Our Watchlist rankings, which offer player recommendations over the next four-to-six Gameweeks, have been updated over the last 24 hours.

There’s little movement between the sticks, with Southampton’s Fraser Forster holding on at the top ahead of clashes with Leicester and Villa before the schedule toughens in Gameweek 12 (MCI, ars, MNU). West Ham’s Adrian is positioned just below the former Celtic stopper and, at 5.0, is an emerging prospect with some excellent home encounters to come (AVL, NEW, SWA, LEI).

Tim Krul is the week’s main climber, having only conceded once in his last three. The Newcastle keeper’s appeal is slightly dented by the number of strong budget options in the Magpies’ defence, though, with Paul Dummett and Steven Taylor the standout options at just 4.1 and 3.9 respectively.

Meanwhile, Swansea’s Lukas Fabianski and West Brom’s Ben Foster are ones to watch, with both facing four home matches in their next six.

In defence, Leighton Baines’ grip on the top spot remains unchallenged – the left back has averaged 9.6 points per appearance over his last three and faces a string of good home matches in the upcoming weeks (WHM, HUL, QPR, STO). Ryan Bertrand remains in third, though is under threat from the climbing Aaron Cresswell, whose attacking threat and plum fixture list have seen him emerge as a superb differential option in recent weeks. Calum Chambers is also still in our top five after his huge 18-point haul against Burnley, though Arsenal do have some tricky fixtures to come, including clashes with Man United and Southampton in their next four.

Further down, Man City’s Gael Clichy has been added as a new entry with his starts looking assured now that Aleksander Kolarov is set to be sidelined for at least a month. At 5.3, Clichy offers managers a cheaper alternative to Vincent Kompany in a backline that faces QPR, Sunderland and Leicester in their next six. Steven Taylor (3.9), QPR’s Yun Suk Young (3.9) and Spurs’ Kyle Naughton (4.3) are new entries in the budget bracket, with the latter looking set to cement the right-back role with Kyle Walker seemingly out of action for the foreseeable future.

As with the defence, there’s no movement at the summit of our midfield rankings – Alexis Sanchez remains the clear leader, having notched double figures in each of his last three appearances, whilst Dusan Tadic and Angel Di Maria also hold their places in the top three.

It’s all change below them, however, with the out-of-form duo of Raheem Sterling and Gylfi Siggurdsson dropping down the standings, despite Liverpool’s (CHE, cpl, STO, lei, SUN) and Swansea’s (ARS, mci, CPL, QPR, whm) decent schedules. Stewart Downing is the main beneficiary here, climbing up to fourth after his 13-point showing for the Hammers last time out.

Chelsea’s Oscar is the new name amongst the upper echelons of the rankings, replacing team-mate Cesc Fabregas thanks to his current form and more budget friendly price tag of 8.3. Owned by just 4.1% of managers in FPL, the Brazilian has tallied three goals and an assist in his last five, and looks a great asset amongst the Blues’ ranks right now, though the explosive Eden Hazard remains the preferred option. Another factor in Fabregas’ omission is that he sits just a single booking away from a one-match ban.

The quartet of Wilfried Zaha, Chris Brunt, Moussa Sissoko and Ross Barkley are the new entries – all offer managers potential differentials across the coming weeks.

Up top, it’s the same story once again, with no one managing to topple Sergio Aguero from his seat the zenith of our rankings. Diafra Sakho does, however, move into second, with his form and fixtures making a mockery of a current 5.8 price tag. The Senegal international takes the place of Graziano Pelle, whose tightrope status and stiffening schedule sees him drop to third.

Charlie Austin, Harry Kane and Steven Fletcher are a trio of new entries and budget differential options. Austin’s current form is bettered only by Aguero, whilst Fletcher has grabbed double figure hauls in two of his last four and comes up against Leicester’s shaky defence in Gameweek 12.

    Question about the "Watchlist"...

Always good but never understood, and that depends on the definition, why the likes of Walcott, Kane, Perez and the likes aren't part of the "Watchlist" So that would mean players returning from injury, likely second team replacments for existing flops and the like..even Andy Carroll in a possibly negative way for Sakho...

Would it not be a good idea to have the top picks as they are at the moment and a genuine "Watchlist" by definition ?

Or why Fabregas has vanished off the watchlist without a trace...

Aye..but we all know he's a good pick, same with Aguero and the like.

Yeah I get you but all the other obvious picks are on it.

Then to have two Chelsea mids but no Fabregas is a bit strange IMO.

They need to put a small definition above the watchlist imo. There's too much ambiguity.

        • 12 Years
        11 years, 5 months ago

I see it typically as a list of the top points/£ players over the medium term (5/6 GWs)... summit' like that.

      1. Dr Dream
        • 13 Years
        11 years, 5 months ago

To me it's a list of the best picks arranged in a good order to cover form/fixtures...So it's brill, but the real "watchlist" may well be the hidden picks that we crave.

          11 years, 5 months ago

A weekly 'under the radar' article maybe... Quite similar to spot the differential, but with a longer-term view?

That's a good way to put it, I'd also value that, so long as it's very careful about NOT feeding the paranoia that can sometimes fester on here (e.g. does Eriksen's starting tonight mean he's out of favor long term)

          2. Dr Dream
            • 13 Years
            11 years, 5 months ago

That's the one...exactly my point. At the moment it would contain about five Newcastle players, Harry Kane, Walcott...and even those that need watching in a negative way...Adebayor and the like...

              • 12 Years
              11 years, 5 months ago

True, sounds good. But agree with the Don above... would need a very strong disclaimer that you get them in early at your peril. 😉 (and all successes are given full credit, of course!)

I guess your very own Falling Stars is as close as we get at the moment, and that ain't doing too bad! 😀

I've always interpreted it as more of a form guide. The truer "Watchlist" as you describe it seems like it could get too speculative as it would need to rely on the dark art of interpreting press conferences, injury news, and "rested" players. But, I do like the idea of more concrete impacts on squad changes being highlighted. I think Rooney should be on the Forward watchlist, for instance

      1. Dr Dream
        • 13 Years

Yep..Rooney is a good case in point. Not because of who he is but because he is a returning player from suspension.

      Baines, Clyne, Wisdom,

      Costa, Aguero, Pelle.

Subs: Mannone, Boyd, Chambers, N. Taylor.

Also could do Sterling + Aguero ---> Sanchez + Rooney but i guess i should keep Kun.

Last week a few said they already had ADM Sanchez and Hazard/Fabregas -- I took a hit to get there this weekend but am wondering how many others now have three of their midfield spots filled with such heavy hitters at 30m+?

Would have to ship one of the big midfs to do so. I see plenty of value in the Sakho/Berahino/Cisse forwards if I get rid of Welbeck. Jovetic is one that I am eying though his playing time just doesn't seem consistent.

Looks good but I think it has to be 3 consistent goalscorers to work. Ok, the trinity of Gerrard, Lampard and Ronaldo was worth it - but they all had PKs in the locker. I think this year's trio is more of a risk.

The flavour of the week striker right now seems to be Sakho, but are there any others who deserve to be in the conversation?

I'm thinking of players like Bony, Lukaku, and Rooney. Any one else that is worth a look as the template shifts away from Aguero-Welbeck-Pelle in the next few weeks?

This table looks at goals per minute: http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/public-stats-tables/view/7159/

You want the players with a low amount of minutes played, and who will see an increase in gametime. Those players will look poor in stats because of their lower gametime, so are overlooked.

I don't see anyone who is particularly intriguing tbh, though Cisse at 5.9 looks awesome as a 3-4 week punt while Newcastles fixtures remain good. Anyone got a fitness update on him?

Yeah FFS is good at sniffing out players, most there are known to us. It's a list I like to keep an eye on though, it does change.

Cisse is fit to face West Brom. He was fit last week but Pardew took him off as a precaution. He had a "disagreement" with Cisse afterward as Cisse said he was completely fine. Pardew says he will be 'patched up' to play against the Baggies.

For those thinking of shipping out Siggy...

He has 3 home games in his next 4.
He has a home record this season of 6.4 ppg with 2 double digit pointers.
He has Arsenal next who were defensively bonk midweek
He also has Palace & QPR coming up - QPR have played 5, lost 5 away and have the worst away defence and Palace have the 3rd worst away defence, only bettered by Sunderland.

I'm giving him 4 more games and then reassessing.

I realise that he has home gales but his form has been patchy
Arsenal will surely be more defensive this week after extra work on the training ground? The players and wenger must be raging.

I will get a bony/sigurdsson by the time the fixtures turn easier again. Hopefully at a cheaper price!

I sold him for Downing..would swap back if necessary , but who knows , just like the case of Sanchez , do not want to miss out his cheapest price if he is continuing his form..if they are doing similarly well after Swansea's two tough games then that means it's not a bad move after all..
