With the first international break of the season already underway, we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Arsenal
Laurent Koscielny was withdrawn midway through the first-half of yesterday’s trip to Leicester after sustaining a head injury. Arsene Wenger reckons the Frenchman “should be alright” in a week, while the Gunners boss also revealed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (calf) and Mesut Ozil (ankle) picked up problems in the 1-1 stalemate.

Aston Villa
Skipper Ron Vlaar was subbed off due to a calf complaint in Villa’s win over Hull, Paul Lambert has confirmed.

Chelsea
Oscar was unavailable for the Blues’ trip to Everton in Saturday evening after being ruled out with an ankle problem. Eden Hazard has since pulled out of the Belgium squad with a “small injury”.

Crystal Palace
Marouane Chamakh is set to be sidelined for a month with the hamstring problem picked up during the weekend draw at Newcastle. Fellow forward Dwight Gayle was also withdrawn at St James’ Park after sustaining an ankle knock but is expected to be fit in time for Gameweek 4.

Everton
Similar to Chelsea’s Hazard, Romelu Lukaku has also withdrawn from international duties for Belgium due to a small injury.

Man City
Summer signing Fernando was subbed off during the first half of Saturday’s home loss to Stoke with a groin problem, Manuel Pellegrini admitted post-match.

Man United
Initial reports suggested Juan Mata was replaced with three minutes remaining of United’s draw at Burnley with a hamstring problem. Louis van Gaal has since stated the Spaniard was withdrawn due to cramp. The Red Devils’ boss also confirmed Angel di Maria was subbed off as a precautionary measure after sustaining a knock on his calf.

Newcastle
Newcastle right-back Daryl Janmaat was withdrawn with just three minutes left of Saturday’s clash against Palace after picking up a knock.

Stoke
Peter Odemwingie was forced off with a knee problem just 20 minutes after appearing off the bench in the Potters’ win at City.

Tottenham
Danny Rose was withdrawn midway through the second-half of yesterday’s home loss to Liverpool with a leg problem.

Non United fans can you now see why I despise Manchester United so much there fans are absolutely ridiculous. They slag City off for spending loads now it's fine, they slag Liverpool off for finishing 7th and going on about the past but it's fine when they do it. They slag arsenal off for not signing anyone yet it's fine when they did it last year. And most of them slag you off for supporting your local team. It's just an endless cycle of hypocrisy. The sooner that club collapses the better.

This belief that it's just 'one' set of fans is so outdated. 😆

Arsenal fans slagged off Wenger for not spending, now slag off United for spending.

      It's all one big cycle.

we were against the huge spending of city and chelsea simply because they were nothing clubs who were taken over by billionaire owners

man united earnt their wealth through producing young talent and huge success on the pitch

i know as a liverpool fan ur still very much hurting from last season and i dont blame u as lets face it it was a good as it gets for the pool and after some scintillating football 30 plus goals from suarez and 20 odd from sturridge u still won nothing

u enter back into the holy grail of the champions league and sell ur only world class player and sign rickie lambert.. now thats ambition

after finishing second and only a point behind the champions last season u would be expected after spending 100 plus million this summer to go all the way and win it but ur destined to go backwards..

and to top it all off man united without a sniff of european football continue to sign top world class players...

i can feel ur anger mate

    Hello, friends!

Thought I'd inform you that I've updated and released the Gargatron, the FPL stats machine for the 2014/2015 season.

Some of you will have used it last season and if that is the case you just need to re-start Google Chrome or update your extensions and it

will work just as it did last season.

If you have not used the Gargatron before then here is what it does and how you use it.

In short, it's an extension for the Google Chrome web browser that allows you to look at some stats for any FPL team.

The current version can show you this:

    - Total captain score
    - Captain score if you swapped all C / VC
    - Captain score as % of overall score
    - Highest possible captain score
    - Captain score as % of your highest possible captain score
    - Number of different captains
    - Number of different players
    - Three most owned players
    - Most captained player
    - Total score of autosubs
    - Total score of unused subs
    - Unused sub score as % of of overall score
    - Points spent on transfers
    - Total points between team and rank 1, 100, 1 000, 5 000, 10 000, 50 000, 100 000

If this interests you then you can install the Gargatron by following this link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gargatron-the-fpl-stats-m/kpbaoamnogjcokjojimpmbdkdgobdhoe .

Once there you click the blue button in the top right corner that says FREE and you're done. Chrome will ask you whether it may access your browser TABS, but it only does this to show the calculator icon needed to run it when you're on the FPL website on a points page, and nowhere else. You do NOT have to be logged on to FPL to use the Gargatron if you don't want to. You will automatically get any future updates.

To use the Gargatron you need to go to a POINTS page of the FPL team you're interested in. It can be any gameweek, and it can be run on any team. Once you're on a points page you will see a small green calculator appear in the right side of your address bar. Click it!

Here is a screenshot of the stats tab, if you're curious: http://i.imgur.com/5KpC5n0.png
Here is a screenshot of the rankings tab: http://i.imgur.com/zE395MM.png

If you have any questions, problems or feedback I will stick around here for a while now and try to help you out, or you can find some contact information in the About the Gargatron tab.

I'd also like to mention that the Gargatron is free of charge, free from ads and banners, does not need or use any personal information of yours and is not affiliated with any website, company or person except me.

Oh, and sorry to have taken up your time if you're not interested. Enjoy, and good luck everybody!

        Hello.

Yes, unfortunately it only works in Chrome.

I went with that route when I created it because for those who have Chrome it's simple to install and it automatically distributes updates.

Maybe someone will come up with a cross browser platform for extensions like this that is equally easy to use, but up until then it will have to be this way 🙁

    Dear Sky,
Arsenal are not Man Utd's rivals anymore.

One is a Champions league top 4 prem side. The other is only the 2nd best team in Manchester.

          Your point being...?

Whether or not Liverpool finish ahead of Utd again this season is irrelevant. Utd are far more adept at signing better players whom will inevitably make our team better than yours.

di maria has been playing at the top level and excelling for club and country for years and only a few months back was picking up the man of the match award in the champions league final on the way to winning it.. influencing games at the highest level on a regular basis makes a world class talent

So I have the funds to do Debuchy->Ivanovic, but am really leaning more towards Moreno. Please talk me out of this crazy idea!

Here's my reasoning: Chelsea have so far played bur (3-1), LEI (3-0) and eve (6-3). That's 1 CS and 4 goals conceded against pretty soft competition to be honest. Liverpool have played SOU (2-1), mci (1-3) and tot (3-0). 1 CS and 4 goals conceded against 3 in form teams of pretty high caliber.
Chelseas next 4 are: SWA, mci, AVL, ARS. Swansea is THE in-form team atm and while I think Chelsea will win at the bridge I could very well see Swansea scoring as they have in every match before this (2,33 goals/game). City away is one of the toughest games of the season for Chelsea. AVL is of course a great fixture. Arsenal at home is kind of like the Swansea game, expect Chelsea to win comfortably, but I would not be very surprised to see an Arsenal goal in there somewhere.
The main concern though is that I feel like Mourinho will play much more defensively against these tougher teams to not be punished on the break, and so far offense has been Ivanovics strongest weapon. Of course he will still be threatening on corners and with Costa in the middle his crosses will be deadly, but I still expect his PPG to decrease a lot now.
Liverpool on the other hand are set up for some favourable fixtures, their next 4 are: AVL, whu, EVE, WBA (with qpr, HUL, new to follow that).
Liverpool are known to be shaky at the back, but this year half or more of their backline has been upgraded, they should only get stronger the better they gel together. And with the diamond formation back in action, it falls upon the full-backs to go forward out wide, something Moreno seems to like as he has looked very aggressive these last 2 games. In fact his PPG is not that far behind Ivanovics (7,5 to 9,5) over the two matches he has played and that was City away and Spurs away!
However Ivanovic will probably rise at least 0,2 over the international break so might be harder to get him in later (though if he only rises to 7,2 I'll still be able to afford him).

So again: dissect my crazy theories and bring me back to my senses please!! 😀

I generally agree with your reasoning, and still thank that, in the long run, Ivanovic won't keep getting attacking returns, and Moreno looks a good prospect. Also, Liverpool look more solid with Lovren at the back. However, in the long run, Chelsea under Mourinho will keep more clean sheets than anyone else, and a chelsea defender is just about the most dependable source of defensive points in the game.

I know its transfer deadline day and attention is on that but I've just had a look at the situation with players rising in price and I think its safe to say TotalFPL are calculating the % increases wrong. In the past the required NTI for price rises has always been based on a set threshold for all players. Assuming this is still the case then we would expect to see consistency between the % increases shown and NTI for each player.

Taking a couple of examples with players that haven't risen this GW, Fabregas has gone up 3.6% today with 8,950 NTI whereas Shawcross has risen 11.6% with 9,483. If the price rise thresholds are the same for each player then TotalFPLs workings are incorrect.

There were 6 players that rose in price overnight - Siggy, Costa, Dyer, Sterling, Weimann and Dier. Using MVTaylor's excellent work here http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2014/08/31/the-community-round-up-56/?hc_page=13#hc_comment_8159927 the following players were over 100% for a rise last night - Costa, Guzan, Wisdom, Dyer, Ramsey and Lloris.

As you can see, only 2/6 (Costa and Dyer) that were expected to rise actually did and 4 (Siggy, Sterling, Weimann and Dier) that were not predicted to rise did. I think the key to explaining this is the number of transfers. I wildcarded last night and studied the data on TotalFPL and FPL carefully. I know that none of the 4 expected risers which didn't (Guzan, Wisdom, Ramsey and Lloris) were receiving high NTI. If memory serves they each gained between 1-4k NTI yesterday.

On the other hand, 3/4 of the unexpected risers (Siggy, Sterling and Dier) all received a high number of NTI yesterday. The reason they were not close to 100% appears to be an error with TotalFPLs current formula or data.

This leaves Weimann, who started getting transfers in following his haul yesterday but not large amounts like the other 3 unexpected risers and he wasn't anywhere near 100%. Looking at his history on FPL it shows NTI of 55k up to the GW3 deadline. Based on this I believe he was actually close to 100% prior to his performance yesterday and the rise in transfers in following this took him past the threshold.

In summary, when looking at price rises pay little attention to the % bar on its own, the key is the number of net transfers in.

Looking at the current data I suspect Fabregas, Shawcross and Schneiderlin could be closer to a rise than they appear to be.

can't believe we're letting him go. It makes me sad, so under-appreciated

I'll never forget him bossing Real in the Bernebeau a couple of years back

😕 I mean I know he wasn't first choice but he brought a lot of work and pace to the team.

The problem is that a lot of people didn't appreciate his movement off the ball and just though he was a headless chicken. Plus he was played out of position so often

              This.

Trying to look for silver linings and I guess it means more games for Lawrence & Wilson [whoever doesn't get loaned out]

Perhaps, hard to know really. Still kinda hopeful they manage only a loan but looks like it won't be.

Still no CB or CDM for Arsenal.

Welbeck or no Welbeck, it would still be a poor transfer window if they don't get a few players in those positions.

            Debuchy - Class
            Sanchez - World Class
            Chambers - Looking Solid
            Ospina -World cup hero
            Welbz -Great potential

Nah can't agree on Debuchy being class. He's alright but he's so rash, absolute card magnet!

You were better off renewing Sagna's contract than forking out 12m on him.

He hasn't been that poor. Debuchy is an upgrade, though. Younger too.

He wasn't that bad, can't see much difference in Debuchy's or Sagna's performances, certainly not 12m worth!

Agree with this as well. He is okay, but perhaps just a stop gap until Bellerin is ready.

I'm sure he'll play in the COC. From what I've seen of him, he could work on his defending a little bit though.

Debuchy has played great since he's joined, very impressed.

Bit rash but still an improvement on Sagna

I agree to all of the above.

But you need players for those two positions badly. You're well short there and wouldn't be able to compete without depth.

Those two positions should've been a priority.

Then if 2 of their CBs are out, they are in big trouble

You've got to do the fine tunig.

Start signings do not always win yopu titles but a hard working CDM who can play CB may well win it for you.

Diaby and Ramsey in the double pivot will win us the league.
