We delve into the Gameweek 5 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Wayne Rooney’s new role for United comes under analysis, as do Burnley and Leicester’s displays up front, whilst a couple of north London-based frontmen are also placed under the microscope after their contrasting weekend performances.

Is Mirallas too much of a bench threat to keep?

only after europa games, Martinez will now have learnt never to bench mirallas as he is essential to our success.

Yes. Tadic is 100% the better option in that range because of no European football

Haha, same here. Clyne-Tadic-Pelle. Would love Forster instead of Begovic too. Lots of good options in that team but at least I've spread mine out across the positions.

I just got rid of him even though I expect him to do well this weekend. Will not be transferring him back in this season unless they get knocked out of EL - Martinez likely sees winning Europa as his best chance at getting into Champs League. Rotation will be heavy as he showed us all last weekend.

Who would you play this weekend, and why?

    A) Ulloa (at Palace)
    B) Siggy (at Sunderland)

I'm leaning towards Ulloa, because Palace are an attacking side now and so are Leicester which should make it an open game. I usually side for forwards when in doubt as well.

Because Sunderland are just as poor defensively as Palace are. Everyone is overreacting to Siggy's lack of luck the past couple of GWs.

Ok so the opposition defences are the same. Ulloa as a striker has a pretty good chance of outscoring Siggy as a midfielder. Can you explain why Siggy is obviously a better prospect?

            1. Not Irish
              • 12 Years
              11 years, 10 months ago

Siggy plays as a forward for Swans, so that's not exactly sound logic. Siggy has much more potential to explode than Ulloa does. There's also the trend of Siggy doing the business away from home. It's very obvious. But a couple of weeks without a haul and we forget in the world of FPL.

Use the comparison tool between Siggy and Ulloa and come back to me with your logic that explains why Siggy is obviously going to explode and Ulloa isn't.

Maybe curb your enthusiasm with the word 'obviously' then. Without proper reasoning its just bluster.

What's the point of looking at a positioning stat which includes a match in which Swans were down to ten for the majority?

The stats are ignore due to proper reason, I assure you.

Ulloa. Stadium of Light is a tough place to play, even though I can see Siggy ticking over an assist. Ulloa could bag a brace against the leaky Palace defense.

Asked this earlier hours ago but its nice and quiet now...

Moreno Clyne Bertrand Moore Hutton. Current Defense
GW7 Bertrand > Robertson (avoid double saints away to spurs)
GW8 Robertson> Chambers, Moreno> Kolarov(kola plays the 'easier' fixtures and better CS prospect)
Kolarov Clyne Chambers Moore Hutton. GW8 Defense
    Seem sensible ?

Planning defensive transfers is not typically the wisest thing to do.

Also, 6.0 is a hefty price to pay for Kolarov, a player that doesn't start every game.

      1. Jay_
        11 years, 10 months ago

I know its a gamble but just see him as better attacking potential and cs than Moreno , and even if benched Moore and Hutton are decent replacements

that one week Robertson move is an avoidable transfer imo - your defence cant always have plum fixtures...also its hard to plan so hard into the future, as things change very quickly... 🙂

Also, I have no issue playing Clyne at WHL. West Brom and Liverpool have already kept Spurs to 1 shot on target there in the first 5 games. They only looked good against QPR, otherwise they've been shyte

Risers: Wisdom (owned by 384k and growing so its shocking that he hasn't risen yet)

Predicting risers is tough enough. Predicting fallers is an exercise in futility.

Pelle to rise tonight. Maybe Welbeck as well.

interesting...trouble is there are always loads of those super low ownership plays that drop which are ridiculously hard to predict...

if you get the ones you've just predicted, then im impressed 🙂

Yeah I'm totally ignoring the players no one cares about. That would just be a waste of everyone's time trying to predict.

Pelle is also has a good chance of rising but I think it'll happen tomorrow not today.

Who would you play this week?

    A) Lovren (vs Everton)
    B) Chambers (vs Spurs)
    C) Taylor (at Sunderland)

My other defenders are Wisdom (vs Burnley) and Clyne (vs QPR). I have no fwd-def clashes.

I'm leaning towards Taylor as the Swansea defense has been the most solid out of these teams so far, but any one of the three would feasibly be a decent pick for various reasons I reckon. Will need to reassess this on Friday I think!

Assaidi is only there because his NTI is a massive percentage of his really low ownership. Its more of an anomaly than anything else.

Its like a player who's owned by 10 people suddenly getting 10 more owners and having a massive rise %

    what do you think? save?

    .....................Begovic
    .........Ivanovic, Clyne, Moreno
    Sigurdsson, Cesc, Sterling, Di Maria
    .........Rooney, Naismith, Costa

    Gilks; Chambers, Marney, Hutton

potential outs being Begovic, Rooney, and Moreno depending..

tempted by Moreno + Rooney > Wisdom + Aguero for -4 because I have transfers I want to make BUT I want to save next week and have 2 FT for international break

    1. Jay_
      11 years, 10 months ago

Defo not worth it, not yet, the fixtures dont add up you could lose heavy even without the-4

Everton will score so Moreno needs an assist or goal to potentially outdo Wisdom or Moore (forgot to mention him, they're playing Palace).

Rooney home to West Ham should do well but I think he'll be limited in the hole compared to up top whereas Aguero is in a more solid team and has Hull and then upcoming nice fixtures

        1. Jay_
          11 years, 10 months ago

Good transfers, but just not yet, i have Moreno myself but i am worried but the consensus on here and my gut is goals galore he could nick a assist or goal, I also have Ageuro but still think Rooney will outscore him this week only, then from then on Aguero every week will easily outscore him

Reason being the rest of your squad is fine for the most part. Sure, some things you'd want to change but nothing that terrible. So you can afford to do these 2 transfers next week and address the other issues the week after. IMO anyway 🙂

    0.1m off from Naismith -> Ulloa 🙁
What is best to do with 1FT ?

    A: [-4pts] Naismith + Ramsey -> Pelle + 6.9m [eg. Chadli, Downing, Moses, Quinn)
    B: [-4pts] Naismith + Ramsey -> Ulloa + Tadic
    C: Ramsey -> Silva
    D: Save FT

      Been released already?!

I bought mine in US but will play in Aussie, hopefully I don't got sent to US server.

Overall gameplay it's defo a step up from 14.

Over the top balls and far post cross exploits seems to been nerfed.
Shooting is a bit tad more difficult on those 'angles' you usually expect to score in 14.
Keeper is rather a mess tho they fumble everything rather than catching or rather than at least punching it.

The web though is so good

The day 0 patch improves the keepers. I love their handling, adds so much more unpredictability to the game.

I've just started my career as Pompey. Tough job on my hands there.

Ah if their handling is improved then it's all good.

This will be my first year delving into FUT but so far I am already addicted just going through the web app. I am in Australia and ordered on the US PS store, it unlocks in 5hrs for me.

Awesome ... how did you do this, you order through the US PS site and then download this straight onto the PS?? Gives you a couple of days head start??

Created a US account, bought PSN cards off Amazon and redeemed them on my account. Yeah a couple of days earlier than locally and nearly half the price so it's win-win 🙂
