The season could barely have started brighter for Raheem Sterling after the youngster grabbed two goals and an assist in the opening three Gameweeks for Liverpool. With Daniel Sturridge sidelined ever since, however, Sterling has struggled to replicate his early form, scoring just once and earning a pair of assists in the subsequent six Gameweeks.

Despite a weekend showdown against Newcastle on his agenda, Sterling is the most sold player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, with over 65,000 owners parting company in order to acquire the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Dusan Tadic and Cesc Fabregas.

In our second members article of the week, we take a look at his displays with and without Sturridge on the park in order to ascertain just why he’s failed to deliver.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Well, I've always hated S Davis since the second week for picking him as my fifth midfielder. Has dropped to 4.8, stopped me from getting Pelle/Bertrand, and also been hardly fashionable.

    But looks like he's doing fine. Nailed-on in the midfield three, getting forward well, and he has got me 9 points in the two games I needed him off the bench.

    Ah, already with an assist and two shots on target tonight.

    Nice article. And I think I'll keep him.

    But would you consider Sterling -> Hazard for free. I have Fabregas, but no Costa.

    Hello guys. Which would you prefer of the following?

    A) Rio -> Yun/Moore
    B) Naylor -> Chambers

    Begovic
    Naylor, Bertrand, Baines
    Tadic, Cesc, Siggy, Eriksen
    Costa, Pelle, Aguero

    subs: Gilks, Chester, Cattermole, Rio --- 1 FT, 0.1 ITB

      Awesome team mate. Both options are good imo. Depends if you need your bench but I'd probably ship Naylor for Chambers what with the Swans fixtures.

      Sure hope you do well this weekend as we have very similar teams: I have your same 3 forwards, 3 of your 4 mids (Hendo instead of Eriksen, but I like your guy better than mine!), and 1 of your 3 defenders (Baines, I have Clyne and Ward/Duff instead of Naylor). Oh, I have Howard instead of Bego. Good luck!

      I have both Baines and Coleman and love the security of it. In a vacuum, I think Coleman is worth it over Azpi.

      I got rid, partially regretting it since I forgot about the midweek games and I now have a potential injured Silva.

      When Sturridge gets back he will be a better prospect.

    Bego
    Baines Monero Bertrand
    Downing Siggy ADM Sterling
    Costa Pelle Naismith

    Gilks Albrighton Colo Chester

    2 FT 6.5m in bank.

    Opinions on shipping:

    Siggy -> Sanchez? Sounds crazy but Swans fixtures aren't the best.

    Lallana + Cazorla -> Hazard + Tadic (-4) will leave me 0.2 to do Sterling -> Walcott once the latter is fit and my team will be

    Heaton (Mannone)
    Baines, Moore, Clyne (Wisdom, N.Taylor)
    Sterling, ADM, Hazard (C), Tadic (Boyd)
    Aguero(vc), Pelle, Sakho

    Sakho will probably get benched so Boyd will take his place. Go for it?

    I really don't see why Pellegrini would risk the injury prone Silva in a mid week cup game with the wealth of options he has?

    Yes I am a Silva owner, but I can't understand why he would risk the build up play that him and Aguero have been producing in the league in a bid to chase Chelsea...
