Having run the rule over the sides set to ease their way into December, it’s now time to check on the teams granted a more treacherous path. Monday night’s participants provide the headline acts, while a cloud is hovering ominously over the Potteries. Elsewhere, we offer early warnings on some prime Fantasy assets on show at St Mary’s and the Emirates.

Sunderland

“frisking

Sunderland’s victory at Crystal Palace was all the more crucial given the schedule awaiting both clubs going into December.

Gus Poyet’s side will be desperate to build on the precious three points earned at Selhurst Park but find themselves on a collision course with Everton, Chelsea and Man City in their next three home matches. It’s fair to say that new stopper, Costel Pantilimon, will be kept busy during that period, while Steven Fletcher’s revival will be put to the test given that opportunities could be at a premium in the coming weeks. Poyet has earned results against the “bigger” teams before of course but, even so, the away trip to Leicester in Gameweek 12 looks vital if the Black Cats are to avoid being dragged back down into the relegation places by Christmas.

Crystal Palace

“frisking

Neil Warnock will have known the significance of Monday’s loss, with the fixture computer conspiring against his side over the next five Gameweeks.

A trip to Old Trafford without their suspended skipper Mile Jedinak and attacking spark, Wilfried Zaha, is followed by a home clash with Liverpool and a visit to Swansea. The Eagles then have a crunch clash with Villa at home, before taking on Spurs at the Lane.

Fantasy managers will have been warned off their inconsistent assets following Monday’s defeat and the schedule offers very little incentive to revisit Warnock’s charges until that Villa meeting.

Stoke

“frisking

Pegged back by West Ham on Saturday, Mark Hughes’s men face a torrid run over their next five, with the Britannia meeting with Burnley in Gameweek 12 looking crucial to their chances of retaining a mid-table position. Around that Potteries clash, Stoke face three evil away trips to Spurs, Liverpool and Man United and then a home encounter with Arsenal.

Hughes’ rearguard has shipped seven goals in their last four: if you’ve held your Stoke defensive assets through that period, now is the time to show them the door.

Also be wary of…

Southampton
Ronald Koeman’s outfit currently look unstoppable – capable of scoring goals across the team and reinforced by the best defence in the Premier League. That winning formula will be put to the test, however, once they’ve disposed of the St Mary’s meeting with Leicester and a “routine” trip to the woefully out-of-form Villa. City, Arsenal and United are hovering and they offer enough attacking menace to have us check for alternatives to our Saints defensive assets from Gameweek 13 onwards.

West Brom
While the Baggies face a pair of Hawthorns clashes with Newcastle and West Ham in the next four, encounters with Arsenal and Chelsea are sandwiched in the middle. When you consider Newcastle’s resurgence and West Ham’s goal power, you’d have to say that those holding Ben Foster or Andre Wisdom will be anticipating scant returns from that quartet. Meanwhile, Saido Berahino owners will likely be holding with one eye on West Ham’s Diafra Sakho as a cheaper replacement with stronger fixtures to come.

Arsenal
While the Gunners are being fired by the genius of Alexis Sanchez, Arsene Wenger’s flat-track bullies do not have the easiest of runs in the coming weeks. They may well get results against Swansea, United, West Brom and Southampton but – on paper – they’re up against three of the most improved defences over that spell. Bizarrely, given United’s casualties at the back, the Emirates meeting with Louis van Gaal’s men may actually provide the best platform for goals.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Yum or caulker ?

Caulker was all the rage not long ago, good fixtures and goal threat yet no-one seems to have him!

The biggest problem i saw is that QPR didn't appear to be using Caulker in a way that was great for his goal potential! Everytime i saw QPR recently they were aiming for Caulker and then looking for the knock downs. Not letting him attack the ball and try to score

Would appreciate comments on this lot. Had a great week last week (Sanchez Captain) but have some holes appearing now. I haven’t played my WC. Second in my mini league.

Players I want to keep: Aguerro, Pelle, Fabregas, Baines, Chambers, Wisdom, Krul/Myhill
Players I’m questioning: Sterling, Siggy, Welbeck
Players I want out: Van Aanholt, Hutton, Larsson
Players I want in: Hazard, Downing or Sakho, Costa if I WC

I’m tempted to Wildcard, both to bring Costa and Hazard in and to sort out all the injuries. I could do this more gradually and save it, probably smarter, but what would be a good first move?

    Bring in Downing for Larsson?
    Then Dummett for PVA?

This week I went a bit mad and did 4 transfers:

    Iva-Dummett
    Sterling-Boyd
    Welbeck-Aguero
    Ramsey-Sanchez

I think these will pay off in the long run but should I WC to get back -12 and tweak? Doesn't seem the correct week to be doing it looking at the fixtures. Team is:

    Lloris Folks
    Chambers Baines Dummett Hutton Wisdom
Sanchez Siggy Tadic Di Maria Boyd
    Sakho Aguero Costa

They look like the sort of transfers you should have made last week

There is no 'correct week' to play your wildcard, it comes down to each individual and their team. I played mine last week and ended up with 84 points, top of most of my mini leagues and no need to make any changes this week so I will have 2 transfers after the international break - but then others wouldn't have done it in my position

12 points is a lot to lose but if you are happy with that loss then keep with what you have, its a decent team

That Toby Alderweireld is being very accommodating to the game. He has 6 starts with 4 CS's and hardly any buyers (1%)...He'll be a nice easy way back into the Soton defence later on for anybody cashing in on Clyne and Bertrand when the fixtures change.

Probably yeah once they start losing again. Irvine isn't gonna change that centre back partnership anytime soon though imo

No one knows. United have not gotten a penalty under LvG when both are on the pitch.

Rooney has taken one for LvG though and is the captain. It's anyone's guess.

Should be rvp. Rooney actually handed rvp the duties before as he was missing so many.

Siggy > Downing seems to be the mail conundrum this week.

Have to do tonight before price changes - anyone doing/done this?

Siggy great fixtures in 2 weeks but snooze you lose in this. Downing has form and fixtures and the cash is useful...will make 0.4 on Siggy...

Happy to get Downing in too.

But wondering if sacrificing Siggy is going to hurt. Likely his price will drop with two tough fixtures and an international break in between?

      1. GENERATION X

I just think slight injury concern,2 poor fixtures and likely price fall justifies it, plus Downing with Villa home is the icing...

Decided to go b@lls out with my WC.. had a good defense all season and it's not helped me one bit. so..

    Foster Myhill
    Baines Wisdom Naughton Yun Saylor
    Hazard Adm Sanchez Downing Boyd
    Aguero Costa Sakho

Hazard and Naughton to Wally/Sterling and Naylor/Azpilicueta in 2 weeks..

Hows she looking? Not convinced by Chambers, Clichy is as short term as Naughton really, Clyne has poor fixtures in 2 weeks and i need a break from the Chelsea defense after owning Terry all season.

Scraping the barrel. But's that's the only way to fit all the big boys in.

Anyway you can get Pele in for the next two instead of Sakho? Maybe Downgrade Haz to Cesc?

I love that team, Valar. Naughton only one I'd change with Walker due back semi-soonish....but with rotating four defenders for two spots it might be worth keeping. I'd look at Cameron even though they have hellish fixtures.

I was thinking last week about which of the following is worse

      A) Selling a player only for him to score
      B) Opting not to buy a player who goes on to score

      Definitely B.

      Disagree with the above lads.
Newcastle are back on tracks and will prob score.
I like the odds for some attacking returns from Boyd instead.

And Hull are not that much into defense this season. Plus if I recall correctly they are missing some central defenders and might not line up 3 central backs

Really struggling to decide what to do this week.

    Begovic
    Baines Bertrand Chester
    Fabregas Sterling Tadic Siggy
    Aguero Costa Pelle

    Gilks Wisdom Marney Moore

    2 FTs, 0m ITB

Hazard or Sanchez for Sterling sounds good but have no idea where to downgrade...

      • 12 Years
      11 years, 8 months ago

maybe Sterling to Downing this week,
Tadic or Siggy to ADM or Sanchez the next week..
even Pelle to Sakho to fund the big mids..

      Pelle to Berahino/Sakho
      Sterling to Sanchez

But that's a tough decision with Southampton's next 2 fixtures.
