Our Watchlist rankings, which offer player recommendations over the next four-to-six Gameweeks, have been updated over the last 24 hours.

There’s little movement between the sticks, with Southampton’s Fraser Forster holding on at the top ahead of clashes with Leicester and Villa before the schedule toughens in Gameweek 12 (MCI, ars, MNU). West Ham’s Adrian is positioned just below the former Celtic stopper and, at 5.0, is an emerging prospect with some excellent home encounters to come (AVL, NEW, SWA, LEI).

Tim Krul is the week’s main climber, having only conceded once in his last three. The Newcastle keeper’s appeal is slightly dented by the number of strong budget options in the Magpies’ defence, though, with Paul Dummett and Steven Taylor the standout options at just 4.1 and 3.9 respectively.

Meanwhile, Swansea’s Lukas Fabianski and West Brom’s Ben Foster are ones to watch, with both facing four home matches in their next six.

In defence, Leighton Baines’ grip on the top spot remains unchallenged – the left back has averaged 9.6 points per appearance over his last three and faces a string of good home matches in the upcoming weeks (WHM, HUL, QPR, STO). Ryan Bertrand remains in third, though is under threat from the climbing Aaron Cresswell, whose attacking threat and plum fixture list have seen him emerge as a superb differential option in recent weeks. Calum Chambers is also still in our top five after his huge 18-point haul against Burnley, though Arsenal do have some tricky fixtures to come, including clashes with Man United and Southampton in their next four.

Further down, Man City’s Gael Clichy has been added as a new entry with his starts looking assured now that Aleksander Kolarov is set to be sidelined for at least a month. At 5.3, Clichy offers managers a cheaper alternative to Vincent Kompany in a backline that faces QPR, Sunderland and Leicester in their next six. Steven Taylor (3.9), QPR’s Yun Suk Young (3.9) and Spurs’ Kyle Naughton (4.3) are new entries in the budget bracket, with the latter looking set to cement the right-back role with Kyle Walker seemingly out of action for the foreseeable future.

As with the defence, there’s no movement at the summit of our midfield rankings – Alexis Sanchez remains the clear leader, having notched double figures in each of his last three appearances, whilst Dusan Tadic and Angel Di Maria also hold their places in the top three.

It’s all change below them, however, with the out-of-form duo of Raheem Sterling and Gylfi Siggurdsson dropping down the standings, despite Liverpool’s (CHE, cpl, STO, lei, SUN) and Swansea’s (ARS, mci, CPL, QPR, whm) decent schedules. Stewart Downing is the main beneficiary here, climbing up to fourth after his 13-point showing for the Hammers last time out.

Chelsea’s Oscar is the new name amongst the upper echelons of the rankings, replacing team-mate Cesc Fabregas thanks to his current form and more budget friendly price tag of 8.3. Owned by just 4.1% of managers in FPL, the Brazilian has tallied three goals and an assist in his last five, and looks a great asset amongst the Blues’ ranks right now, though the explosive Eden Hazard remains the preferred option. Another factor in Fabregas’ omission is that he sits just a single booking away from a one-match ban.

The quartet of Wilfried Zaha, Chris Brunt, Moussa Sissoko and Ross Barkley are the new entries – all offer managers potential differentials across the coming weeks.

Up top, it’s the same story once again, with no one managing to topple Sergio Aguero from his seat the zenith of our rankings. Diafra Sakho does, however, move into second, with his form and fixtures making a mockery of a current 5.8 price tag. The Senegal international takes the place of Graziano Pelle, whose tightrope status and stiffening schedule sees him drop to third.

Charlie Austin, Harry Kane and Steven Fletcher are a trio of new entries and budget differential options. Austin’s current form is bettered only by Aguero, whilst Fletcher has grabbed double figure hauls in two of his last four and comes up against Leicester’s shaky defence in Gameweek 12.

    1) Eriksen, Costa --> Chadli, Aguero for -4?
    2) Clyne --> Chambers?

    Team:

Bego/ Wisdom, Clyne, Baines/ Downing, Tadic, Eriksen, Di Maria, Sanchez/Costa, Pelle (duff, moore, sakho)

    Torn on captain this weekend.

Aguero is in form but I'm not sure City will respond well to their midweek loss.
Sanchez is in form, but with a tougher fixture - though he could also be on pens with Arteta out.
ADM hasn't struck in recent weeks, but has been a flat track bully so far, has the best fixture and had a rest in midweek.

Wouldn't let the yellow bother me unless he was a defender or center mid. I rmbr some holding off Suarez last season because he was on 4 yellows....he went like what, 10 games without getting another yellow?

On the plus side at least when he picks up the yellow it might be for taking his top off after scoring.

Seeing a lot on familiar posters on here, what are your thoughts regarding Ivanovic?

I do have Baines already, so maybe that's one of the reasons I've not been that tempted to ship him out. I've clung on to him in the hope that he will get me returns at some point or the other but that hasn't happened. Having said that, he was very unlucky not to have scored at Old Trafford and this weekend against QPR. But with the upcoming fixtures and Chelsea's great defensive stats, would it be sensible to ship him out?

    liv,WBA,sun,TOT,new,HUL,sto,WHM

Do you think I should keep him for the long run, or should he get the chop if he fails against WBA?

I think I'll end up keeping him all season long, I have a feeling Chelsea will go on a run of clean sheets very soon as they always seem to do

Replied on previous post but repost anyway!

I think the logic that led heavy investment in Baines was that he basically plays like a permanent left winger this season especially now given Mirallas isn't fit.

I think the term was "clean sheets are just an added bonus for Baines this season"

Can see 5 clean sheets out of those games - good enough to keep personally. BPS whore too. Caveat, might reassess when Mirallas is back.

It's between these 3 options after the West Brom game, given that he fails to record a clean sheet or attacking return:

        1) Ship for Azpi
        2) Ship for Coleman
        3) Persist and keep given the fixtures

        1. Walsh
          • 12 Years
          11 years, 5 months ago

It's just a sunk cost of 1.2 million for me. He's not doing nearly enough getting forward in open play to justify his price tag at all currently. I'd rather have Azpil or Coleman than him and it's not even close at this point.

I just had a look at my fullbacks table and would suggest that you keep him. There's no great attacking alternative that I can see, though Cresswell and Chambers represent great value. Consider Robertson too, keeps popping up everywhere, and his fixtures turn soon.

I had him since GW3, unfortunately this was after his points rush. Chelsea defence isn't as solid as usual this year. He has been frustrating to own since, culminating in a last minute red card costing CS points. I got rid this week for a cheaper option. Not worth the hassle for the money. At the same price range I'd rather have baines or coleman.

The stats do suggest that they are tightening up though. I got him in game week 7 on my WC, and he hasn't lived up to his price tag at all. As I said, I do have Baines.

He came very close to scoring last week. I'm giving him two more weeks, because he's a player I rely enjoy having in my team, but yes after that he will have to go if he fails.

That said, he's also the kind of relentless destroyer that it's great to own over the winter period.

Remember the watchlist's prime aim is to recommend players to get in over the coming weeks. With four yellows and stronger goal threat from Oscar and Hazard there is a case for saying that he is behind those two as a player to bring in. Of course he's a good player, but with Chelsea's strong defence and a certain Mr Costa we wanted to narrow down our Chelsea recommendations - currently Oscar and Haz don't have that threat of suspension.

      Was this a WC?

      Changes required are:
      - Mannone out (he's been dropped)
      - Moore out (as above)
      - Al Ahmedi out
      - Better 4th midfielder than boyd as a starter

If not on a wildcard it's fine

Do Mannone to Elliot (Newc). That way your starter is Krul and sub is his replacement (if injured/dropped). Use money elsewhere.

I'll put in a call and see when that old sod is going to be back in. Lowton I thought was actually one of Villa's best players in that Spurs game so I am getting nervous he will walk right back into his spot. I think he will do, but come on man, where are you Alan?

Would you play Chester (bur) or Coloccini (wba) this week? I think it's a tricky one, with Newcastle looking improved defensively, but Burnley being woeful on the attacking front. Thoughts?

That is very tricky indeed. I'd go with Chester. Even though Hull play relatively openly Burnley are that bad going forward in comparison to West Brom I think that is what edges it for me.

Yeah, I'm on Chester currently. Only problem is Hull's defensive stats are terrible. But Burnley's attacking stats kind of even it out. I can see West Brom scoring though, so yeah, probably stick with Chester. Cheers.

With My front 7 looking ok this week I'm going to take the opportunity to ditch Begovic who has been a major disappointment so far and has a horrific schedule coming up. Only going to spend 4.5 and have Gilks as my bench fodder. Is the best option then

A Heaton to double up burnley and always have a playing keeper

    Or

B foster who has some decent fixtures and is reliable for save points

Not the most exciting transfer but Begovic has to go.

I just wouldn't commit to a -4 before. Especially when you could have three players playing tonight who could get injured. It comes down to a toss up whether Eto'o will play Sunday. Plenty of options in that price range this year for a change.

Everton's last game -( Lille away) Eto'o started.
So I was very surprised to see him start against Burnley on the Sunday and put in a man of the match performance. ( 2 goals).
So if he plays tonight and has a good game I may keep him in. If he does not start I may keep him too.
Martinez likes to keep his form players in.

I am liking Sigurdssons fixtures though. Arsenals defence and city's for that matter has not been great and he is involved in most of the Swansea goals. As I'm getting Sakho next week and don't want to double up on WHM I think if I were to sell him it would be for Chadli.

What would you rather do with 1FT?

    A) Play Welbeck (swa), save FT.
    B) Welbeck>Sakho, play Sakho (VIL)

Looking at Sakho after this GW anyways, to finance a move for Costa/ADM/Sanchez, so might make sense a week early. However, his injury status is a factor, and I also have Downing already.

    FYI my team is
    Krul (Begovic)
    Baines Clyne Wisdom (Chambers Naylor)
    Sterling Fabregas Tadic Downing (Oscar)
    Aguero Welbeck Pelle

    1. SC not pearls before swine
      • 15 Years

I guess I'd lean toward sticking because a) Welbeck's stats are excellent (So are Sakho's to be fair) and b) you never know what other fires you'll have to put out next week so I'd rather have the extra free transfer because I don't think Sakho is a slamdunk favorite over Welbeck this week.

Ttransfers do roll over. So (C) save the transfer and get Sakho plus Costa/ADM/Sanchez next week. Pelle at home to Leicester and you already have downing. Sakho scores a goal a game, which is great, but Pelle can be explosive.

Ya nice team. I like the Sakho move I'm getting him next week. Berahino to Sakho this week seems sideways that's why I am waiting. I think because of his injury I would so the move next week with 2ft.

Thinking the same myself, though reluctant to lose pelle this gw.
For myself, downgrading siggy or baines are other options for doing Sterling to Sanchez.
None of them are very appealing but Sakho could be good as he has a decent fixture.
Pelle at home to leicester is hard to pass tho'.
