The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

      What's with Arsenal double back? You need to spread the risk, and their early fixtures are not so awesome.
      Navas is not nailed on.
      I'm also worried about Jovetic early fixtures. Can you downgrade Jovetic and upgrade Navas--to Mata maybe?

      Doubt Navas is nailed tbh, and you can probably get safer (and better) value by Sanchez > Ramsey and Navas > Fabs. I would also have dzeko/giroud over jovetic

      Depends who they get in charge but arguably still at least 3 worse teams in the league than them on paper for me its Villa/Leicester/QPR with Burnley West Brom

    Hi team, I think I am finally there(!), but would appreciate any input (positive or negative). Current team:

    Foster (Krul)
    Luis Chambers* PVA Vlaar Moore
    Mata Fabregas Ramsey Sigurdson*** (Marney)
    Rooney Costa Giroud**

    *Chambers only really nailed for 1-2 weeks, so I could upgrade to Debuchy but would have to find 0.5 somewhere
    **Dzeko?
    ***Henderson worth a punt - same price so easy transfer if Siggy scores v man u. SImilarly Ashley Yound could be great at 5.5 if a regular starter.

    Like I say, any thoughts would be really welcome - I finished just outside 3,000 last year so looking to go better! Thanks in advance

      Nice and pretty much where my head was at 2 days ago, I think you're right with Chambers, prefer Dzeko to Giroud & I think Henderson and Siggy could prove the bargains of early weeks.. coin toss.

        The simple maths for me is that if I downgraded one of the front 3 for say Jovetic I would probably do Henderson to Fabregas which is unlikely to yield a quick upside so... Plan is to go with a hot front 3 and downgrade one for a hot Mid around GW2

            True but as a Chelsea fan results have often been very unpredictable fixture wise, we often have tight results against the 'smaller' clubs

          I agree, and since seeing your team have queried my approach. Liverpool have some tough fixtures and I have a feeling teams will try and mark Sturridge out of the game as he won't have the same freedom without Suarez.

      i like the team but personally i would steer clear of United Defense and also just a bit of food for thought on Studge if you can maybe try and slip him in round 4 because coming up against SOTON where i think he should do reasonable but then followed by Man City (a) and Spurs there could be a little price drop if he doesn't deliver in those two games.

      I have a similar setup. My only concern is that 2 expensive mids plus 3 cheapies doesn't give as much transfer flexibility as 4 or 5 mid priced players.

      Ie there are a lot more good mid priced options if you need to switch a player. But this setup means I'll have to sell one of my expensive mids to jump on a (Tadic?) bandwagon.

        I had Parker last year and he warmed the bench for the whole season without an issue. Settled that this year the 5th Mid is just there for a 2 point banker in the event of an unexpected dose of the Trots prior to kick off for one of the other 4

          Yeah I just mean it's less flexible cos you can't swap like for like for a mid priced mid to jump on a bandwagon. You'll have to sell a top price player somewhere and shuffle others. I'm in the same boat.

    Getting dzeko or nasri instead of yaya does free up 2.5m to paper over the cracks elsewhere i.e. Young, chambers & bench depth)

      I would probably look at going Yaya to Mata freeing up 2 mil then Zamora to Austin for better bench cover and leaving 0.5 in the bank unless u want to upgrade Chambers to PVA or someone.

    Anyone going with 3 players under 6.0 in the mid and forwards ?

    I'm finding it hard to get rid of Hazard,Mata,Ramsay,Costa,Rooney,Eriksen and have Henderson and Bojan.

    Although i'm not a fan of having heaps in defense early i could go Eriksen - Siggy as i think Siggy will go well but then i don't know if i would want to boost my defence with the spare 2.0
