Today, we bring you the draw for the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the qualifying rounds for the competition took place over Gameweek 13 at the weekend.

First of all, entrants with a score of 44 points or more have earned a spot in the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X. If you scored 44 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed. As usual, then, the standard was very high – just ask Mark – he’s been knocked out in qualifying with 41 points.

While Mark fell at the first hurdle, Granville’s lineup progressed and he’ll face juramentardo in the opening round, which takes place this weekend. Mark does, however, live on through his combination ScoutCast team with Granville – that lineup made it through with an impressive 62 points and will face off against Clueless XI in this round – a suitable opponent.

Our reigning champion, Gribude is, of course, one of the former winners who earns a bye to the first round and he’ll face deporhostia in the opening round as he bids to become our first to successfully defend their crown. Others taking on former cup champions include confundido who takes on some chap called Jonty, while AmberGamer who faces ex-champ donnellyC.

There are no less than 14 top 100 managers in draw, including the current FPL world number one rayvas – definitely a name to avoid should he make it past pkilleen in this first round.

Other eye-catching encounters are Laurel Hill‘s tough tie against Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors league leader Tinkerman, who is currently 270th overall, our moderator Greenwindmill’s battle against Canary Wharf, and Cobblersnz’s match up with our team news man Demi.

There are also some notable match ups between well known community members with Sporting facing Davysteen and  4Vets against 1966 was a great year…

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action but for those that missed out this time, there is some good news as we  aim to run another Cup competition from March next year.

In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

Anyone else there who kept BOYD as a sub ?
I did, and also kept Naylor as sub and instead played Wisdom!

Ha! Wrong conclusion. He is not in my team. Hopefully (woefully) optimistic Saints fan here. Alexi being rested would also help me maintain a top 10k position in FPL too as Im the only person left in the world without him in my team....!

I also don't have Sanchez mate.

Because 11m on any player (other than Aguero), be it a striker or be it some midfielder is simply not justified to me.

I would rather invest 14m on two players, say (Chadli+Mirallas) or (Oscar+Downing). Preferably from two different teams.

On the long-haul two players who gets regular game time will always yield more returns than a 'Lone warrior'! However good the later is.

    Fabianski (Gilks)
    Baines Dummett Wisdom (Duff Saylor)
    Hazard Sanchez Siggy Mane (Marney)
    Aguero Bony Berahino

Assuming Aguero stays fit, which two strikers are best to have till January wc?
I'm currently holding Costa and Austin, but the likes of Bony, Benteke, Kane etc are making me think twice about Costa's value.
Then there's Ings, Giroud, Lukaku to consider too.

I own Costa and Austin but I would say Costa and Bony are a better duo. I chose to go with Austin, however, as I own Sigurdsson and it frees up around 2.3M for me to use elsewhere.

The best AVL prospect to me is Cissokho at the moment.
Nice squad player at 4.5m and the fixtures to come looks nice defensively!

Investing on AVL's attack does not make any sense.

I feel people are placing too much emphasis before his injury. Since then he has been injured, blanked twice and been suspended. The injury doubts probs still loom(so a rotation risk), he remains a card magnet, he hasn't had a big score for a long time, and he seems to repel bps.
However, he can be tempting and have nearly been drawn back in.

For me he's going to be the second highest scorer this season. I don't need the extra cash elsewhere so I'm hoping he stays injury free and starts picking up the BAPs. A brace wouldn't hurt for once.

I have Aguero, Bony and Berhino too. Considering going:

        Aguero / Bony / Tekkers
        Aguero ? Bony / Kane

Kane, depends on how he gets on tonight.

But I'm tanking this season so don't take any of this as a help.

I've been saying Costa is essential since the start of the season but took him out last night for Austin as a 1 week punt to bring straight back in but now I'm not finding it so easy to do that and instead toying with the idea of using those funds to upgrade Chadli to Haz and Bertrand to Azpi!

    Am I being silly?

It was definitely last minute as I had my heart set on bringing in Rooney but obviously waited for the team news before making the transfer. Once Rooney was confirmed out I just wanted someone and he seemed the most appealing given he has scored away from home against the tighter defences of the league.

This week for Rooney (who I then had to ditch for Bony for a hit, so don't listen to anything I say). Went without him when he was out for a few weeks, think I might just go Aguero, Bony and Benteke.

I wanted to do the same but waited for news on Rooney.

The thought of Haz explosive returns and Azpi CS seems to outweigh Costa 6/7 pointers but its his high ownership that is very worrying.

maybe change Mannone to a better goalie (Guzan, Pantilimon etc)? Burnley's upcoming fixtures don't look easy. Otherwise your team looks alright (Clyne could be also transferred out because of Southampton's tough fixtures).

      Indeed,
      - JT for sure, will hopefully have the lowest ownership in the Chelsea back four as decent differential. Europe goal-scoring record is bound to translate sooner or later.

      - Giroud yes, (other elements aside) 2 goals in 165 minutes is nothing to bark at. Plus, could be an immediate Bony replacement if he starts to wander off the trail. Great value in the Gunners attack.

      - Kane, he's a workhorse, creative & has forced himself on the Poch's XI. Has assists, goals & set-pieces to his name. Great value on newly in-form Spurs eager to break into the top 5.

Eriksen - Great goal scorer & a few weeks ago, created the most chances in the league (18) with no finish. Now with Kane's promise, this duo shows'a a lot of potential & goal scoring prowess

Yaya - Yes, but would have to break team wide open to afford. Silva, is looking like quite the FPL prospect now with Yaya & co scoring at will. He'll have a say on each significant City attack. With those fixtures & City showing better quality, he's a great option for the double-up

This was probably a late post in retrospect

Not sure about Eriksen untill he performs with Chadli back (if Chadli comes back in the starting 11), can't be coincidence that Eriksens form picks up exactly when Chadli gets injured
