Our Friday afternoon regular comes around once again, as we take a look at the PlayON Player Price List ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON have now extended their deadline for submitting your teams so you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first kick-off each week – so tomorrow that’s right up to 12.45pm, when Sunderland welcome Liverpool to the Stadium of Light in the Gameweek’s early kick-off.

Goalkeeper – Mark Schwarzer
With Kasper Schmeichel still sidelined, Nigel Pearson has recently snapped up the veteran from Chelsea as Leicester look to cement their spot in the top-flight. Priced at just 5.5m, Schwarzer looks poised to take over from Ben Hamer in goal and his experience between the sticks could be vital as his new club play host to an Aston Villa side with a single strike in the last five Gameweeks. West Bromwich Albion’s Ben Foster is immediately drafted in as our favoured option between the posts. Available for just 6.3m in PlayON, the Baggies number one will be hoping to benefit from Tony Pulis’ installation to the Hawthorns hotseat and at home to fellow strugglers Hull, looks a solid shout to rack up his seventh clean sheet of the season.

Defender – Mathieu Debuchy
Whilst Arsenal’s failure to keep a clean sheet for six matches has dented their defensive appeal, it has, nonetheless, ensured the Frenchman remains favourably priced as Stoke roll up to the Emirates. Coming in at 7.2m, Debuchy faces a Potters attack with just three goals in their last four road trips and with the visitors’ top scorer Mame Biram Diouf having departed to the African Cup of Nations, a shut-out could be on the cards. The right-back’s strike against Liverpool in Gameweek 17 also serves a reminder of his points potential at both ends of the pitch. Three goals in four matches for a defender is an eye-catching feat and makes John Terry (8.7m) our essential pick in defence as Chelsea host Newcastle at Stamford Bridge. In spite of his recent attacking endeavours, the centre-half is even kinder on your budget than team-mates Branislav Ivanovic (9.5m) and Gary Cahill (8.8m) and is always likely to pick up extra points with the clearance and interception elements in PlayON’s scoring matrix. Given that the Blues haven’t conceded in the last four in front of their own fans, another clean sheet would be no surprise.

Midfielders – Stephane Sessegnon
The West Brom midfielder will be hoping to continue his recent fine form in Tony Pulis’ first match at the Hawthorns. Sessegnon has bagged four assists and fired six shots on target (each worth 200 points in PlayON) in the previous five Gameweeks and Pulis will be relying on his creativity and Saido Berahino’s threat up front to get the better of a Hull side that have conceded seven in their last four away matches. Managerless Newcastle make their way to Stamford Bridge on the back of a run that has seen them concede 13 goals in their last five matches. After losing their unbeaten run to the Magpies early last month, Jose Mourinho’s side will be out for revenge and we turn to Eden Hazard as the Magpies likely chief tormentor. The Belgian has served up three goals and as many assists in his last five outings and, at a price of 13.9m, is cheaper than team-mate Diego Costa (15m) up front.

Forwards – Ashley Barnes
We’re overlooking Danny Ings for Burnley’s home clash with QPR and instead turn to his in-form strike partner. Whilst the former has scored just once in the last seven league matches, Barnes has racked up three goals in five and priced at a mere 6.5m, he looks a real value option against a side that has failed to pick up a single pint on their travels so far. Man of the moment Harry Kane is impossible to ignore. After making the PlayON picks as our left-field striker on Boxing Day, the youngster is elevated to essential status for Tottenham’s trip to Crystal Palace. Coming in at just 7.7m, Kane has delivered five goals and three assists in his last five outings and looks in the mood to spoil Alan Pardew’s homecoming at Selhurst Park.

I did Yaya to ADM, but only because I have Eriksen and Kane already. I think ADM will get at least 60 minutes this week and then has qpr, LEI. The alternative was Fabregas then WC next week, but I'd like to hold out one more week if possible.

I have Kane so in thinking ADM might be the best bet instead of doubling on spurs

My thinking was ADM providing the bullets for Falcao, RVP and Rooney. Even if he doesn't score there is plenty of scope there to assist a couple of goals.

Ideally, bring him in after the Southampton game, but having said that, United are at home so you'd fancy them to score.

I see quite a few people doubling up on Chelsea mids, and/or actively advising people not to double up on Chelsea's defence. Just take a look at Chelsea's fixtures from Feb onwards (arguably from now onwards).

    Gameweek 23 Man City (H)
    Gameweek 24 Aston Villa (A)
    Gameweek 25 Everton (H)
    Gameweek 26 Burnley (H)
    Gameweek 27 Leicester (A)
    Gameweek 28 West Ham (A)
    Gameweek 29 Southampton (H)
    Gameweek 30 Hull (A)
    Gameweek 31 Stoke (H)
    Gameweek 32 QPR (A)
    Gameweek 33 Man Utd (H)

While unlikely, that's a run of 9 clean sheets between fixtures with both Manchester clubs!

Would it kill your WC team to go with Eriksen or Sterling over Fabregas, or Giroud over Costa? I don't think it would, plus it frees up funds.

Interesting, you know I hadn't even thought of the option of going double chelsea defence.
If it pays off it also can annoy your opponents when every time they get CS you get two

Exactly, love that. Am considering Courtois (5.9m) + 4.0m rather than rotate keepers, but Costa > Giroud funds should allow say, Terry + Ivanovic, if you fancy.

You're taking away a captaincy option by having 2 Chelsea attacking players - would you captain Fabregas?

If you had a backline of say (not given this any serious thought)...

        Courtois
        Terry Baines PVA Wisdom Cameron

I think you'd need to have 2 x Chelsea outfield defenders to capitalise on the bonus points, actually.

No I wouldn't - and I've not owned him all season. I just don't like too much risk on a double defence. I did it once this season with Baines and Jags total disaster. Just could not ever justify Courtois personally - but its all about personal choice which makes it fun!

A lot of chat here about Chelsea players recently.

Essentially Hazard, Terry + 1 of either Fab/Costa.

Just looking at my #ChelseaStats (sorry) for my own FPL team.

I've only owned 3 Chelsea players at the same time once this whole season. I've gone 7 weeks with only Hazard in my team and a total of 7 weeks owning Costa. Rest were Azpilcueta.

No doubt they're decent players but always look at what else you could do with the money!

Mainly get a better mid than Boyd

          true, that is big advantage

i can make that work without a Chelsea defender though tbh

What it means is that without a Chelsea defender I can any striker bar RvP to go with Kun and Kane

Since I got Terry in to make Terry, Hazard, Costa, they've got me 145 points (excluding captains) from 8 GWs. That's 18 points per week, or 6 per player per week. Super Chelsea!

Heaton + Panti look good, and is 0.6 cheaper than DDG + 4mil

I don't have enough transfers in my mind to be worthy of a WC but some little tweaks I need to do over a few weeks

I'd try and avoid but wouldn't be completely against it.

      As always it depends who.

looking at Bony + Demi > Kun + Trippier.

I know I will be getting Kun eventually anyways and I need to be rid of Bony. Demi is deadweight and I will I don't need the Demi out to fund Kun, I have 3 City so I do need to drop to be able to have Kun anyways..and given their upcoming fixtures I wouldn't even want any City defenders I think (have Zaba too)

    A. Hazard and Foster.
    B. Hazard and Forster (bought at 5.0).
    C. Hazard and Pantillimon.

BTW I'm keeping Hazard, this is just a choice of goalkeeper.

I know you think you're being sassy but most of these standalone transfer posts are meaningless without context

I'd probably stick with Forster for that price, and get PvA in for Sunderland defence

FISO says Aguero has had 4k today. So there were 14k getting him in before the fitness news.

That's total transfers in since Saturday. 4K Net Transfers in today, though - so momentum is building.

Best one week punt till my WC?

    Guzan
    Azpil | Zab | Cress
    Alexis | Raheem | Haz (c) | Silva (Boyd)
    Austin | Costa | Kane

I'll probably use WC next week so I'd like to use my FT now.

first of all, you dont need to do WC next week, your team is very good, i suggest that you wait until february so you can see all the transfers, injuries and stuff. That is your current advantage, dont take it away yet!
I would do Debuchy over Creswell
