Monitor – Raheem Sterling

The season could barely have started brighter for Raheem Sterling after the youngster grabbed two goals and an assist in the opening three Gameweeks for Liverpool. With Daniel Sturridge sidelined ever since, however, Sterling has struggled to replicate his early form, scoring just once and earning a pair of assists in the subsequent six Gameweeks.

Despite a weekend showdown against Newcastle on his agenda, Sterling is the most sold player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, with over 65,000 owners parting company in order to acquire the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Dusan Tadic and Cesc Fabregas.

In our second members article of the week, we take a look at his displays with and without Sturridge on the park in order to ascertain just why he’s failed to deliver.

          Long term though it's good. Stoke, Southampton and Swansea all have bad runs of fixtures coming up and you never really want to play Moore.

      One move I was considering was

      This week - ADM > Hazard

      Next week - Sterling/Welbeck > ADM/Sakho

      But ADM could easily go alright vs City, and Hazard hasn't shown much.

        I'm considering that exact move.....but I'm more likely to take the hit to dtich Sterling for him instead.

        I don't think ditching ADM is a very good idea, Manchester derby could be a goalfest, then it's CPL....Hazard could very well outscore him though.

    Interesting article. As a matter of curiosity, does anybody know what the average goal conversion % is? Or at least what you'd expect a top midfielder like Sterling to be achieving?

    6% seems ridiculously low and given the attempts he's sure to start firing again in the future...

      There is no single coherent definition of "cover" to debate. Narrowly it could mean the idea that all players on a team are equally likely to pick up points (boo). Broadly it could mean simply factoring fixtures into your transfer plans (yay).

      Looks OK to me :). My only criticism would be a bit too much of shoehorning in the most expensive at the expense of others. By monetary value you only have 4 'big hitters' (although I realise this is not necessarily a fair measure - Pelle has definitely been in that category so far) which would make me a little uncomfortable.

          Sanchez is certainly appealing but means you have to lose another big midfielder, Fab has been so consistent, as has ADM who has decent fixtures other than this week and Arsenal. I dont think it's worth it if you're doing it for a hit. I'd save it this week and look at your options with 2ft next week

    I am thinking Siggy will get 6-10 points max over the 3 weeks, which wont be significantly higher than Obertan/Boyd.

    No it's not. Sanchez looks like a terrific option based on recent weeks, while Siggy's fixtures turn red for the next free weeks. If I have the cash, I'd definitely do it.
