welbeck vs sanchez is a good example why "attacking coverage" does not mean much

So here is my theory on Michael Oliver's piss poor ref performance. N

Do you guys remember the Liverpool vs West Brom game GW7, Michael Oliver is the one who called the Lovren PK on Berahino which was clearly outside the box.

The following week (GW8) he tried to put his foot down on wrestling in box and called a gutsy PK on Shawcross. Later in that game, he gifted Moses a PK, which caused a bit of controversy in the media following

My guess is that he got some heat from the league or possibly the fans which made him hesitant to call a PK today. Almost seemed like he was determined not to give a PK.

Ironically, now he is getting heat for not pulling the trigger on some clear cut penalties. If MCity would've tied or lost, then this would be a much bigger deal. I'm surprised no one in the media has pointed this out.

By the way, I'm not an Aguero owner so this is not a rant, just my personal opinion.

If anything, his questionable refereeing limited the damage I took this week.

    Thoughts anyone?

many players fell prone to a mystery falling over illness in the derby match imo
and yes i am a citeh fan
the refs main involvement on the game was the red-for me that was caused by the player sent off

Difficult to remove human nature and referee bias. You could tell he was too weak for the game, intimidated even (Joe Hart's face to face). All pen shouts last night were valid pens. For both teams.

      Probably something to that argument.
Refs are human and cannot react like machines. They are subject to pressure and biases and and will certainly make mistakes.
As an Aguero captainer, I'm disappointed that he didn't end up being awarded 4 penalties, but these things happen. No need for outrage.

I felt the referee's performance mirrored that of both teams - piss poor. Very disappointing game for the neutrals overall and a shoddy advertisement for the Premier League. Chelsea were the clear winners here. There's a long way to go yet but Mourinho must feel he has one hand on the trophy if he watched the game.

Worst part was that Zabaleta's challenge on RVP only a few minutes before Smalling's resembled it exactly and yet Oliver didn't book Zaba.

        That wasn't the worst part...

There were more examples of that though...Clichy's 'tackle' (in the rugby/AFL/NFL meaning) of Januzaj that went unpunished.

I went for Berahino just to avoid doubling up on WHam. But if you don't mind putting a few eggs in the same basket, then doubling up is not crazy.
As for the hit... I'm not sure that it is worth it stand-alone. My transfer was to fund getting Sanchez. But Naismith could very well outscore Sakho-4 this week.

    Begovic (McCarthy)
    Clyne Bertrand Naylor (Wilson, Moore)
    Fabregas ADM(vc) Downing Sigurdsson (Boyd)
    Aguero(c) Costa Berahino

What to do with the other FT? 3.0m in the bank

    A. Berahino > Pelle
    B. Sigurdsson > Tadic
    C. Other?

    Thoughts appreciated

You don't have Sanchez!? Unacceptable! You must conform to the new template!
Seriously, though, it is certainly not worth taking a -8 to fit him in.
Pelle looks like a great option this week, but Southampton's fixtures turn after gw12.
Maybe save the extra transfer for the international break.

Cheers El Cromulente. Ha! Not adhering to the template has cost me the past couple of GWs. Still happy to not have Sanchez in the side though. Will wait to see how the cards fall once Walcott is back in the starting XI.
It'll either be Berahino > Pelle or save the FT for the upcoming GW. A little hesitant to shift Berahino though, with the Baggies at home to Newcastle this week.

Stoke have a tough patch of upcoming fixtures. I think there's value to be had elsewhere in DEF. Add the fact that Cameron isn't a certain starter... risky pick IMO

I think he is a certain starter. Was by far the best player on the pitch for stoke imo. Whelan is also injured for the next month or so, meaning he will slot in easily in that mid-field spot. Try telling me a better option at 4.5 or under. I already own Foster and Dummett

From the perspective of a double Stoke DEF owner (Begovic & Wilson), they've offered minimal returns so far this season. Cameron at the price appears to be value, but the lack of Stoke CS, mean he's no better value than a Burnley, Aston Villa, West Ham, QPR defender- all of whom have better upcoming fixtures than Stoke. Just an opinion though

Villa have conceded 2 + goals in the last 5 or so games. No west ham defender at 4.5 or under is nailed. And im not touching a QPR defender...

Consudering that it is close to my actual team, I have to like it.
But I don't think that Kane is viable long-term. If you spend all your cash to get Terry, then not having the funds to upgrade Kane is really problematic.

I'd buy before it's too late. Essentially a strikers return from a midfielder in the game

I brought him in Saturday night... Rather defensive move. Worried about getting burned points-wise and in terms of team value.

What do people think of Cazorla? His finishing has been dire but he's been getting off an awful lot of shots in the box. Until Ozil gets back he will be playing very close to the strikers.

Sanchez or Walcott are the only Arsenal mids I'm interested in. Could be a decent punt but hasn't shown any signs of consistent form really

I knew it had to happen eventually but I saw my first red arrow of the season! Dropped a whole 9 places and now sit in 41st . Kicking myself for not doing Sterling + Welbeck > Sanchez + Berahino/Sakho last week with my 2 FTs like I had planned. I went the conservative route and did PVA > Chambers and saved a FT for next week so wasn't all bad! I finished with a decent 75 points considering I captained Costa this week

The real question now is do I still go after Sanchez or is it too late? swa + MUN over the next two aren't the greatest fixtures and surely by then Walcott will be an option? Perhaps do Sterling > Chadli? Could use the extra money to upgrade Welbeck as well

I was thinking the same..generally when a player gets 3 big hauls..he stops after that...there are some exceptions..but we don't know whether Sanchez is one or not...Don't want to disrupt my team because of a single player..but he could destroy my team as well

He's bordering the way too expensive range. I fear if I don't get him now then I probably never will. Contemplating taking my 2nd hit of the season. Thoughts on something like this?

        Sterling + Welbeck + Naylor > Sanchez + Sakho + Saylor (-4)

I did Costa + Naylor + Sterling > Sanchez + Baines + Sakho (-4) which is similar. I'd go it.

My aim for after the break
The 3 amigos (Sanchez AdM Aguero ) +
    Costa & Hazard +
    Baines
Rest of team will consist of a budget 3rd forward , Boyd , 3 decent cheapie defenders and a solid sub 5.m Gk

Only player I'm worried about after transferring out is Welbeck. He seemed unlucky to have a few himself Sat? I guess Sahko is a viable replacement.

Siggy and more so Sterling don't worry me so much with Sanchez and Downing performing

So i need a 9 million and below punt to warm a spot for Wally until he's fit and raring to go again..
Considerin Oscar. Good fixtures. Seems nailed on now and in good form. 36 points in 5 games cant be ignored really.. Any better short term punt?

I switched from chadli to downing just now, for the following reasons

    Thoughts of this team :
    Bego
    Baines Chambers Duff
    Hazard Downing DiMaria Sanchez
    Berahino Costa Aguero
*I can get that with a -8 after the break will captain Costa for WBA
Bego Berahino will soon become Adrian Sakho after
