With gremlins in the machine, the clock was ticking on this week’s ScoutCast as Granville and I are hurried into service.

Displaying all the urgency and determination of Ade Akinfenwa at the end of season buffet, we waste no time in driving through the ScoutCast regulars, whilst weighing the merits of when to swoop for a certain “essential” Argentine.

While this week’s low fat episode may come as a treat for some, we’re working towards a return to the full fat, high cholesterol live Hangout from next week. Keep ‘em peeled for news on that.

For now, grab this rapid recording via this link or stream the swiftness via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is my wildcard team good to go?

    Panti, McCarthy
    Terry, Betrand, Creswell, Wisdom, Chambers
Sanchez, Hazard, Di Maria, Downing, Ward Prowse
    Kun, Austin, Kane

    Leaves me with 1.7 ITB

    Any changes needed?

Looks fine. I am a little worried about JWP's long term minutes once they have Mane back and get all their midfielders healthy. A decent fifth mid seems to be important over this period of cancellations and DGWs.

Cresswell has difficult fixtures after this week. I would double up SOT or downgrade.

This is my wildcard team would appreciate opinions on query below.

    Forster, (Panti)
    Terry, Clyne, Cameron, (Wisdom, Hutton)
Sanchez, Hazard, Di Maria, Chadli, Fabregas
    Aguero, Kane(c), (Austin)

I want to put sterling in for Fabregas but I'm not sure what defender to get for 5.6 as I don't really want to get Fonte as it leaves me with 3 Saints defenders.

The most simple thing to me is to lose Forster for a cheaper GK to rotate with Pants and get Bertrand in if you don't want Fonte. Should give you enough to get Fab.

I have Fab but I want to lose him for sterling but unsure on what to do with the 1.3 I get with dropping fab to sterling.

I'd downgrade the keeper anyway, unnecessary money spent imo.

I got Forster at 5 and he's proven to have done well doubling up with clyne.

If you do Forster to Krul you save 0.8. Then you can put Fonte in and still have 2 Soton defenders. Panti/Krul is a more cost effective pair than what you have.

Or if you really want to keep Forster then downgrade Panti. You'll mostly select Forster anyway so having them both there is a bit of a luxury.

Yep one problem having a high team value but only thing I could do is Austin to Costa Fab to Boyd but I honestly think Austin will outscore Costa points wise from here on out.

Either keep money ITB, or save a FT next week so you have 2 to work with in case a bandwagon comes along.

I'll probably get Hutton later on, as I had no plan to play him for a while Bellerin instead to see if he can nail a place?

    Costa -> Aguero (-4) ?

Leading mini league and the only one without Aguero. Will all likely captain. Could kill my lead. Only thing stopping me is possibility of Costa getting 2-3 goals.

I don't see Chelsea putting more than 2 past Swansea at Liberty, and I don't see Costa getting more than 1.

Aguero is a risk, but one that I would take (for -4 even).

    3. Ruth_NZ
      • 11 Years

Aguero has to score one more goal than Costa to even neutralise the hit. Aguero is unlikely to play 90 minutes and might not even start. Costa scored a hattrick last time he played Swansea.

I wouldn't even do that transfer for free myself, not this weekend. Certainly not for -4.

      1. JP787
        • 11 Years

Completely agree with your reasoning. But I just made the transfer. Purely cynical - rivals all have and will cap Aguero - only one has Costa and will not cap him. Aguero even for a hit lowers the risk.

LvG is, in a word, unpredictable. While obviously there is a good argument made that Rooney will be played at striker I still think that is far from a certainty. I'd rather see it first rather than transfer him in let alone for a hit and let alone to get rid of Costa.

Yeah, I'm torn on both those calls, especially the Downing one. Austin is a beast at home, but LVG sets them up so negative away from home.

Pulis factor re Wisdom? Away at Everton looks tougher than a home tie to Pool (without a proper striker)

            1. Walsh
              • 12 Years

Yeah I mean Austin's stats as you know have still been wonderful. He's too much of a goal threat to bench for Downing in my opinion. Everton have looked better lately but they could well struggle against the Pulis bus to break them down. I think WBA have a better chance at a clean than Villa. Liverpool looked great last weekend and I think they will handle them.

Exactly. QPR go for it at home and I expect they will score against that United defence. Problem is Hull look awful too so Downing could well be in the points as well. That'll probably be a last minute call.

If in doubt with the cheapies I tend to go with the home guy. Plus AVL's defensive stats are pretty decent this season. Could go either way also.

I'm benching C although I could live to regret it.

Thing about Downing is if he gets anything, he usually gets bonus too.

If you have a transfer to use before wildcarding, would you do Silva to Sterling, ADM, or Mirallas? Maybe even Markovic or someone?

Would be for either 1 or 2 weeks. Could also keep Silva, but his fixtures are tough

What are peoples thoughts on choosing a very cheap (3.9-4.5m) set of defenders who rotate well?
I'd only play 3 of the 5 each week and it means I can invest heavily in midfielders and forwards.

      A backline line like-

      Chelsea/Southmpton/Chambers/PVA/3.9 is ok

      • 12 Years
      11 years, 1 month ago

I was playing around with sort of that type of set up and I found it to be too risky, Manbob, though it could work. You'd likely find yourself doubling on WBA and SUN defense which may not be a bad thing. Villa and Newc will come into play...and I guess Cameron maybe. Just tough if one or even two get dropped you will have to spend precious transfers to sort it out which will be a problem.
