Yannick Bolasie bullies a beleaguered Liverpool into submission at Selhurst Park while on Humberside, Christian Eriksen inspires a Spurs comeback against 10-man Hull as Harry Kane gets on the scoresheet. Here’s the notes from Sunday’s pair of Premier League fixtures…

Eagles Attack Shows Potency

Crystal Palace seem incapable of keeping clean sheets under Neil Warnock, but they are compensating for this at the opposite end of the pitch: the Eagles have fired 17 goals this season, only two less than Man United, for example. Yannick Bolasie delivered the standout performance in the 3-1 victory over Liverpool, earning a pair of assists to take him to four for the season. Indeed, while Wilfried Zaha and Jason Puncheon continue to battle it out for pitch time on the right wing, Bolasie has now surpassed his returns from last season in just 12 Gameweeks. Priced at 5.4 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Bolasie, along with his skipper, Mile Jedinak, is offer viable mid-price midfield options. Jedinak notched his fourth goal of the season with a sweetly struck free-kick and, with spot-kick duties in his armoury and an FPL price of 5.1, also looks a handy proposition. At 5.1 up front, Dwight Gayle’s situation could also be worth monitoring – he struck the opener on his return to the starting XI ahead of Frazier Campbell, who was relegated to the bench. Warnock’s side face Aston Villa, Spurs and Stoke in their next four, handing that trio a further platform to impress.

Three Defeats in Three For Lifeless Liverpool

Liverpool’s dire form continued with yesterday’s loss, begging the question of whether Brendan Rodger’s team can harbour any hopes challenging at the summit without Daniel Sturridge. Rickie Lambert did at least seize his chance by netting his side’s only goal and could now keep his starting spot ahead of Mario Balotelli once the Italian (who has reached 35 attempts without a goal) returns from a groin injury. Stoke, Leicester and Sunderland are up next for the Reds and do still offer some potential, though managers are unlikely to invest in a side with two goals in their last four. Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling’s remaining owners (37%) are likely to view his performance yesterday as the final straw and we can expect significant sales leading into Gameweek 13.

Ramirez’s Red Tames Tigers

Steve Bruce opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation in Hull’s 2-1 defeat to Spurs yesterday, recalling the fit-again Michael Dawson alongside skipper Curtis Davies. Andrew Robertson also came in at left-back, pushing Robbie Brady into a flank role on the left. Mo Diame sat out with a knee problem, with Bruce confirming that the midfielder will undergo scans later this week. In his absence, the Hull boss handed a first start to Gaston Ramirez on the right flank but saw him suffer an early bath which, ultimately, cost Hull their foothold in the match. Pending an appeal, Ramirez will now miss the next three league encounters which will force the Tigers into a reshuffle. That could offer Abel Hernandez a reprieve after the striker was dropped for the Spurs clash.

Kane Stakes His Claim

Harry Kane continued his excellent form in the Spurs attack by notching the first goal of their comeback win on Humberside. The youngster has 11 goals in 16 appearances this season and with three home fixtures in his next five (EVE, CPL, BUR), the 4.8-valued striker looks a superb “enabler” to generate funds in our midfields. Emmanuel Adebayor missed yesterday’s encounter with a back problem but would seemingly face an uphill task to regain a starting role for the Gameweek 13 visit of Everton. Having said that, with Gameweek 14 occurring in midweek, the likelihood of rotation in the Spurs front line is something to consider.

Eriksen Steps Up

With leading scorer Nacer Chadli missing out due to a knee injury, Cristian Eriksen played a starring role for Mauricio Pochettino’s side yesterday by grabbing a goal and an assist, propelling himself into the top ten highest scoring midfielders in FPL. The Dane had been subbed off at the break in his last two outings, but looks key to his side’s chances if Chadli is ruled out for any length of time. Eriksen’s attacking threat is highlighted by the fact that only Yaya Toure has fired in more efforts from midfield this season than the former Ajax man. Now down to 7.8, and with an ownership of just 7.6%, Eriksen provides an option over Spurs’ aforementioned fixtures and a potentially effective differential.

Who is your teams troll this season? Mine is Eriksen. Had him twice & got rid twice due to a string of low scoring game weeks only for him to bite me in the arse when he's been potted.

He sat out training as did Jovetic....don't think that there's anything wrong he may just be recovering for the weekend game. Pressed at 12:45, we should know more then. I don't think it's anything serious....he's played a lot recently may just be resting

It will be a precaution, they will want to avoid overworking him with too much training IMO.

Anyway, if he does suffer any injury it's an easy out to Rooney at least.

However given you are on the Sunday game anyway.........................................

OK I have it, the cunningiest cunning in the history of cunning.

Assuming you have this free swap for this week and a chancy captain for tonight does you no favours next week.
Hang on got to sign into my Sky team........... Whistle amongst yourself for a minute.

      OK.
Use your swap for a Saturday player who also plays on the Tuesday, then use your swap for a Wednesday captain (lots of good ones available) who also plays the following Saturday (GW 17 in SKY)

          So no double ups.

In that case, I would probably play Krul personally - West Ham could still be a touch depleted, Newcastle on good form and look resilient so should have better chances for a clean sheet than WBA.

The trouble with that Gold tweet mentioned on the home page is that the detail in it (which isn't mentioned in the article) suggests Sakho and Downing are much worse than 'having a chance v Newcastle'. So the headline massively distorts the truth I'm afraid.

This is from a related Twitter account: "David Gold has tweeted that they all have a chance to return but I would be very surprised if all five did! Kouyate should do as he was very close for Everton. I would imagine that Sakho has a good chance as his injury was back pains related to travelling around and the physical demands of the Premier League. Song’s injury is one that he has had many times before and one that has to be managed. I would expect these three to be back but the Newcastle game may come too soon for Downing and Valencia. I think we have a recall option on Poyet’s loan which is only for a month anyway. Had the club felt that Song and Kouyate would be out for longer I think he would have been recalled."

Not much better value than Vargas as a BPL forward though.

Would be typical if Aguero got injured so everybody would get Rooney, the week that I was gonna get Rooney as a differential.

I've had Rooney for a few weeks. Would be annoying.

Well its finally come down to choosing between keeping Bertrand or Clyne. Who should i keep?

I think Clyne is less likely to be rotated at Xmas as he faces no competition whereas Bertrand has Targett

    Which is better?
    Let's see some more opinions.

    A) Baines & Austin
    B) Austin & Sanchez
    C) Azpilicueta & save the other FT

    A) Downing -> Sanchez (Insufficient funds for Bertrand -> Azpil next week)

    B) Downing -> ADM (Sufficient funds for Bert -> Azpil next week)

    Leaning towards B, thoughts?

They really were..even if Chadlii and Baines were fit it wouldn't have been a good idea imo.

Pelle blank, Tadic goal with Clyne assist and CS - perfect. 🙂

Could easily happen but game will probably end something like 1-1 Wanayma scoring for Soton.

Yeah, keeping tabs on Kun fitness.

Can anybody see Villa getting something tonight?. All the talk about Saints and how many points we think our fpl players will get, but could there be a shock? Southampton @ 1.8 away from home is a ludicrous price.

I think we'll win, but it will be hard fought. The injuries for villa don't help......

I don't see why Villa can't get at least a point. They work hard, they've stopped a lot of teams from scoring already this season, and without Benteke they could shut up shop and play for a draw.

Yep, only team Saints have blown away has been Sunderland. Just a gut feeling, with it being a live Monday night game e.t.c. Surely runs have to end soon, premier league has shocks every week.

So bookies think Soton has 55% chance for win. Whats the ods for Villa win and draw (1X)?

      1. Demí

        Around 11/10 or 2.1

With those odds I would rather play 1X.

Perhaps but it would be a serious shock imo. I actually think 1.8 is quite generous, maybe lump on! 😉
