As we brace ourselves for the beginning of a packed festive schedule, we’re rolling out a final heads-up on the tenth Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power. Free-to-enter, the qualifying round is set to take place in Gameweek 13, so if you fancy your chances of joining previous winners donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 and reigning champion Gribude in our hall of fame, read on for more details:

Seasoned veterans can click here to submit their entry. For full details of when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Fantasy manager ranked highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round will take place in Gameweek 13 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Tuesday December 2 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1015 (plus nine previous winners who will earn a bye if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 13 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 15. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be asked to verify your FPL team ID – note that, if you fail to confirm your ID, you will not be entered. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday December 2.

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 13
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 18
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 19
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 20
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 23
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 24

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

Do I have to enter if I’m a previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from the tournament.

Almost December so the hour of the muppet is nearly upon us...

    Out

    RvP > Arsenal 40m
Mata > Juve, makeweight for Vidal
    Cleverley > Villa 5m
Evans and Young > Spurs, makeweight for Vertonghen
Anderson > somewhere in Brazil for a packet of crisps

    In

    Memphis Depay 30m
    Vidal, 15m plus Mata
Vertonghen, 1 pound plus Evans and Young

    Net spend = 1 pound

Most probably on something, not really fired for a season and a half, not even worth half of 40mil.

All about the buzz at the Arsenal.

    3. Frank Black
      11 years, 11 months ago

Depay's price is actually around 20m euros and Vidal is not worth that much.

      1. Not Irish
        11 years, 11 months ago

Depay just renewed if I'm not mistaken. Would be shocked to see him go for that little. He's a bit special.

And if Vidal isn't worth that what do you think Mata's worth?

What do you think of my team this week? Do you like my 2 free transfers, Pelle and Chadli -> Bony and Chamberlain?

    Guzan
    Azpilicueta, Chambers, Yun
    Hazard, Sanchez, ADM, Chamberlain
    Bony(c), Aguero, Sakho

    Subs: Jakupovic, Boyd, Dummett, Reid

Ox, I'd love to own him

superb use of 2 FTs IMO

    3. Baz
      11 years, 11 months ago

yes but would prefer siggy to ox (gametime)

      1. Mull
        11 years, 11 months ago

Chamberlain will be fine for the 3-4 GWs that I want him. Then I can make a better informed decision on a mid priced midfielder in a few weeks. Fwiw I think Sigurdsson is very overrated on here.

        1. Baz
          11 years, 11 months ago

okay then mate good luck! read yesterday that siggy has had attacking returns in every home game bar one where bony was sent off, so at his price he is a quality player to own imo

    4. Debauchy
      11 years, 11 months ago

love the Ox . Never really produced FPL wise though. Hope he does for you. Will enjoy even if reluctant to chance on him myself

Just a nice short term punt. He's due a big score sometime so hopefully it's when I own him.

My logic for Hazard (c) is that Chelsea will be bang up for the game as they know Man City and Southampton will be taking points off each other. Also I don't have Costa!

Just how flawed is this logic?

    1. Lallana_
      11 years, 11 months ago

Very flawed. Hazard away from home is not as solid. He does take pens at least!

    2. Gamst - Up (?) the Rovers
      11 years, 11 months ago

I don't think Chelsea approach their games in November with this mind set.

      So, very flawed.

  9. dudload

anyone got a view on the below? in a huge quandry 🙂

    Krul (foster)
    Bertrand, Wilson, Vlaar, Coleman, Dummet
    Cesc, Siggy, Tadic, Sanchez, Boyd
    Aguero, Costa, Sakho

    0 ITB

Whadya all reckon of Vlaar > Hutton (attacking returns potential with ok fixtures) and Sakho > Austin for free?

  10. A Defender's Nightmare
    11 years, 11 months ago

My question might have got lost in between my rant on the last page. Is Stoke presser done for this GW? Will we hear any more news on Begovic? I've a feeling he'll drop tonight so ready to make the move.

    1. Mull
      11 years, 11 months ago

Get rid of him. I wouldn't even mind taking a hit to do so.

    2. Lallana_
      11 years, 11 months ago

I'd get rid of him ASAP. Guzan is good until the January WC.

      1. A Defender's Nightmare

        What about Fabianski?

        1. Mull
          11 years, 11 months ago

Fab over Guzan if you afford the 0.5m extra especially with Villa's defensive injuries.

        2. Lallana_
          11 years, 11 months ago

Yeah he works too! I just like to save that extra 0.5M.

    3. Gamst - Up (?) the Rovers
      11 years, 11 months ago

Don't wait, you don't need news on him. Bego/Stoke are not who they used to be.

  11. Chris_White
    11 years, 11 months ago

    If Baines is out...

    A) Moore & Pelle > Yun & Bony

    B) Baines & Pelle > Yun & Costa

    C) Baines & Pelle > Rangel & Rooney

    1. Davido989
      11 years, 11 months ago

Can you afford Pelle and Tadic to Costa/Rooney and bench fodder?

      1. rickardinho
        11 years, 11 months ago

I can afford Pelle>Costa and also Tadic>Chadli (exact money).

Slightly leaning towards Tadic>Hazard and Pelle>Ings, leaving 2.0itb for a GW14 upgrade in defense or midfield though.

        1. Ludo
          11 years, 11 months ago

Hmm, could work out, but leaves you needing heavy surgery if your budget forwards' goals dry up.

          1. rickardinho
            11 years, 11 months ago

Sure, but I'm willing to stick it out with Austin for his next 4 home games, and Ings would be the only one I'd need to trade. I'm not particularly enamored with getting Chadli either as he could get rotated with Kane, and his immediate fixtures aren't great either. (EVE che)

Hey lads! Need a lil help.

    Forster (Hamer)
    Baines Naylor Duff (Bertrand, Wisdom)
    Fabregas Siggy Sanchez Downing (Brady)
    Costa Aguero Austin

    2 FT & 2.4 ITB

So what should my move(s) be for this GW in your opinion?

    A. Forster > Fabianski & save 1FT

Got to love FPL from rank 9,354 to 2,324,093 gameweek wise and overall 30K to 40K.
International break is great, isn't it?

Any recommendation of a goalkeeper for 5.0m and under? Begovic has to go... even for a hit.

      Why, precisely?

        11 years, 11 months ago

        Form and fixtures, maybe?

His form is OK, as is Stoke's.

C'mon! What form? Throughout his 9 'easy fixtures' he's only kept ONE clean sheet.

      Fabianski or Adrian

      1. Grounderz
        11 years, 11 months ago

        Fabianski at 5.1m. Can't afford.

          Guzan then.

Looks like it. They're over with the top teams. Was crazy looking at their past fixtures and had four big teams in a row. Just crazy.

        Fabianski is 5.1

    3. Chris_White

      Adrián.

Same situation here, J. Look above. Fabianski seems to be our best bet but he's not cheap.

Yeah, but I'm 0.1m short of making a move for him. He's top priority... unless I downgrade my fourth midfielder even further other than Brady.

Did anyone here watch Arsenal - Dortmund game?

How did Sanchez play in overall? Captain material for the weekend?

    A Ulloa+begovic to Austin+guzan for free
    B Ulloa+Begovic+Clyne to Austin+Fabianski+Trippier for -4

West Brom did well to keep Chelsea to just 2-0, can Sunderland do the same?

    1. Chris_White
      11 years, 11 months ago

I reckon so. Think it will be pretty low-scoring.

Chelsea don't bother playing after going 2-0 up.

See Sunderland keeping if pretty tight - 1-2 type of game

If FPL allowed you to pick between 11-15 players, how many would you go for?

I'd probably hover around the 12-13 mark.

Too interesting a question to be bottomed! 🙂 RP..

The game is the game. Let us just get on with it. Do not confuse style with substance.
