Having run the rule over the sides set to ease their way into December, it’s now time to check on the teams granted a more treacherous path. Monday night’s participants provide the headline acts, while a cloud is hovering ominously over the Potteries. Elsewhere, we offer early warnings on some prime Fantasy assets on show at St Mary’s and the Emirates.

Sunderland

“frisking

Sunderland’s victory at Crystal Palace was all the more crucial given the schedule awaiting both clubs going into December.

Gus Poyet’s side will be desperate to build on the precious three points earned at Selhurst Park but find themselves on a collision course with Everton, Chelsea and Man City in their next three home matches. It’s fair to say that new stopper, Costel Pantilimon, will be kept busy during that period, while Steven Fletcher’s revival will be put to the test given that opportunities could be at a premium in the coming weeks. Poyet has earned results against the “bigger” teams before of course but, even so, the away trip to Leicester in Gameweek 12 looks vital if the Black Cats are to avoid being dragged back down into the relegation places by Christmas.

Crystal Palace

“frisking

Neil Warnock will have known the significance of Monday’s loss, with the fixture computer conspiring against his side over the next five Gameweeks.

A trip to Old Trafford without their suspended skipper Mile Jedinak and attacking spark, Wilfried Zaha, is followed by a home clash with Liverpool and a visit to Swansea. The Eagles then have a crunch clash with Villa at home, before taking on Spurs at the Lane.

Fantasy managers will have been warned off their inconsistent assets following Monday’s defeat and the schedule offers very little incentive to revisit Warnock’s charges until that Villa meeting.

Stoke

“frisking

Pegged back by West Ham on Saturday, Mark Hughes’s men face a torrid run over their next five, with the Britannia meeting with Burnley in Gameweek 12 looking crucial to their chances of retaining a mid-table position. Around that Potteries clash, Stoke face three evil away trips to Spurs, Liverpool and Man United and then a home encounter with Arsenal.

Hughes’ rearguard has shipped seven goals in their last four: if you’ve held your Stoke defensive assets through that period, now is the time to show them the door.

Also be wary of…

Southampton
Ronald Koeman’s outfit currently look unstoppable – capable of scoring goals across the team and reinforced by the best defence in the Premier League. That winning formula will be put to the test, however, once they’ve disposed of the St Mary’s meeting with Leicester and a “routine” trip to the woefully out-of-form Villa. City, Arsenal and United are hovering and they offer enough attacking menace to have us check for alternatives to our Saints defensive assets from Gameweek 13 onwards.

West Brom
While the Baggies face a pair of Hawthorns clashes with Newcastle and West Ham in the next four, encounters with Arsenal and Chelsea are sandwiched in the middle. When you consider Newcastle’s resurgence and West Ham’s goal power, you’d have to say that those holding Ben Foster or Andre Wisdom will be anticipating scant returns from that quartet. Meanwhile, Saido Berahino owners will likely be holding with one eye on West Ham’s Diafra Sakho as a cheaper replacement with stronger fixtures to come.

Arsenal
While the Gunners are being fired by the genius of Alexis Sanchez, Arsene Wenger’s flat-track bullies do not have the easiest of runs in the coming weeks. They may well get results against Swansea, United, West Brom and Southampton but – on paper – they’re up against three of the most improved defences over that spell. Bizarrely, given United’s casualties at the back, the Emirates meeting with Louis van Gaal’s men may actually provide the best platform for goals.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Therefore he should play the exact same team against Liverpool as he does against Maribor, otherwise he's bringing the game into disrepute.

    Sanchez Sanchez Sanchez, can't get him out of my mind but can't afford him without selling a big hitter. However, is Walcott a better option long term? A 1.7 saving is alot.

    PS I'm going Walcott and need you to tell me I'm onto a winner so I can feel better about myself.

      I missed the boat on Sanchez too and am convincing myself that the saving on Walcott in 2 weeks will be worthwhile. You have to think he'll score similarly for almost 2m less, so is better value in that respect.

    I was considering a Sanchez Walcott double up soon but this article is right, Arsenal's fixtures are deceptively bad for attacking returns. Swansea, United, West Brom and Southampton are improving defensively.

    If you had to choose 1 of these who would it be
    A. Sahko
    B. Pele

    If that's to hard, here is a combo
    A. Naismith, Sterling -> sahko barkley/Chadli/downing/other
    B. Naismith Begovic, sterling -> Pele, downing foster -4

    I have had some responses more toward A but that's before I narrowed it to this.

      Could see Sanchez. No real reasoning other then Wenger may want him as top scorer, which he could be capable of.
      And a big middle finger to the days of RVP.
      That or Welbz to give him confidence.

      He'll play, but I'd still transfer him to Sanchez. Our attack is still lacking any urgency or cohesion, so I'd be surprised if he got many points against Chelsea.

        Aye. Can see it taken lightly for individuals that are not affected by DS personally, but it would be very offensive to those who have family/friends with it.

        My moral compass tells me to have a word with him and i think i'm right! Can't say the same about my captaincy decisions :S

          I know lots of people with Down Syndrome...To use their condition in any way as an insult or a "joke" is offensive to them...That includes that awful R****d word and that M**g word...It's deeply cruel when you know the effect on some of those people...

              I think in this situation you have to be careful how you approach it. Clearly he needs to change it, but you don't want any threat to kick him out to come across as sour grapes. It's made more awkward by you not knowing the guy personally.

                Yea exactly. Abit of a moral dilemma. Hopefully he sees it as a lack of judgment and changes it willingly - can't possibly imagine him being stubborn about it.

                Definitely don't want to come across as bitter. I'll approach the boards again if his reply is unfavourable! Cheers JK.

    Guys I have a conundrum! It's unusual tho because I'm very happy with my team but I have money to spend so I'm trying to think of the best way to spend it.

    Team is::

    Guzan/Given

    Bertrand - Kaboul - Chambers - Wisdom - Dummett

    Downing - Hazard - Sanchez - Eriksen - Albrighton

    Pelle - Aguero - Welbeck

    I have £3.2m in the bank and one FT

    Currently I'm thinking:

    Week 1 - Welbeck --> Sakho
    Week 2 - Eriksen --> Oscar
    Week 3 - Kaboul --> Clichy (until kolarov is back)

    Any other ideas? Thank youuuuuuu 🙂

      If Kolarov is only out for a month, you may miss the boat on Clichy if you wait until Week 3 (which is a month away).

    Sod it, I’m going for Sanchez.

    Narrowed the team reorg down to the following choices:

    a) Nasri, Welbeck, Moore > Sanchez, Sakho, Saylor/Yun
    (Sanchez & Sakho leave me 0.1 short, hence Moore to 3.9)

    b) Nasri, Boyd, Welbeck > Sanchez, Downing, Zamora (and play 3-5-2)

    Price to pay will be an 8 point hit.

    Current team:

    Begovic McCarthy
    Duff Baines Moore Clyne Ivanovic
    Boyd Nasri Siggy Di Maria Hazard
    Welbeck Pelle Costa

    What do you reckon?

        I reckon an injection of Kane may help his output too.

        I'd rather Sakho as a cheap 3rd striker with Chadli my 4th mid (I've had him since 6m so maybe that's why I'm reluctant to switch.)
