This evening, we roll out the seventh round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, and take a look back at the key events during New Year’s Day’s sixth round ties.

United Nations is fast becoming the manager to beat after clocking up his second prize for scoring the highest number of points in a round. A tally of 69 points has propelled him into 334th position overall, earning him another £25 worth of free bets from Paddy Power and setting him up for a round seven tie with Mince and Tatties. United Nations’ fielding of Harry Kane and Gael Clichy proved crucial to his victory.

The giant-killing accolade of the round goes to Aaron Ramessi. He may be ranked 33,436th overall but he saw off round six’s highest ranked manager Never Trust Lukaku, who is ranked 19th. Aaron Ramessi now faces CMIFLFC in the seventh round.

Other notable round seven ties include Mediocre Men, who knocked Granville out in round five, taking on Momalpashands, and community writer Saata facing up to Wolverine. Jimbojunior drew the short straw and meets round seven’s highest ranked manager Mjfdept, who is 65th overall.

Among the 16 remaining competitors, 13 have a rank within the top 10,000 and four are in the elite top 1,000 group.

The full list of sixth round results can be found here, while the seventh round draw in full can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

I'm glad we get a winter wildcard coz it gives an extra edge to the non casual player but timing is irritating this season due to
a)Kane announcing himself to the masses
    b)Aguero coming back
    c)Pulis getting a job

It's a tricky one. But with FA Cup this weekend, there's the possibility of the odd injury. If you prepared to take a hit should you be forced to make a transfer then go ahead with the Azpi>JT move.

    Guzan
    Baines Azpilicueta Zabaleta (Bertrand S.Taylor*)
    Yaya* Sanchez Fabregas Downing (Obertan*)
    Austin Kane Costa

    2FT 2.8m ITB

So obviously Yaya out, and preferably Hazard in, but the question is do I transfer out Azpi or Costa (and for who) to enable it?

    Thoughts appreciated!

I'm leaning towards Costa at this moment. Hazard and Fabregas are likely to be involved in any Costa goals and Azpilicueta is a pretty nailed on part of the best defence in the league (he also is my only defender with a half decent fixture next up). I'm not worried about Azpi's price falling.

What do you think is the percentage of weekly active players that's been around since GW 1? Seems like there is an awful lot of ghost teams and players registering new teams for one-offs (e.g. this weeks highest scorer).

    1. Sylvester the Investor
      • 11 Years

FFF calculated that 35-40% of teams are inactive. Their definiton was no activity in the last 5 weeks.

          Fair enough.

Read a post on here earlier this week where someone compared the current Spurs front 3 to Poch's last team. Chadli = J. Rod, Lallana = Eriksen & Lambert = Kane.

Dunno why I'm mentioning it but I think Yaya>Eriksen could come good in the next 2GWs.

Think you need Sanchez. Too much effort to cover his points.

Walcot, Ozil, Giroud, Welbeck, Cazorla, Ramsey ... I just dont see Sanchez keeping the scoring pace with so many options around him. Just like Rooney at United.

After doing this here rabble for going on 8 years, I know the pattern well. Every season, except for one, there is a period where i go into a psychological rut. Doubt and indecision creeps in and i get uncomfortable with being so comfortable. I've had a couple long, painful ones where i nearly packed it in but usually it only lasts a few gameweeks. It shows in my recent decisions and flip flopping. Well onwards and upwards. I can feel my mojo coming back. Can yous relate?

I thought about quitting last night even though top 5k because what should have been an entertaining Chelsea mauling was ruined by Kane on my bench. Every year I think about just watching football for the fun but always end up here 🙂

made 6 transfers before GW17 - something just seemed wrong and I realised I had to make a big change if I'm gonna get anywhere near sufficient points this week and weeks to come.
Turns out I made one hell of a decision and got 84 points (-20) and 88 points the following!

    Thoughts on this WC midfield?

Hazard ADM Sterling (Ramsey when fit) Tadic Boyd

Tadic is frustrating, Ramsey has had a mare this season

I think you need both Hazard and Sanchez in there, and make up points on your rivals with the two others you choose

Sanchez hasn't been scoring though, seems like a waste of money when you look at arsenals other players

He is topping the fpl points charts tho, and will probably stay there if kept fit

No player score in every game

But dont let me go against your gut tho 🙂

I think Chadli would be a much better acquisition than Tadic. I see where you're coming from but I agree with Berba - highly frustrating, and I'd give that one a swerve

3 goals in 3 games not really sure I would waste a transfer on it unless you're on a WC. Then it's a tough one

      Keep JT.

Unless its to get Hazard. There are solid FWD options to survive without Costa IMO.
