The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

      Yes and this time next year Rodney and Del Boy will be millionaires 😉 . No Siggy but otherwise a very good team . Consider Adebayor over Giroud too Arsenals fixtures are only ok at the start no need for a double up

      Newcastle will ship goals. I'm not sure Lovren is a good pick, given Liverpool's defensive track record. You're starting Mutch? Nice attackers.

        haha I knew the arrogant flex would attract!

        Yeah I'm unsure of Lovren, it's just his goal scoring ability like Terry.

        Mutch is my 1 gutt feeling punt I'm allowing myself for GW1 - he smashed it for Cardiff - Siggy/Henderson are obv decent - but Mutch scored good goals last season

          I would consider dropping Lovren. Liverpool may be a totally different side defensively this year, but given their fixtures and the options available at 5m and lower, I would look elsewhere - especially as you have Terry and Debuchy as the foundation of your defence. Bring in anyone like Chester, Taylor, Ferdinand, Kaboul and you can afford Siggy in mid. Your choice though, decent team mate.

        I have thought about that mate, thinking Yaya to start and remove gw2/3 if poor. Get in Ramsey or Hazard and upgrade def.

        Chambers was more for gw1 and hope a 4.5m def springs out that I can use my 1st transfer on... Always have Chester back up who SHOULD start? Fingers crossed

      Don't like the keeper combo. Are you confident Southampton will keep CSs after their chaotic summer? Lovely midfield, but your attack suffers as a result. If that midfield are banging in the goals - great - if they're not, you'll be struggling to replace Barnes.

        A -4 will sort out Barnes if I really have to but there are too many midfield options to ignore imo. I think Southampton's team looks fine and their summer has been exaggerated somewhat, Clyne also offers attacking threat and I can't see many better options. Mannone is a risk I'm happy to take for now.

          I'd start with someone assured of starts. You already have Naughton in there. You could end up with only three playing defenders if you pick another risk.

      Begovic is a solid keeper choice, I don't like Newcastle's defence at all, yet everyone seems to have Krul.
      Do you want Naughton, considering he will be replaced by Walker when he's fit?
      Blackett - same comment as guys above.
      Nice midfield, not seen Arnie in many teams and he gives you a rotation with siggy.
      With Sanchez, you might lose ground on people who have Ramsey or Mata in the early GWs. I think it will take Sanchez time to get to full fitness.

        I think I'll trade Naughton for another 4.5 once Walker is fit.
        Happy with Arnie in mid as a differential.
        Might downgrade Sanchez to Ramsey and then upgrade Jovetic?

      (A) gives your a much better differential , so if you lack Differentials in your team I'd Say (A) if not then (B)

    I broke one of my sacred rules of having two no-rotation defenders and just one rotation , instead I've got all 5 on rotation .
    Main Problem is that i got no MU/CHE defensive cover ... but i really like this team :

      Don't get Zamoa, his ownership is too high. Get a different 4.5 striker to avoid a price drop.

      I'd try to find another 0.5 from somewhere to upgrade Oscar to Fabregas.
      Maybe change one of Coutinho/Eriksen to Siggy and spend the extra cash on your defence.

        I Believe Fabregas will just play next to Matic and keep passing to whoever is going to assist , not a fan at the moment I'll wait and see .
        Eriksen is on Freekicks/Corners and has always served me well .
        Coutinho is my only differential .

    RMT please. Aimed to get as many top 6-8 team players with as little rotation as possible, apart from GKs:

    Foster/Krul
    Terry/Lovren/Chambers/(Hutton)/(Moore)
    Ramsey/Silva/Sterling/Siggy/(Marney)
    Rooney/Costa/Giroud

    Only doubt is Chambers but Huttons fixtures are good GW2 and GW3 if Chambers gets benched. Thoughts?

      Dont feel confident about Utd defence either, so scrapped all drafts with DDG and/or Jones in myself.

      Courtois pick would have me feeling nervous. Fairly sure he will get the nod but not 100%.

    I need help. My team I like but is SO template it's unbelievable. Taking defence out of it (although bar clyne they are all still popular) my least owned player is siggy, and we all know how popular he is.

    Now to mix this up I'm considering switching 2 players.

    Currently have Eriksen and Bojan (rest of mid is Rambo, mata, siggy, sterling. Roons and costa up top).

    Was going to switch to odemwinge (also considering holtby) and rivière.

    Bare in mind the price points as well as it will be easy to jump out of the new players than it wi be to change Bojan if he fails.

    Is this lunacy to have to find a few differences or a good plan??

      Looks good. Unless you fancy a punt on Sanchez who could be more explosive than Ramsey I'd save the 2m, could be handy for upgrades once you've seen the first round of games.
