The Gameweek rolls on with one of those “titanic clashes” between the Manchester rivals.

A potential feast for the neutral, City host United in an encounter that boasts a rich supply of attacking talent and a pair of suspect defences: there will surely be goals on offer. Fantasy managers will certainly be hoping that’s the case, with Sergio Aguero and Angel di Maria found in 25% and 38% of Fantasy Premier League squads respectively.

The team news from the Etihad finds Wayne Rooney making a return to the United lineup following suspension, with Juan Mata dropping to the bench as expected. Antonio Valencia earns a start, presumably at right-back, with Rafael missing out through injury sustained in training on Thursday. City are also forced into changes as David Silva sits out with a knee injury, while Edin Dzeko drops to the bench. Eliaquim Mangala is out of the City squad with reports suggesting that he’s nursing a hip problem – James Milner, Martin Demichelis and Stevan Jovetic all earn starts for Manuel Pellegrini. The Chilean has also been forced into a late change, with Aleks Kolarov injuring himself in the warm-up to be replaced by Gael Clichy.

The big derby clash is followed at 4pm by Tottenham’s trip to Aston Villa – a suitably stodgy dessert to follow today’s big roast.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Im a united fan but I m going to make a case for rojo. I thought he was first to the ball and his swinging leg was disrupted by Toure.

At half time do refs see replays of incidents like the peno appeals etc?

Maybe he was reluctant to give after issuing the red.
Hope he knows he got it wrong twice.
Maybe the assistanta will let him know.

He ll give the next one!

Lots on here trying to reassure themselves re: Aguero - just admit - it doesn't look like his day today ...

2 penalties not given, an assist which Navas missed and DDG playing amazing.

Would I be correct in assuming that all the people on here blaming the red, Fellaini and Rojo have Aguero in their teams?

I do too but frankly Citeh haven't created enough chances to be relying on anything other penalties

Aguero has had 2 good chances, one well saved and the other he could have passed it into the box for an assist.

Not to mention Navas' golden opportunity

I'm sure Yaya Toure would rather have not been fouled, but he was, so it was a penalty.

If you watch the replay of the Rojo tackle, he BARELY grazes Yaya's right leg on the swing and then tips the ball in between Yaya's legs and then doesn't touch him any further. Penalty, probably, red, no.

so based on that logic if the ball is crossed in the air and a striker is fouled before scoring a header that isn't a goal scoring opportunity?

it has to be a clear goal scoring opportunity to be a red, that's why you don't see pens and a red very often

            1. Mungo Jerry
              • 11 Years
              11 years, 1 month ago

Fair enough if the ball was meters up in the air but the ball was right by the spot of the foul and thus denied a goal scoring opportunity. Your logic doesn't account for headers, first time strikes etc.

Do you guys remember the Liverpool vs West Brom game GW7, Michael Oliver is the one who called the Lovren PK on Berahino which was clearly outside the box, then he gifted Moses a PK a week later so I think he may be reluctant to call a PK today because of the heat he has been getting. Today he will get heat for not calling PKs!! What do you guys think?!?!
