After kicking off our series of Big Numbers articles with a look at the best performing Defenders over the first three Gameweeks, we now move further up the pitch. This time round we focus on midfielders, with a trio of summer signings all showing plenty of promise in their new surroundings.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I can't believe the amount of people jumping on the bandwagon to get ADM and/or Falcoa, unproven and quite frankly United are shite. If you want a differential get Balotelli!

there's the individual points too. costa had completed several 90s in pre-season, falcao has started just 1 out of 4 matches this season, and all that is with different teams

Not really sarcasm, but didn't plan on getting him in either.

Just don't think you should avoid players because they are "unproven" in the Premier League. They're only unproven because they haven't had a chance to prove themselves.

    Forster (Gilks)
Ivanovic - Moreno - NTaylor (Van Aanholt - Moore)
Fabregas - Sterling - Tadic - Sigurdsson (Boyd)
    Aguero - Costa - Welbeck

0.2 in bank (could be Fabregas to ADM if United sort themselves out)

    Begovic (Krul)

    Taylor Coloccini Wilson (Wisdom Moore)

    Fabregas ADM Sterling Siggy (£4.9m)

    Costa Falcao Balotelli

I am dropping Ramsey so no need to go there. Options are dropping Balotelli for Welbeck and spending an extra £3.1m on either an £8m 5th mid or bolster defence. (Pool defender)

if i had more faith in charlie austin to start putting away the chances, i'd go for barton.
His key passes stats alone since GW 1 have been fantastic.

              And a front 3 of Rooney-Costa-Welbeck.

Quite liked Rooney's performance today, very unselfish in his play and that's probably how he's going have to be with the likes of Di María, Van Persie & Falcao in the line-up. He's not the big dog anymore and I should think he knows that now.

Decent, midfield is a bit average, here's what I got in the Blue Division.

          de Gea
Terry, Jagielka, Blind, Koscielny, Filipe Luís.
          Hazard, Walcott, Coutinho, Zaha, Ward-Prowse.
          van Persie, Benteke, Pellé, Ideye.

      3. Quick question, any suggestions appreciated!

        A) Costa & Wisdom (3-4-3)

        Or

        B) Di Maria & 5.4 defender (3-5-2)

        Cheers!

So a question for those considering Welbeck.

Who will you be having as your 5th mid? How much money are you willing to put into the 5th mid position? Welbeck would certainly add budget flexibility, and as a player who might not be in the lineup every week (depending on Sanchez playing up top), it seems like having a bigger hitter in the 5 spot might be smart.

Currently I'm on Jovetic, but was planning on adding Danny after the Chelsea match (might have to hop on earlier now from the looks of things), but I was eyeing up Zaha as my 5th at 5.4m. I think he has much more in the way of scoring/assist potential than JWP and the other 4.5/5.0m mid's that most currently have in their lineup now.

        What do you think?

Eye Zaha as your 4th mid..never mind 5th...

zaha scored more goals last gw than JWP has in 50 prem apps. i'd be tempted to fok out the extra 0.4 if poss, especially so when his starting place becomes more known

It won't be this week, but i'm definitely getting him in sooner rather than later. Price protection should hold him until after saturday for me at least.

He'll score more goals in front of that Arsenal midfield than Giroud ever will. If Giroud was 6.9, this would be a no-brainer.

          It is a no-brainer.
(Based entirely on my firm belief that he will go straight into the Arsenal first XI)

And on a quick re-read of the original post,, that reply has absolutely nothing to do really with the question you asked.

I'm looking at 5.0m options for 5th mid. Want rid of Mutch.

Haha, no worries. Appreciative of your answer!

Currently I'm on Sterling/Siggy/Ramsey/Lamela/Albrighton. Might ship Lamela out for another 9m (I have 2m in the bank now) but I want to give him one more match. Even still with I could swing Zaha as my 5th...and downgrading Jovetic to Welbeck will provide more flexibility at the front/back.

Will be interesting to see what most people decide to do!

going to ride the Naismith price ride for another little while to generate some cash.
                Then i'll get Welbeck.

Might even drop Rooney for him, and keep Naismith that little longer, depending on how he does compared to rooney.

Am I the only one still left scratching my head at the recent trend of playing Sterling in the hole?

        He's absolutely pants there.

i like it just because it gives him more freedom to basically play whereever he likes. on the wing he has more responsibility and is a bit more tied down

I think it limits him massively. He should be getting at fullbacks out wide. He's not near polished enough to do it and may never be. Could always play a 433 and give one of the CM orders to help cover his flank. Simples.

Not for England, he's class there for Liverpool though. England play completely different, it works for him at Liverpool because we press high and when we win the ball in the oppositions half it leaves more space for him in behind the opposition defenders when we counter.
