Four more players toppled off the Suspension Tightrope this week, with a couple of culpable parties earning their fifth yellow card during Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby. Cheick Tiote is unavailable for Newcastle’s upcoming trip to Old Trafford, whilst the Black Cats’ Connor Wickham sits out a plum home encounter with Hull.

The Tigers’ midfielder Jake Livermore will also miss that Stadium of Light encounter and Southampton will travel to Palace on Boxing Day without the services of skipper Jose Fonte, as Ronald Koeman prepares for yet another defensive re-shuffle.

In terms of the Tightrope, another three players made their way onto four yellows for the season – Santi Cazorla, John O’Shea and Erik Pieters are the latest new entries, taking the total to 32 players. Pieters’ inclusion means Stoke now have four players just a single card away from a ban, more than any other side.

O’Shea’s team-mate Lee Cattermole is now up to eight yellows in just 16 league appearances after being booked in the North East derby. The midfield enforcer had picked up a total of two reds and nine yellows across the previous couple of campaigns due to a lack of pitch time but is clearly keen to atone for lost time. If Cattermole is cautioned in both of the next two, he’ll face the ignominy of toppling from the Tightrope twice before the New Year is upon us.

Elsewhere, another two players fell foul of the referee’s wrath in Gameweek 17. Liverpool’s Fabio Borini made an impression for all the wrong reasons against Arsenal at Anfield. Replacing Lazar Markovic midway through the second period, the Italian collected a pair of yellows in just 16 minutes and will be unavailable for Friday’s trip to Burnley.

Villa’s Gabby Agbonlahor was due to serve a three-match ban after being sent off for serious foul play during last Saturday’s home draw with United. Earlier this afternoon, the FA overturned that suspension and the forward is available for selection with immediate effect.

Remaining on the sidelines are Hull midfielder Tom Huddlestone (sitting out the second of a four-match suspension) and Villa’s Kieran Richardson, who is serving the second of a three-match ban this Friday.

Paul Lambert welcomes back Alan Hutton and Tom Cleverley, though, as the midlands outfit look to push on from the draw with United. Southampton trio Morgan Schneiderlin, Victor Wanyama and Florin Gardos are also available for selection as Ronald Koeman’s side head to Selhurst Park.

Mario Balotelli is back for Liverpool’s visit to Burnley after serving a one-match ban for his recent social media posts. The FA have revealed that they decided against dishing out a longer sentence due to the striker’s sincere and honest explanation.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    2FT's this week, 0.2m ITB.

Thinking of Krul to Guzan and saving the other. Thoughts on this and any other options?

    Foster Krul
    Baines Terry Dummett O'Shea Moore
    Hazard Sanchez Silva Sigurdsson Downing
    Costa Bony Austin

    Thanks in advance!

Foster's fixtures are decent enough to play every week until the wildcard. I'd do Costa and Moore out for two players who are better.

      Start being unpredictable.
      Get weekly bandwagons.
      Take hits.
Buy players one week then sell them the next.
      But do wisely.
Ive got 6 green arrows in a row doing this.
      Dont hang onto dead wood.
      Admit mistakes and sell quick.
And dont be afraid to gamble against big names.
Like after boxing day, sell hazard if you have him.
3 aways and city plus 3 cup games in 5 weeks.
Otherd will hold. I will sell.

for Giroud, but it was more about making funds available to fix my team..

          did Yun + Moore + RVP > Terry + Demichelis + Giroud (-4)

sad to see him go (in all likelihood may have him and Aguero up top in a 352 with Jan WC) but it was for the good of the entire team

the alternative was selling Baines to generate funds but a nagging part of me thought that Baines was nailed throughout Dec whereas RVP COULD potentially be fully rested vs Newcastle if LVG just runs out Falcao and Di Maria and saves him for Spurs (a) on the 28th..

but with 60 minutes vs Villa, it points towards 60 minutes vs Newcaslte too I think..

either way, will probably bring him back in Jan unless Falcao goes on a spree

Yea i'm the same with Baines, want to get rid but know he'll get back to his best soon.

I agree with you on RvPs minutes, optimistic on a start boxing day but not the full 90mins.

I've got a bad feeling that BOTH Hazard and Sanchez will be rested.

But considering that Chelsea have a much tougher fixture than Arsenal and Hazard is in top form whilst Sanchez has dipped recently, I think between the two that Hazard is the best captaincy choice.

So who would be in the modern day power 5?

    for me it would be

Fab, ADM, Sanchez, Sterling, Silva (when Yaha's off)

    what would yours be?

I'd rather have Haz and Downing over Sterling and Silva on current form

Fab is a ticking clock that just keeps giving though. Haz is a pain to own.
        Good call Downing.

        Fab over Haz for me.
        Haz not regular enough.

If it's a power 5 then have both over Sterling or Silva.

You need to have some budget picks in there, or it ruins the rest of the team. Sanchez, Hazard, Fabregas, someone mid priced like Eriksen or Sterling, and either Sigurdsson or Downing would be nice.

budget picks are in the forwards though dude.... its the principle of the power 5
most can make that midfield with current tv, I can. and still have Zab and Asp in defense too (not intended as a boast) Kane and Austin and another mid priced is all you need up front.

Where do you feel could be improved in this team? I have 1 free transfer and 1.2m in the bank. Bertrand to Zabaleta perhaps?

    Fabianski, Pantilimon
    Baines, Bertrand, Chambers, Hutton, Wisdom
    Hazard, Sterling, Sanchez, Downing, Marney
    Costa, Bony, Austin

    Thoughts appreciated as always. ♤♡♢♧

Save it then do Costa and Marney out for free.

This should be my last post until Boxing Day morning, all the best FFS for christmas. May Santa bring you goals, assists, clean sheets and as little rotation as possible!

If Everton weren't at home I'd say yes, but Stoke at home just screams haul.

    Afternoon all,

How does Sig (AVL, liv, qpr) -> Silva (wba, BUR, SUN)
    &
Costa (WHU, sou, tot) -> Benteke (swa, SUN, CRY) sound with my FTs this week, worth it or wait until next GW? Have Bony, Hazard, Nasri, Hart as Swans, Chels and City cover if that helps

I have literally no idea what to do with my team this week, there's too much I want to fix...any ideas?

    Hart Pantilimon
    Baines Azpi Dummett Hutton Wisdom
    Hazard Sanchez Downing Siggy Boyd
    Costa Austin Bony
    1FT 0.0 ITB

I'm thinking about getting rid of Costa, but i have 0 ITB soo I might have to get rid of Baines, I'm not sure.
