Brendan Rodgers confirms that Daniel Sturridge is set for a short spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury. Aaron Ramsey has emerged as an injury concern for Arsenal’s clash with City at the Emirates. Romelu Lukaku is amongst a quartet of players to return to training for Everton. Alan Pardew has ruled Rolando Aarons out of weekend visit to St Mary’s. Roberto Soldado remains a doubt as Spurs visit the Stadium of Light and Leicester are set to be boosted by the return of midfielder Matty James.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Aaron Ramsey “has a chance for Saturday” after the midfielder picked up an ankle injury on international duty with Wales. Elsewhere, Kieran Gibbs, Mikel Arteta and Mesut Ozil have all been passed fit and are set to be included in the squad, though the Arsenal boss has refused to confirm whether or not new signing Danny Welbeck will feature from the start.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Romelu Lukaku is likely to be in contention to face West Brom at the weekend. Lukaku had been struggling with a toe problem, and subsequently missed Belgium’s friendly with Australia, but the club record signing has taken part in training today along with Steven Pienaar, Arouna Kone and Bryan Oviedo. Samuel Eto’o and Leon Osman both face late fitness tests after sustaining knocks in the past week.

Daniel Sturridge is expected to be out for “up to three weeks” with a thigh injury, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed. Meanwhile, summer signing Emre Can could be sidelined for up to six weeks after the midfielder suffered an ankle injury while playing for Germany Under-21s. Joe Allen will also be assessed ahead of the Villa game after hurting his knee while turning out for Wales earlier this week, though Martin Skrtel, Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan are all out.

Newcastle have suffered another injury blow, with Alan Pardew confirming that Rolando Aarons will miss the weekend visit to St Mary’s after sustaining a hamstring injury. In more positive news, Pardew revealed that midfielder Cheick Tiote will be in the squad for Saturday providing he returns from international duties unscathed, while Jack Colback has also declared himself fit for the trip to Southampton. New signing Facundo Ferreyra has been ruled out with a back injury.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Roberto Soldado is a doubt for the Sunderland clash with a neck injury, while Kyle Walker remains sidelined.

Ronald Koeman has confirmed new boy Sadio Mane is uncertain to feature at home to Newcastle. The Senegal star has to travel to Ghana to receive a work permit and, even if he’s available, is set for a bench role at best.

Leicester’s Matty James has returned to training after missing the start of the season with a shin injury. Nigel Pearson, though, has hinted that the Stoke clash is likely to come too soon for the central midfielder.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official twitter stream as breaking news unfolds.

Just a reminder that the Early Bird cup last 16 kicks off tomorrow

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AjjtGjCCBpZvdHpodVVxWWFsV3dsYnpKeHRkT09kZUE&output=html

I will actually be in the best place in the world all of next week - Center Parcs! - so won't be able to update scores and such until late next week. Have no fear though, it will be done by the time GW5 rolls round.

Good luck to all thats left, I expect to see a lot of wildcards been played and many punts paying off (although hopefully not against me)

Who to start in defence from this lot please?

    Cahill (H to Swansea)
    Wisdom (H to Everton)
    PVA (H to Spurs)
    Coloccini (A to Southampton)
    Chambers (H to Citeh)

Thinking Cahill and PVA as the obvious two and Chambers furthest back on the bench but which of the other two to start?

    1 decision, 3 options! Help

A, Jovetic to Welb/Ade or Pele (no hit)

B, Mata to Sterling (no hit)

    C, both - 4

    Cheers in advance

B is a must IMO; well, I mean I've done it so...
If it were me, I might wait on Jovetic just so I wouldn't take a hit? But I'm not sure how long he'll be out for; but if you did want to replace him, I'd choose Welbeck or Pellè

Incredibly similar to mine - exact same goalkeepers, strikers, 4/5 mids and 3/5 defenders - I'm tempted too but it's not a bad team and I think it'll be better to save it for a couple of weeks - half the changes you've made are players you'll not use most weeks.

Tricky question.. i'm changing my defense around over the next few weeks.. Gonna get a Pool and Soton defender in. it's tricky though cause

    A) if i go Moreno i'll have to settle for Berts/Toby in a few weeks.. if i go Clyne i'll have to settle for Lovren in a few weeks(price rises etc)
    B) i'm taking a hit for one of them this week. so between Clyne/Moreno who do you expect to pay me back over the short term ie next 2 fixtures.. Moreno(AVL, whm) ... Clyne(NEW swa)

Asking myself the same question since I have Jones - will prob go Clyne coz I don't trust Pool at the back for now.
Too bad I had planed to get Sterling, hope this won't backfire too hard, c'mon Vlaar & co!

Lost the post now...but to whoever said Eriksen was a mistake...WTF...One of the best picks in the game for the second half of last season and with some of the easiest fixtures at the beginning of this season....No mistake...he was a good pick...sadly not all good picks work out, you're being too hard on yourself...

got him in when sherwood took over, he didnt play for 3 games, i shipped him out, he scored twice

        So I'm on a WC.
        My midfield is:
        Ramsey-Siggy-Fab-Sterl
I'm pondering transferring Ramsey out. I'll wait until last minute, but if he looks quite doubtful who shall I get in for him? Di Maria?

I like Sanchez a lot if you can stretch.

Di Maria feels a bit too risky with United's form and the uncertainty surrounding his role.... not much else to pick from is there, hmm. Hazard? 😀

Fixtures aren't TOO bad for attackers. I like to make long-term moves so I'm getting Welbz this week. Worst case scenario if they fail to do much over the next 4 is that I'll be in a great position for GW8 and out.

        Current team:

        Krul Mannone

        Jones Debuchy Duff Moore Wisdom

        Mata Rambo Marney Hazard Siggy

        Costa Rooney Jovetic

2 FT and 0,4m in bank.

Jovetic and Jones are the obvious transfers out but I reaaaally want Sterling in.

What about this? Jones, Jovetic, Marney TO 4,4m def, Naismith and Sterling for -4pt hit?

Would also leave me with better bench (Siggy) if one of Costa, Hazard and Rambo won't play.

        Thoughts?.

Hi guys. In a bit of dilemma. Have 2 FT,

        Team is currently

        De gea (schmeicel)
        F.Luis Debuchy Jones Trippier Bruce
        Siggy Fabregas Ramsey Sterling Brady
        Bojan Rooney Costa

Wanted to do rooney + Brady > Welbeck + Zaha

But Jones may be out for a while and with Luis not starting I may be short on defenders. I'm not sure where to start to fix the holes in my team.

        Thanks

Ok fella's, played my w\c and come up with this team:

        GK: Begovic & McCarthy
DEF: Ivan, Clyne, Trippier, Wilson, Moore
MID: Sterling, Rambo, Fab, Siggy, Tadic
        FWD: Costa, Pelle, Welbs

        0.2FT ITB.

This look any good? Placed a lot of faith in the Saints, but reckon hey will come good!

Why not put one in each of your teams and see which does best.
You could even try out Ivanovic in the other team!

You can't lose anyone else for Sterling? Silva is a nice differential.

Some help would be appreciated! Got 2 FT and .9 in the bank.

        Guzan
        Chester, Ward, Debuchy
        Sigurdsson, Ramsey, Mata, Fábregas,
        Rooney, Diego Costa, Dzeko
        Subs: Krul, James, Wisdom, Moore

        Mata -> Sterling makes sense?
        Dzeko -> Welbeck as well?

Just Mata to Sterling and save 1FT...honestly don't think Welbeck & Arsenal will get much joy against City.

I'd say Leicester have all round looked the best of the promoted sides so far but burnley will always be hard to beat at turf moor.

depends on fixtures. I'd pick Leicester generally though right now. Will be keen to see how both fair against bottom half opposition though as that is where most Cleanies will come from i reckon

Burnley had tough fixtures so far but looking at last year I'd stick with them
