This evening, we roll out the seventh round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup X, as sponsored by Paddy Power, and take a look back at the key events during New Year’s Day’s sixth round ties.

United Nations is fast becoming the manager to beat after clocking up his second prize for scoring the highest number of points in a round. A tally of 69 points has propelled him into 334th position overall, earning him another £25 worth of free bets from Paddy Power and setting him up for a round seven tie with Mince and Tatties. United Nations’ fielding of Harry Kane and Gael Clichy proved crucial to his victory.

The giant-killing accolade of the round goes to Aaron Ramessi. He may be ranked 33,436th overall but he saw off round six’s highest ranked manager Never Trust Lukaku, who is ranked 19th. Aaron Ramessi now faces CMIFLFC in the seventh round.

Other notable round seven ties include Mediocre Men, who knocked Granville out in round five, taking on Momalpashands, and community writer Saata facing up to Wolverine. Jimbojunior drew the short straw and meets round seven’s highest ranked manager Mjfdept, who is 65th overall.

Among the 16 remaining competitors, 13 have a rank within the top 10,000 and four are in the elite top 1,000 group.

The full list of sixth round results can be found here, while the seventh round draw in full can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

Posted on the last page that FFF and FPLS are reading the market differently. Tonight's changes might help us assess which is reading the wildcard moves more accurately.

Want a l'pool mid (thinkn coutinho) but one of these has to make way!!
Downing,(hav since gw4) mirallas (only brought in this wk,don't ask me why) or silva(run may b ovr).

I would much prefer Downing or Silva over Coutinho. The only Liverpool midfielder i would think about would be Sterling.....if or when Sturridge returns

What ye think of this WC team?

    Foster (Pantilimon)

Terry / Hutton / Bertrand (Wasilewski / Trippier)

Sterling / Hazard / Sánchez / Sigurdsson (Boyd)

    Costa / Kane / Austin

GKs rotate nicely and will have 6.1m in the bank to get Aguero / Rooney / etc etc if and when needed. Doubts are with Sterling at the moment. May change him.

Very similar to mine but I have ddg and hamer in goal, wisdom for trip and RvP for Austin. Will do RvP to Aguero once the latter is fit

      Chadli

Very similar output so I guess Chadli's cheaper price probably wins it - if you think he'll play consistently.

Eriksen on set pieces and likely to play the full 90 each game though?

Ado you value set pieces without pens at nearly £2m? Guaranteed game time is important though. I'd be a bit nervous about that with Chadli.

Set pieces mean additional assist potential. Has Eriksen been quite unlucky recently?

Both look like their over producing a little based on their shots on target. Chadli's figures are better when it comes to shots in box. Eriksen appears to have twice the assist potential, but has produced 75% fewer assists than Chadli...

Thanks. I don't want to sell him, but I hate losing team value. Tempted to move RVP to someone else for one week and bring him back next week at a lower price. I'm not expecting huge returns versus the league's meanest defence. If I do that though, I have to wait to shift Azpilicueta to a Saints defender for three weeks... 😕

RVP has double digit potential, and strong fixtures. One to keep, but not buy.

I'm in the same boat Diva, though keep in mind that RvP scored a brace vs the Saints a few GW's ago...away 😉

Who know's what he'll pull off at Old Trafford this time around 😉
Can't see Berty & co keeping a cleanie vs Falcao, Rooney & RVP all fit & firing

I'd wait 'til next week to do both moves Diva, it's what I'm doing at least
      RvP --> Kane
      Baines --> Berty

Thanks Zasa. I don't particularly want to sell RVP, I brought him in to carry me through to the WC/Aguero's return, but others are pushing his price down. I like your moves. I've had Kane for weeks. Very happy!

I'd be leaning Siggy, although Palace are coming off back to back cleans so maybe doubling Spurs attack isn't the best idea...could bench Eriksen. Close call but I'd narrow it down between them two.

"Toronto FC and former England striker is interested in a move to Anfield on loan until the end of the season, but his club are still insisting on a permanent deal"

When a canadian club are insisting on a permanent deal to get rid, you are probably better off not to take it on..

    1. Walsh

Don't agree. They may just not want to keep paying his weekly wages. Think he's still got quality in him and can help a Premier League side if utilized correctly.

Right, need to get the Haz man in and pull the wildcard trigger

Who to replace - Siggy or Downing?

Would lose similar value for each.

I love siggy, but with Bony out I fear for his production, but downing is still downing, although in a very attacking west ham.

first to 5 on which one to keep wins - go ....

I would love to, but almost impossible if you have Costa and Aguero up top. Would mean 1-2 non playing defenders. Or am I missing a trick?

          • 12 Years
          11 years, 1 month ago

Planning on doing it the last gameweek so much will change but I am thinking of doing four heavies in midfield and a cheaper possibly Chelsea-less defense. Much will depend on whether I opt for Costa or not though.

            11 years, 1 month ago

Exactly mate. If I only have Aguero/Austin/Kane up front then I can go as large as I like in midfield, but Costa is too consistent for me to take out.

Indeed, I am going with the triple up, Fab, Hazard and Costa - they will be in the top 3 top scoring for their position and there is no one at the moment offering fab or costa's returns.

On current form I'd keep Siggy. I've got Downing too and want to get rid but will probably keep him until after the Hull game.

Anyone else think the table as it stands may make Mourinho re-think his strategy of shutting up shop after getting a lead? Or will losing a lead to Spurs push him further down that road?

I can see shake up in defence, if there is one thing Mou hates, it is crappy defence. Can see Luis being brought in.

Don't see that happening personally. Seems knee jerk and Luis doesn't improve them defensively imo.

Might lead to a reshuffle of the back 4

I don't think so. I think the notion of shutting down up 2-0 has served him very well and I can't see him doing otherwise. He did not go up 2-0 against Spurs and have a chance to follow that general guideline. They were still generating loads of chances in the last thirdish of the game when they went down by a couple goals they just weren't taking them.

May open him up to the possibility that this season, however unlikely, could come down to GD? Wishful thinking on my part (have Fab, Hazard and Costa - may keep all 3 past the WC)

Yeah I think that is wishful thinking on your part based on your FPL team. I don't like tripling on their attack because of this very reason 🙂

Which one to get rid for him, Benteke or Austin ?

    Cheers

      Benteke by a distance.

I'm doing Benteke. Rate him as a player but Villa simply don't attack.

They are waiting for him to officially leave. I think he is supposed to go on the 5th and is set to play their FA Cup game? I remember seeing a scout tweet along these lines several days back. Or I may be mistaken completely 🙂

I would actually wait a week. Palace have been back to old defensive form since Millen came in and they changed formation. Kane will still be cheap as chips. Use the transfers elsewhere possibly?

As it stands I don't want 9 of the players I currently have in my team, but I've got 2FT. Should I use my WC or wait until next week?

WC played, 13 changes made. I didn't realise I hated my team so much. December was a poor month. Anyone considering Adam Johnson as a 5th mid (good fixtures)

Hope January is a more prosperous one for you, mate. Big no on Adam Johnson. Too enigmatic and too expensive as a fifth mid for me.

Repost; Feels so....template, but is there anything better than Yaya and Sakho out for Hazard and Kane? Leaves me with no Man City coverage, and 3 Chelsea...
    Tempted by Ings too.

    Yaya Fabs Downing Siggy Sanchez
    Costa Austin Sakho

I'd be terrified to not own Hazard for this upcoming gameweek. I do not think that triple Chelsea attack is a good strategy, however.

Triple Chelsea could be a short term move if Costa becomes Aguero in a couple of weeks. 🙂

Personally I think a Chelsea defender and Hazard are verging on essential and then you should choose who you prefer out of Fabregas and Costa... But as the wildcards right around the corner these seem like great moves.

Now that City have a striker Silva will go back to being Silva. More points potential in Sterling I think at this point if you are looking to transfer one of them in.

Baines - I've watched a couple of games and Everton are a train wreck right now. No one passes to Baines anymore, they just cut inside and try and shoot from 30 yards.
