The season could barely have started brighter for Raheem Sterling after the youngster grabbed two goals and an assist in the opening three Gameweeks for Liverpool. With Daniel Sturridge sidelined ever since, however, Sterling has struggled to replicate his early form, scoring just once and earning a pair of assists in the subsequent six Gameweeks.

Despite a weekend showdown against Newcastle on his agenda, Sterling is the most sold player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, with over 65,000 owners parting company in order to acquire the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Dusan Tadic and Cesc Fabregas.

In our second members article of the week, we take a look at his displays with and without Sturridge on the park in order to ascertain just why he’s failed to deliver.

      I like the Everton Double up in Defence, Worked really well for me last year. Team looks good otherwise too.

      Captain Ageruo or Pelle. For me Pelle is in great form at the minute. Scored two last night, and hit the bar twice last week. Think i'll be picking him.

    Had Planned to do Krul to Forster this week but i'm unsure now after last nights result.

    Could Newcastle be about to go on a good run of form? Liv, WBA, QPR, WHM and BUR are their next 5. With Liverpool struggling to score at the minute they could hardle be better fixtures.

      Genuinely not sure what Pardew will do with the CB situation. Williamson was definitely ahead in the pecking order but in his absence S. Taylor hasn't done a great deal wrong. Dummett is the safer option, albeit Haidara poses a bit of a threat to his place but that's less likely to happen than Williamson ousting S Taylor.

      I'm just waiting for the R. Taylor wagon to get motoring - he had a good 90 minutes last night 😉

      Moreno out sounds good - I'd consider Kaboul given the fixtures and the fact I reckon he's got a goal in him sooner or later but Spurs haven't exactly been reliable recently. If anything I'd consider going for a cheapy and having the money to upgrade elsewhere if you decide you need to - Duff perhaps?

    Interesting article. As a matter of curiosity, does anybody know what the average goal conversion % is? Or at least what you'd expect a top midfielder like Sterling to be achieving?

    6% seems ridiculously low and given the attempts he's sure to start firing again in the future...

      Looks OK to me :). My only criticism would be a bit too much of shoehorning in the most expensive at the expense of others. By monetary value you only have 4 'big hitters' (although I realise this is not necessarily a fair measure - Pelle has definitely been in that category so far) which would make me a little uncomfortable.

          Sanchez is certainly appealing but means you have to lose another big midfielder, Fab has been so consistent, as has ADM who has decent fixtures other than this week and Arsenal. I dont think it's worth it if you're doing it for a hit. I'd save it this week and look at your options with 2ft next week

      B this week, but long term, A. Think you should look long term on this one. God knows you'll be decimating your team to fit Costa and Sigurdsson when they get returns again.

    I am thinking Siggy will get 6-10 points max over the 3 weeks, which wont be significantly higher than Obertan/Boyd.

    But Hazard probably will score > Chadli.
