Diving happens in every position and every player does it. Defenders will hit the deck every time a striker comes into the back of them. It's a nailed on free kick everytime, so it's safer to do that than to stay up and risk the free kick not being awarded and losing possession. It's more or less just part of the game. The only thing they could possibly do is retrospectively punish every single obvious dive. But I cannot see that ever happenign. I've just accepted it as part of the game and it doesn't bother me tbh.
