          How come people are scared of Sterling? Is it because of that article?                   You've got part of the concept.

                  But it doesn't apply here, because he's ultimately Sanchez will have a reversion to the mean.
                  If anybody's been underperforming over over performing ultimately they should revert to mean. Like Yaya from last year or Ulloa beginning of this season.

                    Sure he will get some low scores over the season and as such revert to the mean (whatever that may be)

                    but you can't say the next fixture is more likely for him to blank because of the last 2

                    If anything good form is a positive indicator, particularly with Burnley at home

                      But he like Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas will ultimately revert to the mean.

                      It's actually a financial concept we use, but I find it very useful here too.

                        I was referring specifically to the "three in a row" part of the comment. Agree with you on the rest.

                        Also remember though that some players do genuinely play well all season - I guess you could say their 'mean' is very high:

                        Ronaldo, Messi, Suarez last season etc. We never know who the next one could be. Could be Sanchez after all 😀

                          Ah, I wish - but it has to be backed up by shots right. Ronaldo and Suarez were shot monsters - Ronaldo AVERAGES 7 shots a game!! That's around Aguero did vs Spurs and you saw the result.

                        Interesting, but it doesn't account for improvement of players. Their mean can also change due to "the blossoming of talent". Look at Ramsey last season... But you're right about DC and Cesc, because they are almost at their top probably.

                          I agree with you totally. But it has to be backed up a a crazy number of shots. Like Aaron Ramsey who took a crazy number of shots.

                          For DC to score at this rate he needs a Ronaldo number of shots, and Cesc needs like 7odd kps a game.

                Sanchez is the obvious choice if you have all three and are risk averse...

                You know the effort you get from him every week. They are playing Burnley...Sanchez does not take his foot off the pedal...a goal or assist minimum, not too many threats up top for United to worry about other than Kun...
