Don’t get us wrong – we’re not labelling this latest droning session as “essential” listening. However, there’s no getting away from the fact that the concept of essential players has dominated the airwaves at Scout towers over the past week.

In this latest episode, Granville and I take on this meaty subject, whilst chewing over the importance of ownership and spit out the semblance of an opinion on both. Around that main course, we take on the usual bevvy of regulars with the usual haphazard panache.

Essential? Not quite, not even on a rainy Thursday night.

Grab this crucial slice of audio via this link or explore this necessary noise via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

That's a statement of intent which I may very well bottle at the last moment! 😯

I know there won't be much in it, if any, but who should i play?

    Wisdom(home to utd)

Not sure I have been in a situation like this, where I have 2 FT over an Intl break and nothing has happened to make me want to change my team.

Is it worth shipping Chambers if my backline is
    Heaton Gilks
    Baines Clyne Wisdom Moore Chambers?

I have either 4.9 to replace Chambers of 4.4 for Moore or Wisdom. Cheers.

    1. Black Knights

Chambers' games to come are good so keep. Baines, Clyne, and Moore will do you this week.

I've seen lots of posts from people in this position, including myself. Gonna be a strange week if everyone's teams are killer perfect

      1. tm245
        12 years, 17 days ago

Have noticed that as well. A few nights ago in the Deadzone two of us posted almost identical squads with 2 FTs simultaneously.

Imagine it will all be ending in tears, then.

        1. FantaCity
          12 years, 17 days ago

yeah, we'll all be taking hits next week 🙁

If only we could bank more than 2 FT. Three would be like a mini WC.

Could you afford to upgrade your keeper perhaps? Just an idea

  4. Black Knights
    12 years, 17 days ago

Sorry, this got stuck at the bottom of the last page.

On WC, I think this is OK but wouldn't mind anyone's opinions:

    Forster - Hamer

    Bertrand - Baines - Chambers - Naylor - Hutton

    ADM - Hazard - Siggy - Henderson - Boyd

    Aguero - Costa - Naismith

    Still have £0.8m available.

I'll switch Forster to Adrian after the next 5.
Naismith i'll ride out until he loses his place, and then swap to Sakho.
Henderson replaced Sterling to afford Haz and Aguero - could be a possible better option there but QPR v Liv is appealing!?

    Thoughts guys please?

    1. PogChamp
      12 years, 17 days ago

I would go with Sakho and not wait for Naismith to lose place.

      1. Black Knights
        12 years, 17 days ago

Everton's fixtures are just so tasty until he does. And Man City for Sakho next week is tempering things.

        1. PogChamp
          12 years, 17 days ago

True but he has scored against United and Liverpool. Also, City have 2 CS in 7 GW's.

          1. Black Knights
            12 years, 17 days ago

That's a good point. My concern is I haven't actually even seen him play. Does he play up top, or wide?

            1. PogChamp
              12 years, 17 days ago

Definitely a front man i would say. Just seems to be in the right place at the right time. I've had him for a few weeks so no complaints here.

              1. Black Knights
                12 years, 17 days ago

Ah yes, a bit of built up confidence in him always helps! He's got an amazing run of fixtures coming up so I'm sure it won't be long before I confirm it, if I don't yet switch before the weekend. Thanks!

Have 2 ft's so feel like i "have to" make a transfer before saturday, as it will be completely free. Thinking of replacing Krul or Marney, but who to replace them with?

    0.1 itb.
    Krul - Foster

    Aguero - Costa - Ulloa

  10. WHY ALWAYS MESUT?
    12 years, 17 days ago

    Repost from earlier...

Not gonna do any transfers before this weekends games but need to figure out the route I want to go down for the next batch of transfers. May do a -4 past the weekend - or may stay a week and do 3 moves over two weeks.

    Here's my team right now:

    Begovic - McCarthy
    Clyne - Ivanovic - Moreno - Shawcross - Moore
    ADM - Fabregas - Sterling - Siggy - Boyd
    Costa - Welbeck - Ulloa

    3m ITB. 1 FT.

Which option do you like most?

    A) Ivanovic, Shawcross, Ulloa -> Chambers, Robertson, Aguero. 0.3m ITB.
    B) Shawcross, Moreno, Ulloa -> Chambers, Wisdom, Sturridge. 0,0m ITB.
    C) Shawcross, Moreno, Ulloa -> Chambers, Baines, Pelle. 0,4m ITB.
    D) Ivanovic, Ulloa -> Chambers, Sturridge. 0.2m ITB.
    E) Switch to a 3-5-2. Bring in a Zamora kind of guy for Ulloa while upgrading Boyd to Walcott. Allows me to keep Baines and Ivanovic both.

Any help would be appreciated! Very confused here!

    1. TD Champ
      12 years, 17 days ago

A or C for me. Don't think Sturridge is worth the price this season. And E is way too early

      1. WHY ALWAYS MESUT?
        12 years, 17 days ago

Those are the two I'm torn between!

Thing is, if I want C, I should go for Ulloa - Pelle this week (as Pelle is likely to rise).

Which one would you go for?

        1. TD Champ
          12 years, 17 days ago

I would go for Aguero. I see Baines as a huge attacking threat, but i just don't want to pay that kind of money for a Everton defender, seeing their defensive play atm. And Aguero could explode anytime soon

          1. WHY ALWAYS MESUT?

My thoughts exactly. He gives a great captain choice as well, can't discount that.

    Bench conundrum.
    Play:
    (a) Milner TOT(H)
    (b) Downing BUR (A)

RMT has Downing in front. They both have great form with Milner just ahead. Right now I'm going with Downing, but it does feel odd benching an in form City player with a home game.

    1. Boss Hogg
      12 years, 17 days ago

      Play both?

      1. boffster
        12 years, 17 days ago

        Rest of the mid/front is
        Pelle Ags Costa
        Sigs Sterling Gerrard

And I think all those chaps edge in front.

        1. boffster
          12 years, 17 days ago

Maybe shouldn't have gone for double 'pool mids, but when Ramsey got injured it seemed like a good idea.

Bring in either Kaboul or Bertrand?

Bertrand has the better next 5, but after that he has only 2 good fixtures in the following 9.
Kaboul, well the issue is do i trust the Spurs defence? Decent fixtures and 3 clean sheets in 7 isn't bad.

      Bertrand

2 clean sheets next 2 games

Why would you bring in Kaboul this week?

If i chose Kaboul i'd leave it til next week, and play Taylor, but if i chose Bertrand id do it this week for the prime fixture

Disregard my response below. Either plan makes sense.

      Kaboul.
I`ve got Berti but also have Naylor who can perfectly cover Bertie`s bad fixtures

I had spotted that nice rotation between Swansea and Southampton, made it quite tempting.
From GW13 Southmapton have quite a few tough fixtures, and Swansea covers them, equally Taylor's poor fixtures coincide with Bertrand's good ones

Quite a lot to spend on rotating defenders though

Playing a very long game with that move if you go Kaboul or Bertrand. Short term is not ideal.

        *Kaboul over Bertrand.

Bellerin, Nacho, Williamson or Dummett for a punt on a defender to rotate with Moore and Wisdom?

Was it Barkley who had around 40% ownership at the start of the season? 😀

      Yep. Why?

I remember a player or two with a confusing amount of ownership and it was bugging me.

It's a good example of how not sticking with the crowd can pay off at times.

Yaya's had a shocking FPL season so far. I expected a drop but not that much...

    Good to go

    Heaton

    Lovren Clyne Taylor

    Hazard Sterling ADM Sigurdsson

    Costa Aguero (c) Ulloa

    McCarthy Pieters Wisdom Boyd

    1FT 0.1 ITB

Save FT or Peiters to Alderweireld ? And swap for Taylor to double up on Southampton next 2GW

Next week I want to do -

    Chadli/Hendo & Dawson/Kaboul IN then Sterling & Pieters out.

Slowly want to free up funds to fit Aguero in the team.

    Opinions? Just planning ahead. 😉

Who should I pick for this gameweek?

    a) Moses
    b) Chadli

    Both have yellow flags. Thanks.

Moses is more likely to be fit
