Gameweek 22 begins belatedly with a batch of six three o’clock encounters before Southampton’s visit to Newcastle brings the day to a close.

Fantasy managers will be concentrating their efforts on events in South Wales, where leaders Chelsea take on Swansea, and down at White Hart Lane, where Mauricio Pochettino’s rejuvenated Tottenham unit face Sunderland.

Harry Kane tops our Captain Poll, just ahead of Man City’s returning striker, Sergio Aguero. The Spurs hitman will look to extend a run of form that’s brought him six goals and three assists in as many league outings, backed by an army of new Fantasy Premier League (FPL) owners.

At the Liberty, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Diego Costa command a weighty ownership of their own, although with Aguero’s return, the latter has it all to do to maintain his current 59% level: a goal or two against Swansea would help his cause.

Elsewhere, Burnley’s Danny Ings will look to maintain his run of returns as Alan Pardew rolls up to Turf Moor with Palace. Liverpool, with Steven Gerrard out of the squad through injury, drop in on goal-shy Villa, while Leicester City host Stoke at the King Power. Down in Shepherds Bush, Louis van Gaal’s United go on the hunt for points at Loftus Road, as Charlie Austin looks to regain his London scoring boots to keep his place atop the FPL forward rankings, having blanked in the last two on home turf.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Worth sacrificing the defence/bench to get this front 7? Alternative would be to downgrade 1 of ADM/Wally and bring in the likes of Clyne & P Jones

    Krul
    Terry, Wisdom, PVA
    Sanchez, Hazard, ADM, Walcott
    Aguero, Costa, Kane

    Elliot, Wasilewski, Baird, Albrighton

I want to buy Walcott so very badly, but I don't really think that's a great idea right now. You have no bench cover for him, and we're not even sure he'll start week in week out.

I don't think Theo's worth sacrifising your bench and defence as long as he remains a question mark. Plenty of decent cheap/mid-priced options, would downgrade him to buff up Elliot/Baird/Albrighton at least.

Apart from kicking yourself and/or drowning your sorrows, what are last week's Costa sellers planning to do?

I did Costa > Rooney last night on WC, but left money ITB (which was earmarked for a Sterling upgrade), so I can easily reverse the trade without a hit.

But is Rooney > Costa a sensible transfer (ie. admit mistake, fix, move on), or just knee-jerky? I'm leaning towards doing it, but would be interested to know what other folks are doing.

PS: Had Punchy on bench too, so you can guess how I'm feeling!

I would never admit a mistake. I would drown in my stubbornness.

For reals though, Costa plays City and Rooney plays Leicester, seems rash to swap.

You probably had a good reason to get Rooney instead of Costa, don't let a single game change that decision.

      1. Indio
        • 14 Years

Thanks for feedback fellas: Yep did Costa > Rooney due to 'those Man U fixtures' and usual arguments about the Chelsea man (which now seem ridiculous), and to free CHE slot to bring in Fab to midfield. Was also looking for a differential on WC, as ML leader has Costa, and I've recently slipped from 5K to 19K. Got a differential alright, just in the wrong direction! Live and learn, eh?

I've always been a Costa man myself, but of course there are some valid arguments against him so I can see why you did what you did. I Hope for your sake that Rooney makes use of those kind fixtures.
