Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are back for Arsenal. Leighton Baines is expected to return for Everton’s home clash with City, though Sylvain Distin is ruled out for the Merseysiders. Villa skipper Ron Vlaar is out for up to six weeks with a knee injury. Tim Krul is expected to return for Newcastle’s weekend trip to Stamford Bridge, Brendan Rodgers hopes to have Daniel Sturridge back at some point this month, whilst Marouane Chamakh could be set to return for Palace.

Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini are all available for Arsenal’s clash with Stoke after returning to training, though Danny Welbeck has been ruled out by Arsene Wenger.

Robert Martinez has ruled Sylvain Distin out of the visit of Man City this weekend, with the defender picking up a groin problem against the Hammers in midweek. Elsewhere, the Blues boss has confirmed that Leighton Baines missed the midweek tie with a knock, though is expected to be fully fit for the weekend.

Aston Villa have been rocked by the news that captain Ron Vlaar will miss the next four to six weeks of action with a knee injury. Meanwhile, Nathan Baker, Kieran Richardson and Gabby Agbonlahor are all expected to return in time for the trip to Leicester.

Tim Krul made his return from injury for Newcastle’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Celtic on Thursday evening. The Dutch stopper played 45 minutes, and went on to reveal that he feels good and hopes to be in contention for the meeting with Chelsea on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Daniel Sturridge is in the final stages of his recovery, and hopes the striker will be available again “at some point in January.”

Leicester midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has been ruled out of the weekend visit of Villa through injury, after the Argentine was withdrawn early on in the Foxes’ cup victory over Newcastle last week. In more positive news, fellow midfielder Danny Drinkwater may be in contention to train on Friday having come off injured against Liverpool, whilst Dean Hammond and Andy King have both made a return to training ahead of the weekend visit of Aston Villa.

Burnley skipper Jason Shackell will hope to prove his fitness in time for the weekend, after missing the midweek tie against Spurs with a calf injury. Clarets boss Sean Dyche is optimistic that the defender will train with the squad today, and is expected to make a judgement call on the skipper’s availability for the weekend. Fellow centre-back Michael Duff has also returned to training following injury, and will also be looking to prove his fitness ahead of the visit of QPR.

Alan Pardew could be handed a boost for his first home match in charge of Palace, with reports indicating that Marouane Chamakh could be set to make the squad for the visit of Tottenham.

    Hi guys,

What do you think is best option for the weekend?

    Fabi / Krul
    Cresswell / Zaba / Azpili / Wisdom / Alcaarz
    boyd / Sanchez/ Haz / Silva / Siggy
    Costa / Austin / Benteke

    0.0 ITB 1 FT

    a) take out zaba and replace with cheap. (planning to start cresswell, azpili, wisdom)
    b) take out siggy and replace with chadli (lose lots of value....)
    c) Hold & have 2 FT's for next week for Benteke & Austin out?

    Cheers,

Very tight. I prefer ADM because he's probably the best man u player to have. Hazard for Chelsea.

Jovetic, Boyd or Austin? Currently on Jovetic, he'll probably only play 60 minutes.

Tbf, he didn't say anything wrong. As Chief Exec of the PFA, he is representing Ched Evans so it's hardly a matter on which he can be silent. Bruce, otoh, should have kept quiet - maybe he want people not looking at his team.

        What's the play this week?

West Brom defense? Surely no one is bringing in PVA - it's Sunderland for Christ's sake!

Di Maria? How long is he going to play?

Seting my team out as follows, the only transfer I might make is doubling up on another cheap WBA defender.

        Hart (Myhill)
        Wisdom Bruce Terry
        Silva Sterling Sanchez Hazard
        Kane Costa Austin

        Subs: Downing Clyne Dummett

This one seems tricky but which three would you play from...

        A) Kane
        B) Austin
        C) Di Maria
        D) Silva.

I think Di Maria, Austin and Kane all have better fixtures but Silva has form and have to leave one out.

Silva for sure. Especially w/ Yaya out for a month at ACON.

Form over fixtures every time. Remember Harry Kane?

Yeah, he was also on my bench last week.

If it's form over fixtures then surely Kane, Austin and Silva have to play?

Di Maria is just coming back and Southampton could be sturdy.

That's my idea. ADM probably won't start and might not even play the way RVP/Falcao/Rooney/Mata are playing together.

United should've beat Spurs, Villa and Stoke.

                Are RvP/Falcao/Rooney/Mata playing that well?

                DiMaria goes straight in.

It's not the United players playing well I have to be worried about, it's if Di Maria plays well against a top side at the expense of Siva against a side who can't defend at the moment.

Kane and Austin seem the best two options than its one or the other.

How's this for a WC team guys?

        Panti Gilks
        Clyne Clichy Terry Hutton Wisdom
        Sanchez Fabregas Hazard Siggy Chadli
        Giroud Kane Aguero

Tempted to do it now. I know Aguero won't play but I won't be able to afford it later and Chadli can play for the next couple of weeks. Clichy is a rotation risk but he will become Bertrand in the weeks ahead. Thoughts?

I'm liking it, but I might be tempted to double up on WBA.

Panty > Foster if you can afford it.

I honestly believe Chdli can outscore the expensive strikers. It was a push to iinclude Giroud but I see nobody better.

What's with the PvA love-in? Is he just good value, or a potential sneaky differential?

Looking at downgrading Debuchy to PvA to have the money for Aguero in the next week or two.

High demand leads to increased prices.

High sales leads to dropping prices.

          Market mechanics.
