Gameweek 17 rolls on via a stormy Tyne-Wear derby clash and the meeting of two top four hopefuls at Anfield.

Events begin at St James Park where Newcastle will attempt to halt rather catastrophic blip in their revival: they’ve lost their last two outings, shipping eight goals in the process. Local rivals Sunderland are unlikely to provide sympathetic opponents; the Black Cats have lost just once in their last seven league matches.

Alan Pardew’s men welcome back Sammy Ameobi and Cheick Tiote following recent knocks, while both Daryl Janmaat and Steven Taylor also return to bolster the back four, although with 17-year-old Jak Alnwick continuing in goal, the fragility in defence could well remain.

Gus Poyet’s men will look to exploit such a weakness as the Uruguayan makes just one change to his Sunderland starting XI, recalling striker Steven Fletcher with the much-maligned Jozy Altidore dropping to the bench. The visitors have been forced into a late change, however, with Anthony Réveillère sustaining an injury in the warm-up; Liverpool loanee Sebastián Coates is drafted into the back four.

The day’s action continues shortly after the whistle in the north east, as we drop in at Anfield to check on the progress of both Liverpool and Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez and a cast of mid-price differentials are on show, as the likes of Raheem Sterling and Olivier Giroud audition in a bid to boost their pre-Christmas Fantasy stock.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Clichy hardly nailed tho is he? Dimechelis or Mangala are your safer bets.

        For me:

Zab: Most nailed currently and decent attacking returns. May rotate with Sagna once over Xmas period.
Kompany: Most nailed when fit, which could be soon.
Demi: Should play while Kompany's out.
Mangala: Will usually partner Kompany but 4YCs.
Kolarov: 50-50 rotates but can get big hauls.
Clichy: 50-50, less attacking returns but decent BPS.

I'd say Zab or Demi for Chambers, but Hart is the only 100% nailed.

So how much of Sanchez's ineffective form is everyone going to put up with before they sell him? I was always skeptical of getting him and his downturn in form pretty much coincided with his downturn in form and my trigger finger is getting itchy.

My getting him coincided with a downturn in form I mean

Sanchez owners, how long you holding for?

Stats have dropped...looking at AdM or Ramsey

Ramsey is injured. And once he's back he'll probably get injured again. AdM seems like the logical choice but I'd wait til he gets back into his groove first. Yaya / Silva your better option right now, dude.

D has excellent stats if you look and make decisions on stats

      A has decent stats

Both decent options - the 1 mil saved with Boyd could be useful

As above. Are Ki and Jedi at the Asian Cup too?

        Consider Fer (4YCs though)/Routledge?
