Adam Lallana scores twice as Liverpool ease past Swansea at Anfield. Alberto Moreno, Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho all serve up the points, whilst Gylfi Sigurdsson prods home the visitors’ consolation.

Lallana at the Double

The summer signing threw his hat in the ring as a viable differential for our five-man midfields by bagging a brace in last night’s comprehensive 4-1 win. Fielded on the right of a front three once again, Lallana has started each of the last six Gameweeks and, with three strikes and an assist over that period, he is becoming increasingly influential in Brendan Rodgers’ 3-4-3 formation. Certainly, at a cost of 8.3, he’s far from budget friendly but the Reds upcoming fixtures (LEI, sun, avl, WHM) looks set to bring their main men onto our radars as they belatedly hit their stride.

Henderson in the Points as Rodgers Rings the Changes

Rodgers’ decision to make four alterations saw Steven Gerrard drop to the bench as the versatile Henderson moved into central midfield, allowing Javier Manquillo the right wing-back berth. Handed a share of set-pieces in his captain’s absence, Henderson laid on two of his side’s goals – taking his tally to three assists in the last trio of matches.

At 6.0, the former Sunderland man is a lot easier on the budget than the likes of Lallana, Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho ahead of the kind run of matches and looks nailed on, regardless of formation. Coutinho also ticked over by picking up an assist last night, whilst Sterling, in spite of an impressive shift through the centre, delivered a frustrating blank after hitting the woodwork twice.

Rodgers’ tinkering also saw Alberto Moreno get amongst the goals. Fielded as a left wing-back, the Spaniard’s opener served notice of his possible out-of-position potential, though it remains to be seen whether he can nail down a regular role – he’d started just two of the seven league outings prior to last night. Elsewhere at the back for Rodgers’ side, Martin Skrtel earned a fifth caution of the campaign, meaning he’ll miss Thursday’s clash with the Foxes.

Siggy Remedies Travel Sickness

Whilst Wilfried Bony served up a blank before being subbed off on the hour mark, the Swansea midfielder notched for the second successive Gameweek. Sold by over 200,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers in the last 10 days, Sigurdsson’s failure to produce attacking returns in each of his previous six road trips saw him take a place on many a Fantasy manager’s bench last night – many were left ruing that decision after a close-range effort spoiled the Reds’ clean sheet and took him up to fourth in the FPL midfield standings.

With Bony set to leave imminently for the Africa Cup of Nations, there were concerns over the Icelandic international’s points potential, but judging by the last two matches, it seems he’s found his scoring touch just in time to cushion the blow of the Ivorian’s departure.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Who will be the biggest winners and losers due to the departing AFCON and Asia cup players?

For example will ManC be a loser overall without Yaya? Or will it be a chance for Frank Lampard to shine?

How will Swansea cope without Bony? Will Sigurdsson be a winner or a loser without his striker partner?

I think Swansea may struggle so I will have to monitor Siggy. I don't want to get rid of him, though, since I've had him from GW1.

I think City will be fine. Lamps is an interesting prospect and will likely benefit but I very much doubt he'll get regular minutes.

Swansea, Newcastle, West Ham and City will all be badly affected. City has some tough games coming up, and as they are already missing Aguero I think losing Yaya as well will be a massive blow.

Would definitely do Bony --> Kane now if you are thinking about it. You could hold on to the Boyd--> Fab move as Fab usually gives you 6 to 7 points a game. Boyd will definitely give you 2 so might not be a great trade off, but then then if Boyd assists or scores (which is likely, given his form) it will be a bonus for you.

Martinez talking about change of formation...

Scout Tweet - Martinez: "I think changing the formation can help us. We have always been a team that is flexible in the way we play."

        Maybe not!

yeah just saw that, maybe I shoudl shutup but I think it could be Martinez trying to justify his decision but it didn't work did it. I only saw bits of the game but even Fantasy wise I'd rather him at left back overlapping whipping crosses in

I think he is trying to bring in Luke Garbutt @ LB, so needs to find another position for Baines.

Martinez took him to watch Bayern earlier this year to watch Lahm.

      http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/everton/10745987/Leighton-Baines-can-be-the-new-Philipp-Lahm-say-Roberto-Martinez.html

      However
      a) I don't think he's as good as Lahm
      B) if he plays that role I think his attacking returns will be less than at left back

my bother is a sports writer here in israel (NBA, football, oethers). he has a twitter following and he opened an FPL league for those who want. about 30 poeple from his followers took the challenge. problem is, he never did that before and is not in this forum etc. - so he asked me to manage a team for him.
i spend maybe 20 minutes each week running his team (as opposed to the hours i spend on my own team) - usually making transfers right after the gw is over not waiting - and also careless about hits.

now his team is 136th in the world. how the F did happen?? (my own team is doing very well, about 1500 OR but i spend on it so much more time and effort).

anyway, its not a question, just a fun story how gut feeling and quick decisions sometimes trump hard work...

I can imagine alot of dead teams are higher than actual teams. That's the frustration with FPL.

Yeah I think we just enjoy analysing and taking time over decisions. I'm not convinced it helps out much in terms of rank. I think anyone who knows what they are doing and follows football can do just as well spending 20mins a week on their team.

    What 2 to bench?

    Terry(tott)
    Sanchez(sou)
    Eriksen(CHE)
    Kane(CHE)
    Costa(tott)

Def Kane, I can't decide between Terry and Eriksen at the min. I think Spurs have a chance of scoring, maybe free kick or something (which would come from Eriksen).

rodgers has stated that sterling will be given a rest in january so maybe you should be looking at someone like coutinho or lallana or even henderson
