As we brace ourselves for the second international break of the season, our Sunday members regular delves into the Gameweek 7 data. United’s record signing, City’s in-form frontman and Swansea’s resurgent striker are amongst this evening’s topics, as we also analyse the recent displays of a number of favourably priced midfielders across the last few Gameweeks.

Why wasn't Sakho awarded the first goal? 'Twas clearly his goal.

I have two wishes for next GW:

    1. Aguero stays quiet.
    2. ADM stays quiet.

    That is all.

Moreno has been a fantasy dud.

Pool can't keep a cleanie either.

Getting rid asap for that price..

Good idea. I had him for 2 games but got rid before GW6. Sometimes it is wise to realise you've made a mistake and just get rid instead of hoping for returns due to fixtures.

Just their fixtures that tempt me to keep. He's also good for attacking returns, and you can't really predict those.

I had Costa (C), Fabregas & Di María today and went down approx 2000 places on yesterday!
Guess my Clyne and Pelle were outclassed by Chelsea defenders/Hazard and WHU/Spurs - didn't realise they had such high ownership

So many people have similar squads finding the good punt will be critical. I picked up Downing this week and it paid off. Need to figure out another good punt for next week.

Every year its the same - I waste my summer monitoring friendlies, scouring through reams of data all in order to assemble a side of FF world beaters - I can justify this time as in a previous life its time I’d have wasted on championship manager. By the time the deadline arrives I look at my team and I think ‘this is my year’. I’ve finally cracked it. No one’s going to have thought of bringing in Young - that’s a genius signing (it wasn’t) and Costa is going to score for fun (he has, sadly everyone else thought the same thing). By the time the game has updated I look at the teams in my various paying leagues and I almost pity the poor fools managing them - I mean surely only someone whose clicked random select would end up with Naismith, and even random select would be harsh to stick a Leicester forward in your team?
Then I spend the following weeks slowly dropping down the rankings before realising the guy in mid table, who I’m battling it out with, hasn’t even updated his team since it started.

My girlfriend is even beating me. This is a girl who, having absolutely no interest in football, or FF for that matter, entered a team 2 minutes before the deadline and spent most of that time picking her kit and trying to find Beckham in the player list.

So basically 7 weeks in I’m starting to come to terms with the fact that, perhaps, this isn’t my year after all.

Nevertheless I can’t lose to that mid table guy - even if he never logs in again to realise he beat me, this can’t be allowed to happen.

    My team is:

    Krul (McGregor)
    Moreno, Shaw, Wilson (Hutton, Wisdom)
Fabregas, Siggy, Sterling, Di Maria (Boyd)
    Aguero, Costa, Welbeck

0.4m in the bank and 2 free transfers. I’m starting to get demoralised by Moreno’s weekly one point haul and, despite their fixtures luring me back, I think its time to accept that Man U would struggle to keep a clean sheet against a five a side team. Let’s not even mention Krul.

So if I sell Moreno and Shaw I can get:
    Baines and a 4.7 defender
    Ivanovic and a 4.4 defender
    Azpilicueta and a 5.7 defender

Any advice/ideas would be very welcome - or should I just ask the girlfriend?

Best version by a mile! The minute it became Football Manager it was ruined. I'd find it hard to go back now though as some of the young players I used to bring in are now retired. In fact one of my saddest memories was the birthday when I realised I'd got past the age that I'd sign myself in CM!

This is what happens when you're bedazzled by box scores and fail to use your common sense on turkeys like Young. Baines and McNair/Robertson/Oviedo/Chambers/N Taylor by the way.

Young was a gamble. But Bony, Eriksen... I had such high hopes! Baines and Taylor was my preference - so if you have either I'd suggest you sell them as their seasons are about to take a turn for the worse.

Go with a Chelsea defender over Baines...better chance of clean sheets. Could also downgrade Mcgregor to 4.5 GK (maybe mannone). That was you can go Ivan and any half decent defender 4.9 or under. Maybe chanbers in 2 weeks after suspension

Ah turns out I have McCarthy - annoyingly I had Ivanovic when he was 7.1 but sold him as thought he was too much. Again, not one of my better moves.

I have Marney and probably want to get out before probable price drop. I have 2.2 in bank so I would have 6.7 to spend. Who is the best mid in this price range, and I already have Siggy and Chadli. (the other mids are Sterling and Fabregas). I also have Costa, Aguero, Falcao. Best option:

    A. Downing
    B. Diame
    C. Henderson
    D. Somebody else (welcome to suggestions)

Or should I use the funds to top up either gk (Krul/foster) or def (PVA, N.Taylor, Duff, Wisdom, Hutton)?

My decisions that will bug me for 2 weeks
      Bego Mccarthy
      Bertrand Clyne Moreno Moore Hutton
      Sterling Fab AdM Siggy Boyd
      Welbeck Aguero Costa
      2ft 0itb
Front 3 Siggy and ADM are staying
      The rest are flexible
I want Baines a lot and liking Hazard any ideas ?
      Thinking:
      A: Moreno Fab > Baines Tadic + 0.4
      B:Moreno Fab > Baines Chadli +1.2
      C Moreno Fab> Chambers Hazard +0.4
      D: Stick

I really don't see the attacking points for the budget and mid priced midfielders and strikers drying up anytime soon. It's just picking the right ones.

I've seen loads of comments about template team but that's not really the case. No more than 4 players are essential, or if you look at it another way, Sakho has scored in his last 3 getting baps in each one and yet his ownership is 1%. That shows how much variety there is with mids and strikers.

Anyway, enough waffle, I'm going to spend my Rooney money on defence. GW8 i will start with Baines, Kompany, Apzil and keep for the season.

      Aguero - Costa - Welbeck

      Gilks - N Taylor - Moore - Marney - 1FT - 0.4m ITB

Would you save a transfer with this bunch?

I was considering Shackell > Chambers, but the suspension has ruled that one out. I'd also really like Baines or Ivanovic, but I can't really justify downgrading any of my front seven... I suppose I could also swap Begovic out, but Goalkeepers seem a real minefield this season, and I can't see any outstanding candidate for a replacement.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. 🙂

Not a fan of Vaz Te or Sanchez. Maybe Downing instead of Sanchez and use the extra funds to upgrade Vaz Te or Gibbs

I've finally ditched Krul and it feels good. I don't even care if injuries are likely during the international break. I couldn't stand to look at his name in my team. My team is now full template. Surely things are on the up?

      Forster, Elliot
      Baines, Clyne, PVA, Naylor, Wisdom
      ADM, Sterling, Chadli, Siggy, Albrighton
      Aguero, Costa, Pelle

to call ur team as template, u must 1st go to the % player ownership

and make sure u have all the highest % player, thats when u can call it a FULL template.

        aha just jk ^^
