Gameweek 22 begins belatedly with a batch of six three o’clock encounters before Southampton’s visit to Newcastle brings the day to a close.

Fantasy managers will be concentrating their efforts on events in South Wales, where leaders Chelsea take on Swansea, and down at White Hart Lane, where Mauricio Pochettino’s rejuvenated Tottenham unit face Sunderland.

Harry Kane tops our Captain Poll, just ahead of Man City’s returning striker, Sergio Aguero. The Spurs hitman will look to extend a run of form that’s brought him six goals and three assists in as many league outings, backed by an army of new Fantasy Premier League (FPL) owners.

At the Liberty, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Diego Costa command a weighty ownership of their own, although with Aguero’s return, the latter has it all to do to maintain his current 59% level: a goal or two against Swansea would help his cause.

Elsewhere, Burnley’s Danny Ings will look to maintain his run of returns as Alan Pardew rolls up to Turf Moor with Palace. Liverpool, with Steven Gerrard out of the squad through injury, drop in on goal-shy Villa, while Leicester City host Stoke at the King Power. Down in Shepherds Bush, Louis van Gaal’s United go on the hunt for points at Loftus Road, as Charlie Austin looks to regain his London scoring boots to keep his place atop the FPL forward rankings, having blanked in the last two on home turf.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Remember:

Costa won't score like that every week. Be sensible with your transfers. We all know what a haul can do to an FPL managers head.

We should also remember that Costa is a great player and a consistent scorer

That's why I said be sensible. (Not taking -8's etc)

Ofcourse he won't, but you're making him out to be some pub striker. He's frontrunner for the golden boot, and playing with the best creator in the league for the best team in the league. He is a sensible pick,

Of course he is. But, what I'm saying, is not to ruin a team to get him in and expect those returns. One haul won't change his points that can be covered by others, which has been the counter argument all season.

Yeah agree, but there's nothing wrong with getting him in on wildcard now for e.g. if you wanted too, it would still be sensible.

Exactly. I was referring to people like me who didn't get him on the WC and taking hits to bring in. The reasons are still significant as to why I chose against him. It was a freak game. My alternative, Ings, would've out scored him, had he delivered his usual 1 goal no BAPS.

i too xfered him out for aguero. planned to get fab next week to cover the points.

thing is, if you arent going to captain costa, should he be there at all ?

having said that, i am thinking of w/c now instead of last minute, to get him back! kneejerk? maybe

potential wild card team i'm activating tonight to get price rises and avoid drops....

    Foster myhill
    pva - wisdom - clyne - hutton - janmaat
    hazard - ADM - Puncheon - sanchez - boyd/mahrez
    Aguero - kane - costa

Or i can go sterling pele for puncheon and costa
or get sturridge instead of costa.

    Thoughts? Thanks

WC a disaster so far: Costa > Rooney, ouch! Punchy on the bench, noooo!

    Should I:

A: Stick it out, play Rooney at home to Leicester, and upgrade Sterling > Fab as planned (£1.3M ITB)
B: Accept I was wrong, and use some of the cash ITB to reverse the transfer (ie Rooney > Costa)

    Foster/Myhill
    Terry, Clyne, Trippier/PVA, Wazza
    Haz,Sanchez, Sterling, Punchy/Boydo
    Kane, Aguero, Rooney

I can't think of many players, off the top of my head, who had a career marked by consistently scoring one goal every other game, but never scoring more than one.

Yet twice this season that kind of logic has crept in - most recently with Costa and his supposed inability to get big hauls, but also earlier in the season where people were saying the same thing about Aguero (who then promptly scored four in one game). There's a lesson there about not reading trends into things that are just random circumstance.

haha but there are plenty of cheap strikers doing the job weekly...maybe they lack the explosiveness but they are also half priced
