With gremlins in the machine, the clock was ticking on this week’s ScoutCast as Granville and I are hurried into service.

Displaying all the urgency and determination of Ade Akinfenwa at the end of season buffet, we waste no time in driving through the ScoutCast regulars, whilst weighing the merits of when to swoop for a certain “essential” Argentine.

While this week’s low fat episode may come as a treat for some, we’re working towards a return to the full fat, high cholesterol live Hangout from next week. Keep ‘em peeled for news on that.

For now, grab this rapid recording via this link or stream the swiftness via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So we can all agree Iago Aspas is crap, right? Turns out Liverpool should be recalling him from loan, not Origi or Ibe.

18 appearances, 14 goals for him for at Sevilla with many appearances coming off the bench.

He was never really given a solid run of games last year, to be fair. Not that he did anything in his limited pitch time to deserve it...but still.

The corner kick still makes me cringe. And I'm not sure if that 14 goals is correct. ESPN says it's 8 goals and 2 assists. And most of his goals come from the two hattricks he got in cup games. I guess we'll never know if he's actually decent or not.

Posted this earlier today but would be happy to hear opinions from the Deadzone.

One thing that has confounded me this month about the Wild Card is figuring out price points for strikers. I had always figured that I would re-allocate my funds to have an expensive striker and a midpriced one joining Aguero, but the expensive striker supply seems so limited right now, as does the midpriced one. If you list the legitimate options to join Aguero up front by PPG in the three price categories,

    10-11: Costa, Rooney, (Falcao, Sturridge)
7-8: Jovetic, Bony, Pelle, (Giroud, Lukaku, Benteke)
    Carroll at 6.9m
5-6: Austin, Kane, Sakho, Cisse, Ings, Berahino (Perez, Ulloa)

The cheap category has six different players scoring at least 4 PPG, while the midpriced has only three, two of whom will be fighting for one spot at City, and the premium strikers seem to be Costa or bust, with the MUN situation so murky. Carroll seems to be between price points but since it is easier to shift down than up in price, he is at the top of the cheap options.

Since the players you are getting don't have to be season keepers, and some of these players' prices clearly indicate performances so far that are well above or below expectations, I think picking the price point with the greatest number of options to move on from a striker when he slows down is crucial, and I'm wondering if this makes two cheap slots a viable option if no new blood comes in during the next two weeks.

Besides Costa, is there any forward more expensive than Carroll at 6.9m who is worth it?

          Aguero Costa Kane

          or

          Aguero Bony Kane

          That's the ticket for me.

Pelle/Giroud look decent to me, but it is hard to make the case that they're significantly (Or at all) better than Austin/Kane. Sturridge has a chance to crash the party I suppose, but first he has to stick on the field for a while.

It's certainly a strange situation, but I guess if you thought that Kane was going to be the first choice Spurs striker he would have been priced at 8.5 or perhaps even higher, so you can't let the price affect you too much, although it does limit your flexibility some.

I'm not convinced any of Cameron, PVA and Baird are nailed on.

I'm going with Wollscheid (think as the new marquee defensive signing he will play way more than Cameron), O'Shea and Wisdom.

Curtois instead of Terry to afford the tweaks.

Agree with your first statement to a degree, RCA. I think Poyet rates PvA more than we know despite his defensive failings - but Cameron and Baird surely cannot be described as nailed on. I don't think Wollscheid is a good pick at this time, though. O'Shea and Wisdom, however, I like. Also not sure about Courtois at this point - I like to have two playing keepers with cancellations and DGWs upcoming.

The thing is he is a jack of all trades but a master of none. They have players who you can claim are first choice ahead of him when they have a full squad of healthy players. He has been filling in for others seemingly for the entire year. I think he will continue to get decent gametime but I wouldn't be comfortable to say he is nailed.

Thanks for the reply Walshy. Maybe you're right with PVA, I'm just not risking it though. Poyet has dropped players before in poor form, he's not afraid to do it.
Wollscheid is a 6 foot 4 CB going up for Stoke corners. I'm having me some of that 🙂

Cheers RCA 🙂 Yeah I hear you with PvA but he was starting week in week out for quite a while before his injury at the beginning of the year and he was similarly making defensive errors as he did last weekend against Liverpool. I think he's a reasonable risk to take.

Hughes seems to love him a reclamation project. If Wollscheid gets a run over Wilson...and Cameron for that matter...at CB he will be a good pick, I'm just not so sold on it right now. It could work a trick though.

What's a good team value for this stage of the season

A selling value of 104m will get you a great WC team. Many on here have way higher than that.

Help me out please gennlemen! On my WC (wildcard, not toilet).

    A) Silva at 9.3
    B) a 9.4+ mid, but Wisdom -> Baird to fund it
    C) any other 9.3 or lower mid.

Rest of team is: Foster, Myhill; Terry, Clyne, Wisdom, PVA, Wasi; Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Chadli, Boydinho; Aguero, Costa, Kane.

Cheers all. Moving house this weekend and short of research time, so any help appreciated!

How about Clyne -> Fonte and Silva -> ADM.
Try ADM out for his few nice fixtures and then re assess.

(Unless you got Clyne for cheap, that scuppers things)

Arsenal tend to get bossed out of these types of games with possession. I think he could possibly net but I don't think he's got an explosive return in him with this fixture. Could be way off given how good Arsenal looked last game against Stoke, though.

            1. Aguero
            2 Kane
            3 Rooney
            4 Haz

Sunderland's defence can either be really bad or so solid it can keep any team at bay. Spurs' attack is also inconsistent. Kane(C) sounds risky to me.

Thoughts on this wct? fairly happy

    Forster - (Hamer)
    Bert - Terry - Ivan/baines punt this week? - (PVA - Wasil)
    Sanchez - Chadli - Markovic - Hazard - (Boyd)
    Kane - Austin - Aguero(c)

Yeh I could. They were my other punty options. Markovic is most expensive. I just don't trust stoke/cpl as much

Next 2 for Stoke are Leicester and QPR, worth considering imo 🙂
Is Markovic good? If so, go for it. Coutinho is another option if you want to get a Liverpool mid.

His stats have been improving heaps recently + he is classed as a mid playing LW/LF basically.

Is arnautovic nailed? I was looking at him, moses and crouch/bojan.

        Yeh, I can get:

        Forster - Hamer
        Terry - Bert - 6.5 - PVA - Wasil
        Sanchez - Haz - Chad - Sterling - Albrighton
        Austin - Kane - Aguero.

    Heaton (Panti)
    Terry, Clyne, Wasil, (Wisdom, Chambers)
Hazard, ADM (vc), Fabregas, Sanchez, (Boyd)
    Austin, Aguero (c) Kane
