After the best Gameweek tally in living memory, I reserve the right for a bit of a gloat. Having risked the Wildcard back in Gameweek 7, the stars aligned and everything fell into place last weekend, leaving my ScoutCast co-host, grumpy Granville, grabbing at straws and smashing TV sets in frustration.

After last season’s defeat, I revel in my moment of glory but still find time to lock horns with Granville over the great Costa debate. Is Jose playing with our minds? I certainly think so but, as Granville points out, I reckon the Lunar landings were fake. I love a good conspiracy, me.

Congratulate yourself via this link or bask in smugness via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Any ideas on what I should do with my team, guys?

    Forster / (McCarthy)
    N. Taylor / Clyne / Wisdom / (Duff) / (Wilson)
    Di Maria (*) / Sterling / Siggy / Fabregas / (Boyd)
    Aguero / Pelle / Costa (*)

    2 FT, 0.1 ITB.

    Cheers!

ADM seems likely to play, so you need to make a decision on Costa.

Bring welbeck in then upgrade defence

        Costa -> Welbeck
        Duff -> Baines

        Worth it?

    Out - Costa / Bardsley / Moses

Yes, but i'd prefer Baines if you can afford him over Coleman due to set piece / PK duties

  3. Stupendous
    12 years, 10 days ago

All the masses selling D.C how do you get him back next week?

Costa to Fab/Haz( obviously with a mid move)

But then say goodbye to Fab/Haz ahead of QPR home???

    1. Stupendous
      12 years, 10 days ago

Seems like MANY are completely reshaping entire squads and elevens to sell ONE GUY. One very impressive guy that is, and a guy who nobody really even knows a diagnosis of/on.

    2. Ludo
      12 years, 10 days ago

Straight back in for Berahino. If he's fit, that is. If not, I do Marney > Hazard and bench Sigurdsson.

    3. The Machine
      12 years, 10 days ago

People selling costa don't want him for qpr. They are taking a chance. A reasonable risk which could pay off if costa doesn't start

Ok ludo might but think he's in the minority

      I don't. And I'm OK with that 🙂

    6. Stupendous
      12 years, 10 days ago

      Am I missing something?

I cannot fathom how in roughly ten days, a fit again Costa, home, vs QPR is not essential???

Serious. I'm sure it has been spoken about at lengths already so I must be missing something.

I have started this year so well but this Costa business is killing me. No idea what the right plan is.

      1. Qubit
        12 years, 10 days ago

I don't think he is essential. But that's just me. 🙂

      2. Ludo
        12 years, 10 days ago

If he's fit again, I agree, it's about the best combination of player and fixture this season. However, we have no idea whether he will be available, there's no timescale on the injury at this point, so given that we can be confident he won't play this week, and have no idea about next week, it makes sense to me to sell, but have an escape plan to get him back in. Like Nate says though, I seem to be in a minority on this view.

    7. Zasa
      12 years, 10 days ago

Nah, I'll count my chickens for now. Hazard will do for that game w/ his form

      Yay or Nay?

      1. Ludo
        12 years, 10 days ago

Like Wakey says below, Hazard seems better without Costa. So if he isn't fit, it's a definite yay from me. Could also be the right time to make the swap anyway, though much less clear cut...

    4. Ludo

Interesting, thanks guys. Bookies say Chambers, but think I'd want to know Koscielny's back to be confident.

    1. Walsh

    3. Dr Dream
      12 years, 10 days ago

He'd be daft not to consider him..Schurrle may not have the overall quality of Oscar/Hazard/Willian when it comes to tracking back but he seldom let's him down for goals...

            12 years, 10 days ago

No..As I posted earlier..I'm convinced that Costa doesn't want him in his space (like RVP with Rooney) and that's why he's forever on the touchline. It's only since Costa has been out that Hazard has looked like his old self...coincidence ?..I don't think so...

            1. Bubz
              12 years, 10 days ago

So do I..I've had Hazard for over two years and he stays in my team come what may...He has definitely looked up these past two games but Oscar is the better pick I fear..or at least as good.

  10. Think Tank
    12 years, 10 days ago

    Forster

    Coleman Ivan Baines (Duff, Wisdom)

    Chadli Fab Tadic ADM (Hendo)

    Welbeck Aguero© Berahino

Berahino for 3 weeks, then Hendo to Boyd, ADM to Wally and Berahino to either Rooney/Costa. Good plan?

I'm telling you mate, with Dann and Delaney both out our back line is going to have some serious problems this weekend. I'm in the same boat as you re-Costa. I'm looking beyond one GW here and thinking he will be fit for QPR. I think I'll keep. There aren't any great short term alternatives and I'll want Costa back as soon as he's fit so I don't think there is much point selling.

    A) Keep Costa ready for 2FT, playing Downing if he doesn't play

    B) Costa > Bera / Welbeck for free, then straight back next week should Costa be fit

      1. John Nerdelbaum

Well, if he's declared fit you would but I doubt it will be that clear

        1. Kirby
          12 years, 10 days ago

          Yeah that's the thing.

I only would want to do free transfers, I believe Bera / Welbeck could get goals (and more points than Downing) though in the long-run I want Costa since only Aguero can match his goalscoring this season IMO.

          Cheers 🙂

    5. SuperDunny - Used to be goo…
      12 years, 10 days ago

I'm in the same spot and probably doing B with Berahino

      1. Kirby
        12 years, 10 days ago

Yeah it's tempting, with his price going down, if Costa doesn't play, the only negative I see is not having 2FT to play with next week, or of course the player I get in not scoring well but that's always a risk.

Don't want to get hurt by those who have swapped Costa out, tough one.

        1. SuperDunny - Used to be goo…
          12 years, 10 days ago

At least with Berahino i have the flexibility to look at Hazard/Fabregas next week. Selling Costa would leave me Chelsea-less ;(

          1. Kirby
            12 years, 10 days ago

Ohh right, yeah I think Chelsea coverage is essential of all the teams in line with Saints.

Hmmm I'll play it by ear, may wait till tomorrow to stretch it out as profit loss won't hurt me too much.

    6. reekster
      12 years, 10 days ago

Have you got a (long term) plan for your 2ft's?
If not, then roll the dice for the week.

      1. Kirby
        12 years, 10 days ago

Essentially they'd be there to fix my defence and get Baines in at least.

That would mean downgrading a midfielder or forward, so in that 2FT is needed to do it for free.

Trying not to lose any points at all, though I know it can be worth it...may have to go down the math route to work out potential losses and then go with my gut.

        Cheers 🙂

        1. reekster
          12 years, 10 days ago

Your defence looks fine. Cleanies are a lottery tbh.
You say you want Costa long term.
So who will you ditch for Baines, that he'll outscore, is the big question?

          1. Kirby
            12 years, 10 days ago

            Tis indeed.

Baines would take Naylor's place...then the one to downgrade would probably have to be Sterling for the likes of Chadli.

Guess I'm getting lured into the Baines temptation considering I never have him despite how well he scores on FPL.

I currently have A. But Sigurdsson will be gone for Chadli in the near future. I think having 3-4 of them is necessary. Probably like Welbeck least.

At the end of the season if you have any money left in the bank do they post that amount to you?

No, it carries over to the next season. So the tactic is to transfer out all your players for cheapies and have all that money to spend next season

Still unsure on DC. Just really annoying that it's QPR next up

How do you all like this team? Am I right benching Chambers?

    Adrian
    Baines, Clyne, Naylor
    Fabregas, Sterling, Tadic, Siggurdsson
    Welbeck, Aguero(c), Berahino

Chambers, Boyd, Moore 5.6itb no ft.

Costa back in next week was the plan hopefully he will be fit again for QPR. If he is that leads to the question on wether I should sell Berahino(lei) or Welbeck(BUR) for him?

I like it, good move benching Chambers. Ulloa won't do much against the Swans IMO,
off those fixtures, the former for DC if you insist
