There may be under a week left under the 2014/15 season gets underway but for many Fantasy managers, the midfield dilemma is yet to be resolved. In the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, in particular, the player price list has handed us numerous options to consider for our five-man midfields, with ten players coming in at 9.0 or over:

In this, our latest article for members, we take a look at four of the main contenders – Eden Hazard, Aaron Ramsey, Juan Mata and Raheem Sterling – currently on Fantasy radars.

Sterling has netted in two of his last four appearances and, after notching nine times last term, is backed by many to step up for Liverpool after Luis Suarez’ departure. Ramsey’s 10 goals and nine assists in just 23 appearances last season has catapulted the Welshman into the premium bracket at 9.0, with his strike in yesterday’s Community Shield handing us a timely reminder of his talents. Mata (9.0) has been one of Louis van Gaal’s star performers in the role in “the hole” in a new 3-4-1-2 formation, whilst the 10.0-priced Hazard, despite only returning to pre-season action last week, sits in 22% of squads ahead of fixtures against promoted pair Burnley and Leicester in his first two fixtures.

Casting an eye back to last season, then, we delve into the data and compare their respective displays. First up, we assess each player’s creativity and distribution.

    OR

    B) 5.0 Defender, Fabregas, Sturridge, Bojan.

    Leaning towards A at the minute but like the captaincy option of Sturridge. Could tinker and swap Costa for Sturridge in A but fancy 1 Chelsea and 1 Liverpool for spread coverage.

      Simply because of the early fixtures, they're not so great for Liverpool, but I wouldn't play Siggy until gw2.

      Henderson was quite lively towards final 3rd of last season, from what i remember. played a pretty advanced position on weekend aswel....and liverpools comparative goal scoring potential

      Lovren, Wisdom, Bruce and Zamora are tricky -- Lovren because of fixtures. You might drop him down to a 4.5 to improve your other players since you still have Debuchy and Jones

    For the minute I've opted for a weaker defense with

    Ward/Chambers/Simpson/VA/Rosenior

    Anyone see any problems with that or a way to improve it without paying more?

          wenger is giving him a lot of love. if he has a good start to the season i don't see why he can't nail on the centre back role. don't understand why all are saying he will play 1-2 games and then will be subbed out of the team. he has had a great pre season. for 4.5 you can't afford not to have him imo

      Since this is short term, the only really problem is Simpson if that's Qpr's simpson. Since Isla is there now, he may take that spot from Simpson. Other than that, The Chambers thing is fine for now, since that's short term I assume

    In the first 3 weeks I think in terms of points we'll see:

      Ramsey is solid but I like the runs Sanchez was making against Man C ...looked V dangerous...but worth the extra 1.5M...not yet, give him 4 weeks

      Mata and Ramsey are big hitters in my eyes. Sigurdsson is great for his price. Sterling is playing really well and gives you Liverpool cover.

      Mad benching dilemma each and every week with that strong front 8. I'd downgrade one of your mids (probs arnie) to a 4.5 and invest in defensive upgrades. A number of that backline with question marks over them (e.g Cameron), whilst chambers is very short term.

      I like the front 3 however. As I said, my main advice would be to look at re-addressing the balance of funds, deciding on EITHER a 3-5-2 (downgrading one of your strikers) or 3-4-3 (downgrading a mid), so as to avoid a benching dilemma.

          I see your point, but Siggy/Arnie's attacking returns have proven to be unpredictable. I'm not so sure that there's much correlation between home fixtures and attacking returns for those types of players.

    cheers for the feed back, glad you found it, yeah i'm liking it, loving my front 7 especially, chambers is a place holder really and Caulker is a 2-3 game punt, and Krul is....well, let that one play out as needs must like you say haha, stciking on that now anyway, don't think i'll be tinkering anymore.
    As for Marney, not so sure, but he nicks the odd goal and assist sometimes i know that much.

        At first glance i like it, and could work out very well, the only ones i'm unsure on are Lovren and Coutinho, but the latter could be fantasy gold if he gets involved more which i'm sure BR will be hoping for him toas well. Lovren IS a goal threat, but would feel safer to see how he does first, but still could be a great pick and tighten everyone up in pools defence.

        who is your 6.5 at the end of Siggy? you playing a 3-5-2 alternating?

            Cool, for 5.5 i'd probably take a punt on Shawcross, or better still Debuchy for more attacking threat, can easy switch to Lovren if he looks promising.
            Nasri is a good pick imo, i'd get Hendo instead of Coutinho like you say.

                Cool, Gibbs is a pretty good choice, just hope that he stays injury free.

                Hmm that is a toughie, I would have to say the second option, prefer Dzeko to Nasri, and you must have Ramsey in my opinion, so Siggy is worth the expense of Jarvis (especially with Siggy's position being questionable) or anyone round that price bracket that looks good.

        Always look at Baines as an auxiliary midfielder and striker. That’s why I have him in my team. Get rid of Cahill and Loveren and up grade Giroud

    A) Haz + Fab
    B) Haz/Fab + Costa

    leaning towards A but don't mind B with Fab as I feel Fab could be worth it over Haz alone
