upgrade Bojan. Also consider getting two rotating goalkeepers for 9. E.g. Krul and/or Mannone & Foster
