Alexis Sanchez grabs two goals and an assist as Arsenal stroll past Stoke at the Emirates. Laurent Koscielny also finds the net as the Gunners earn a first clean sheet in seven. Dusan Tadic climbs off the bench to fire the winner as Southampton earn a tenth shut-out of the season and Man United meekly surrender their ten-match unbeaten run.

Sanchez Inspires Gunners to Victory

The summer signing from Barcelona soared to the summit of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings with another stunning display as Arsenal swept aside Stoke at the Emirates. With two goals and an assist in the 3-0 stroll, Sanchez played a part in all three of his side’s goals to serve a reminder of his importance to the Gunners, at a time when the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud are all arriving on our radars ahead of a very kind upcoming schedule. Once next week’s trip to the Etihad is out of the way, Arsene Wenger’s side have seven excellent fixtures in the following eight (AVL, LEI, cpl, EVE, qpr, WHM, new), which are bound to play a significant part in how our winter Wildcards are restructured. Despite Giroud’s return forcing him onto the flank, Sanchez’ sublime form suggests more of the same looks likely as he shows little sign of slowing down in his first season in the top flight.

Defensive Concerns for Wenger

A first clean sheet in seven attempts may well bring the Gunners defence into contention ahead of those aforementioned fixtures. Laurent Koscielny’s early opener – his second league goal in 11 league appearances – served notice of his threat in the opposition area, though elsewhere at the back, the north London club were without Kieran Gibbs and Calum Chambers due to an ankle problem and illness respectively. With Mathieu Debuchy now set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a dislocated shoulder, Chambers could be set for a first-team reprieve at right-back, and at 5.0, would certainly be the cheapest of Wenger’s regulars if Debuchy is out for a lengthy period, though Hector Bellerin (4.4) could also come into contention. David Ospina was handed his first league start between the sticks against the Potters, though, and at a cost of 4.8, is certainly one to consider if he can stay ahead of Wojciech Szczesny in the keeper pecking order.

Tadic Stuns United

With Sadio Mane injured, the Serbian was a surprise substitute as Ronald Koeman opted for James Ward-Prowse and new loan signing Eljero Elia on either side of Graziano Pelle. Replacing Elia just after the hour mark, Tadic needed just six minutes to grab the winner and has now scored in back-to-back league outings to take his tally to three for the season. Whilst yesterday’s strike bodes well for his chances of returning to the first XI, the jury remains out on Tadic – bearing in mind he had chalked up two assists in his previous nine, few will be tempted just yet.

Another Clean Sheet for the Saints

A 1-0 win at Old Trafford afforded the St Mary’s side their tenth shut-out of the campaign yesterday. Over the course of the last five, Koeman’s men have kept out Everton, Arsenal and United and conceded just once to Chelsea to force a way back into our winter Wildcard plans. Given that Graziano Pelle has scored just twice since Gameweek 8, it’s likely that the main focal point will be firmly on defence, and with showdowns against only two of the top six in the next 12 Gameweeks, renewed interest in the likes of Nathaniel Clyne and Ryan Bertrand looks imminent. Toby Alderweireld’s withdrawal due to a thigh injury is worth monitoring, though – if the Belgian is sidelined for any length of time, Florin Gardos, at 4.8, looks set to benefit whilst Maya Yoshida is off on international duties with Japan in the Asia Cup.

Sluggish United Fail to Impress

Louis van Gaal’s side welcomed Southampton to Old Trafford on the back of a ten-match unbeaten run – the last time they had tasted defeat was in early November away to Man City. With the treatment room emptying, the United manager almost had too many options at his disposal and dropped Radamel Falcao from the squad altogether as Angel Di Maria partnered Robin van Persie up front. Wayne Rooney started in central midfield again but was moved up front after the Dutchman was forced off with an ankle problem but the hosts failed to register a single shot on target all match. With promoted trio QPR, Leicester and Burnley in the next four, the fixtures smile kindly on the Red Devils but yesterday’s showing did little to convince they can deliver.

Anyone toying up with the idea of having Sturridge as second striker in WC? I must say I am tempted. When fit he surely has goals in him. The BP system also likes him and he has decent fixtures. I simply trust him as fantasy asset.

I know he is 11,1 but ultimate differential and very few will be able to afford him

Not this season even when he was fit. He's too expensive for me coming off a long injury and pool as a whole having a dissapponting season l. Not the free scoring side of last year!

I think Fab vs Adm vs Silva is a toss up. Fab is consistent but not so likely to get the monster game with multiple goals/assists. Di Maria and Silva are more likely to do that, so it seems, but also more likely to get a 1 and 2 point game when Fab gets his 3, 5, or 6. I see this as a gambler's type dilemma. Go safe or go risky.

This a good wildcard team? A lot of teams looking the same so I went with something a little bit different...

      Courtois - Panti

      Ivan - Terry - Fonte - Berty - Clyne

      Sanchez - Walcott - Coutinho - Chadli - Boyd

      Kane - Austin - Berahino

ok a lot of the players I have are in wildcard teams, Coutinho, Walcott and Berahino being they slight differentials, but the main thing different is I'm thinking of playing 5 at the back, matches seem to tighten up with less goals in the second half of the season, so a clean sheet for Southampton and Chelsea would secure me 36 points plus bonus points

          This. Especially Aguero.

Hazard is sought of understandable given your strategy. But then why pay premium for Fonte and Bertrand when your never going to play them. Same for Panti.

          1. quinna56
            • 11 Years

I'm thinking of playing 5 at the back most weeks because I think there will be low scoring gameweeks so I won't be benching them, also I got Panti for 4.4 so I don't think that's a waste of 0.4 even if he's benched nearly every week, just cover in case Cech plays instead of Courtois

Ok. I think your crazy. But you have built your team around a single vision, which is the most important thing. Dont compromise it.

I'm happy to gamble on not having Haz, can see the Chelsea attacking points being spread over their 3 main men; Haz, Fab and Costa, who are all overpriced in my opinion

Not having Kun... that does worry me though, but I want to have a team that's not the same as every other team

        lol Moses.

Considering the value thats not bad. Is it possible to get Austin over Berahino if you turn Moses into a non-playing sub. Your defender subs are both better anyway.

Not true. The teams around him all have punts! So by picking the template picks he'll rocket up. No he isnt going to win, but I think we already know that.

the problem is who to get from the big teams...

neither Arsenal, ManU or City are providing good defenders.

When is the right time to bring in Aguero for Costa
      A) Now
      B) After Arsenal game and before Chelsea game
      C) After both these games, then Hull, Stoke, Newcastle coming up
      D) Just go with Costa

Stay patient. Your wild card team will change in the next couple of weeks and you will always find players to maximise your budget. Don't worry about the rises keep it in reserve, a couple more transfers and all hell will break loose anyway.

Hey lads. Haven't been on much lately. Any thoughts on my team? Still have the Jan WC intact, looking to play it late.

      Adrián - Elliot
      Terry - Zabaleta - Wisdom - Hutton - Dummett
      Hazard - Alexis - Chadli - Siggy - Boyd
      Costa - Benteke - Austin

      2 FTs, £4.3m itb.

      A) Benteke > Aguero, Zabaleta > any defender who is less than £6.2m, thinking Trippier.
      B) Something else?

        A) Zabaleta > Trippier
        B) Better Goalkeeping option. Not a fan of Adrian, there are a lot of other cheaper and better keepers, I personally would go for Pantilimon and Heaton who are great at rotation.

Can you please explain to me how does the BP system likes Sturridge? he's played 3 games and blanked twice, generating BPS scores of 9 & 2, an average of 4.5 which is less than the 6 he would have got for turning up. the other game he scored in he got 24 bps ..... if he hadnt scored it would have been minus bps as it was a winning goal.

Waiting 2 weeks to WC, and waiting for Aguero. If he rises too much I'll downgrade Skrtel to release the funds needed for current planned WC team.
