The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

      Man City doesn't have a good fixture so I won't put 3 of them in my team, especially Kompany.
      Also Albrighton is injured right now so I would temporarily switch him out for now.

      I wouldn't downgrade Mata right now, definitely keep him in your team.

      Your team is very strong. The two bits of difficulty are:

      1) No Chelsea defender
      2) What if Bojan fails?

      But there is no position which is a glaring weakness. Plus you have an excellent Hull/Swansea rotation (I am doing the same rotation myself),

        1. Chelsea defender is such a luxury I don't think it is worth it.
        2. Then Mata to Young or something. I'm pretty sure the best option will appear as the season goes on though.

      This is a good team, but IMO the front three drains too much of your limited budget. It is very risky but may result in a lot of points.

        My back up plan is that if any of the front three get injured or do not perform to the best of their ability. I can downgrade the attack with more knowledge and reinvest the funds elsewhere.

        Its easier to go from expensive to cheaper than vice versa. Plus, I have a feeling we'll all need these guys in our team at some point this season. (Maybe substituting Aguero for Rooney)

        Your team, I think, takes a few more risks than mine, e.g. Chambers, Luis and the whole Liverpool trio (though Sturridge definitely a solid pick). I am perhaps not 100% up to date on their standing in the teams. However, if it works out, you may have some great value differentials!

        Bacuna was a trusty 5th mid for me last season, but got rotated a bit. So I'm just suspecting that your bench players might be required to step in at times.

          That's what I was thinking, so may be a bit safer in defence with B.Davies, Debuchy, Ward instead. Went to watch Liverpool vs Dortmund on sunday & coutinho really impressed so sticking with those 3 for a couple games at least. And Bacuna is just good value for the 4.4 price tag, and not sure where I can get some money back and improve on him at the mo.

          Ideally I want to hold onto that 0.5 in bank so that I can up grade Sterling to Fab if he starts off well.

            Yeah I think the 0.5 is very valuable especially with the uncertain player this year (Fab, Sanchez, etc..) 4.5 is a tough bracket. I had albrighton in which seemed a good pick but he has fallen to injury. Marney seems to be popular. Don't think you'll get much production out of any of them anyway.

      Don't think I'd play Bojan over Young so I would transfer one of them out for a player that have a strong fixture next week instead. I picked Frazier Campbell myself, I want to be able to rotate my cheapos to avoid selection headaches.

    My thinking.....

    Formation: 3-4-3

    Banking on stronger midfield and attack based on goals and assists + penalty, corner and free kick takers.

    Weak defence but hoping Chelsea and Stoke will keep clean sheets. The rest are punts.

    No keeper rotation based on Man Utd opening fixtures until GW8 or so....

    This is taking over my life and the season hasn't even started 🙂

      Upgrade one of the 4.0s to a 4.5 (PvA/Coloccini) and downgrade gerrard to sterling, swap Giroud for Dzeko as hes not match fit yet

        Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I was thinking Gerrard over sterling because of his PK, FK duties and with two tough away fixtures they might hit teams on the counter and he'd pick up a penalty.

        I do agree that the defence could do with 1M to upgrade it though. Thoughts on swapping Giroud for someone else to upgrade the defence?
