The New Year heralded in a number of injury concerns earlier today, with treatment rooms around the country opening their doors to accommodate a host of new arrivals.

Arsenal
Mathieu Flamini missed today’s 2-0 loss at Southampton through injury, whilst Arsene Wenger has
confirmed Lukas Podolski was unavailable after sustaining a groin problem.

Aston Villa
Skipper Ron Vlaar was forced off during the first-half of today’s goalless draw against Palace with a knee injury. Post-match, Paul Lambert confirmed the Dutchman is set to be assessed prior to the weekend:

“I am not 100% sure but he’s thinking it could be the same sort of thing that he hurt in the World Cup. It’s his knee. We will probably know more tomorrow. He will go for a scan. Hopefully it’s not too bad. He thinks it might be similar to the one he had in Brazil. We will have to wait and see.â€

Burnley
Sean Dyche is counting the cost of today’s comeback draw at Newcastle, after Jason Shackell (calf), Dean Marney (illness) and Kevin Long ((ankle) were forced off. The Burnley boss is sweating over the latter’s availability, with the debutant stretchered off in the 3-3 stalemate:

“Kevin is the big question mark. It needs to settle and the medical team will get on that over the next couple of days. We are hopeful Shacks is not as bad as we maybe first thought and Dean is just sickness. He was almost vomiting before the game and it is a strange one. â€

Everton
Kevin Mirallas started on the left of a front three away to Hull but was withdrawn at the break, with Roberto Martinez confirming:

“Kevin was feeling a little bit sore at half-time and we needed everyone to be 100% in order to be dynamic.”â€

Hull
Andrew Robertson is set for x-rays on his ankle and foot after a challenge from Everton’s Mo Besic forced him off on 23 minutes today. Liam Rosenior was withdrawn before the hour mark due to a hamstring problem, whilst Gaston Ramirez was subbed off at the break as a result of his ongoing groin complaint.

Leicester
Danny Drinkwater was replaced by David Nugent on 36 minutes after picking up an injury during the 2-2 draw at Liverpool.

Liverpool
Adam Lallana’s recent run of form was halted earlier today due to injury. The Reds midfielder was subbed off early in the second period, with Brendan Rodgers confirming post-match:

“He’s got a tweak in his thigh, so we’ll see how that is.â€

Mario Balotelli missed out altogether after sustaining an injury in training.

Man United
Ashley Young could be set for a period on the sidelines, according to Louis van Gaal, after he was forced off during today’s draw at Stoke.

“He has a hamstring injury. He’s out for many weeks, I think. But I’m not a doctor so we have to wait for tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.â€

Newcastle
The Magpies look poised to be without Steven Taylor for the remainder of the season. Caretaker boss John Carver confirmed the worst after the centre-half was taken off during today’s draw with Burnley:

“Unfortunately there’s bad news with Steven. It looks like he’s snapped his Achilles tendon – the other one (to which he injured against Chelsea in December 2011). It’s a fresh injury and I’m so disappointed for him because he got off to a great start. He’s a good character and he’ll deal with it. We’ll make sure he’s looked after and everything will be done properly.â€

Southampton
The Saints’ in-form wide man Sadio Mane was withdrawn after scoring his third goal in as many matches in today’s win over Arsenal. After the 2-0 triumph, Ronald Koeman is uncertain whether Mane – who is soon set to fly to the African Cup of Nations with Senegal – will be available for the weekend FA Cup clash with Ipswich:

“I have to wait until Friday, I don’t know what happened exactly, we will know more then if he is available for Sunday or not.â€

Sunderland
Santiago Vergini was withdrawn on 77 minutes after picking up a knock in the Black Cats’ narrow loss at City. Lee Cattermole failed to make the Etihad trip due to a groin problem, Gus Poyet has confirmed.

Tottenham
Erik Lamela missed today’s stunning win over Chelsea with a minor calf complaint, whilst Ryan Mason limped off with a hamstring injury in the first period.

West Brom
Craig Gardner missed the Baggies 1-1 draw at West Ham with a calf problem, whilst fellow midfielder Graham Dorrans was subbed off through injury late on.

West Ham
The Hammers have concerns over today’s scorer Diafra Sakho, who was forced off with a recurrence of a back problem. The Senegal striker will be hoping to recover in time to fly off on international duties in the African Cup of Nations next week.

“We have to have a scan on it and see what condition his back is in. Obviously it’s a similar situation to when he last came back from [international duty with] Senegal, so on Friday the lads will send him for a scan and we’ll see how it goes from thereâ€

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Hart
      zab bainnes Vlaar hutton clyne

      Yaya Hazz Sanchez Siggy Sterling

      Sakho Kane Austen

      2ft 1.3itb

Even though i have2 ft i am still considering wildcarding. vlaar and sakho are potentially injured ,zabaa is a rotation risk and yaya is off. Not to mention my defensive fixtures are terrible.Baines and double city unlikely clean sheets anywhere and dont fancy villa away at leicester. So even with 2 fts still gonna be a lotta of holes here. Madness to consider wc'ing now?

Honestly don't understand why Sterling over Silva. I swear everyone has some sort of fantasy goggles when it comes to sterling. If any other player had blanked as many times as him this season they wouldn't be looked at and be ridiculed if you mention them. Can someone explain to me what this is about?

Also playing OOP isn't enough of an argument. He might be playing upfront but he is at nothing up there!

              11 years, 4 months ago

              Hazard earlier in the season?

              It's because they are explosive.

                11 years, 4 months ago

Sterling isn't anyway near "Hazard" explosiveness imo. Believe me when he starts to score (when studge is back) I'll be looking at him.

Silva blanks once and everyone is saying don't get? Hasn't he proved explosive enough the last few gameweeks?

    Morning everyone,

Entered the top 100 for the first time ever thanks to the great advice from the posters on here.

Anyways, here is my team for the game week: (1 FT,0 banked)

    Foster

    Ivanovic/Zabaleta/Skrtel

    Yaya Toure*/Hazard/Alexis/Sterling

    Kane/Costa/Austin

    (Fabianski/Boyd/Wasilewski/Hutton)

    Best Toure replacement?

    A) Silva
    B) Chadli
    C) Coutinho

Already have 3 chelsea so Fabregas isn't an option

You could certainly be onto a winner there! 🙂 The only concern would be game time, but obviously Poch isn't going to be changing that team any time soon! 😛 I'd go for B...

He's pro-FPL, and the other two are anti-FPL. Better players, but aren't made for points.

Coutinho would be top big a risk I agree. But Man City's fixtures are exactly 'tough' apart from the Chelsea game. Everton are struggling at the moment and after that it is Arsenal at the Etihad who are all over the place against big teams

Yeah, I agree.. that's why I'm keeping Silva. But City aren't exactly firing on all cylinders either. I don't necessarily see those games being high-scoring.

Spurs have the fixtures, and the form. They'll probably let us down in one of the three, but should do well! I guess it's sticking with the crowd (Silva), or getting ahead of the curve (Chadli). 😉 I'd understand you choosing Silva with your rank, though!

I tell you what one of the key reasons I have been doing better this season is because I have never let my rank affect my decision. It is all about getting the better player - for example many were going with Bony/Benteke while I went with Kane at 4.8. Having said that, you should take into consideration that you don't get yourself into an awful mess for the sake of being 'different'!

I quite fancy Chadli. He looked great against Chelsea and looks to be back to his early season form. He wasn't trusted much on here but I remember the steady stream of goals and assists.

It is because low budget forwards are performing so much better. Keep the money in the bank incase of injuries and return from injuries like Aguero.

Got Zabaleta & Benteke two gw's ago.
Zabaleta big fat 0 and Benteke glamorous 4 points.

My hopes lies on fantasy public now.
I suppose everyone are getting rid, so fantasy logic says they are getting doubledigits next gw!

Me too. Brilliantly took out Hazard for Silva as well, on basis of lack of away form. Great moves. Down to £12k now ðŸ™

But you could say that it's certain that if 1 doesn't play the other will. The chances of the game not going ahead are very slim indeed and you should have a good idea of a heightened risk on Sat morning surely

I'm undecided what to do with Zaba.

He has had zero returns in his last three and those were suppose to be the easy fuxtures! After Everton its Arsenal and Chelsea. Can't see Man city keeping CS there.

What's the general consensus amongst the owners?

I'm genuinely considering Skrtel. At least he's not a rotation risk!

Unfortunately it seems the only viable option among City's premium backline is Kompany. Even Hart gets left out. I genuinely don't understand why the manager rotates so much in defence.

Everyone says steer clear from Liverpool. But Zaba has got me zero point in 3 GWs. Can they offer me anything worse than that? Minus points I suppose.

West Brom is a good shout.

    Hart
    zab bainnes Vlaar hutton clyne

    Yaya Hazz Sanchez Siggy Sterling

    Sakho Kane Austen

    2ft 1.3itb

Even though i have2 ft i am still considering wildcarding. vlaar and sakho are potentially injured ,zabaa is a rotation risk and yaya is off. Not to mention my defensive fixtures are terrible.Baines and double city unlikely clean sheets anywhere and dont fancy villa away at leicester. So even with 2 fts still gonna be a lotta of holes here. Madness to consider wc'ing now?
