Gameweek 22 begins belatedly with a batch of six three o’clock encounters before Southampton’s visit to Newcastle brings the day to a close.

Fantasy managers will be concentrating their efforts on events in South Wales, where leaders Chelsea take on Swansea, and down at White Hart Lane, where Mauricio Pochettino’s rejuvenated Tottenham unit face Sunderland.

Harry Kane tops our Captain Poll, just ahead of Man City’s returning striker, Sergio Aguero. The Spurs hitman will look to extend a run of form that’s brought him six goals and three assists in as many league outings, backed by an army of new Fantasy Premier League (FPL) owners.

At the Liberty, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Diego Costa command a weighty ownership of their own, although with Aguero’s return, the latter has it all to do to maintain his current 59% level: a goal or two against Swansea would help his cause.

Elsewhere, Burnley’s Danny Ings will look to maintain his run of returns as Alan Pardew rolls up to Turf Moor with Palace. Liverpool, with Steven Gerrard out of the squad through injury, drop in on goal-shy Villa, while Leicester City host Stoke at the King Power. Down in Shepherds Bush, Louis van Gaal’s United go on the hunt for points at Loftus Road, as Charlie Austin looks to regain his London scoring boots to keep his place atop the FPL forward rankings, having blanked in the last two on home turf.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Very similar to me. I have Austin instead of Ings and was looking at going to Giroud. Just relax - lots of matches before the next GW. By then original plan might look good.

My problem is that I also have Cameron and Gardos so might need to burn -4...

I've had enough of this now. My last six captain picks compared to my highest scoring attacking player:

    4 Rooney (Austin 17)
12 Hazzard - still lowest scoring attacker (Rooney 16)
    4 Austin (Siggy 8)
    4 Silva (Costa 6)
    6 Hazzard (Sanchez 19)
    4 Kane (Costa 13)

    Captains picked: 34
    Could've been: 158

Anyone else been as hopeless at me at selecting the armband?

I've been pretty awful, but broke the curse this week with Eriksen, although if Aguero does the business it will end up a fail anyhow... Just remember, when you fail, it's bad luck/the captain poll's fault, but when you succeed it's because you're a genius.

Wildcard now or wait a week?

    Current team:
    Adrian - Jakupovic
    Clyne - Zabaleta - Fazio - Wisdom - Hutton
    Sanchez - Hazard - Silva - Sterling - Downing
    Aguero - Kane - Austin

I want these in: Pantillimon, Krul, Ivanovic, Eriksen and Costa
For: Adrian, Jakupovic, Zabaleta, Sterling and Austin

I'm also looking to get another defender instead of Fazio, and I might transfer out Downing and Silva.

    1. Ruth_NZ
      • 11 Years
      11 years, 3 months ago

It looks to me that now is the time for that squad. 2 x W Ham players with a poorish fixture next GW, I'd lose Downing on WC as well. Zabaleta same. Austin has come to the end of his run of goals IMO. Sterling could be kept or changed, the choice between him and Eriksen is 50/50 IMO and you already have Kane.

This wildcard last 2 weeks so more time to try to play around and get a 0.2 rise somewhere also. And you'll know about the C1C final and which teams will have a blank weekend in GW 27 by the time the wildcard expires.

Fabregas? Iniesta? I also wouldn't call Tadic slow, and he showed off a few tricks in Holland, but I would never judge a player on his 'tricks', more what comes of them. I'm sure every professional player from John Terry to Robert Green could pull off some unbelievable skills in training.

Not comparable to Cesc either. Iniesta OK but he aint half the player. It takes tricky play to keep the ball/create as a #10. Silva is one of the least flashy but he's so good because he has that in his locker.

Fabregas played 10 for Arsenal, inside forward/10 for Barcelona (on occasion) and this place goes crazy when he plays 10 for Chelsea.
Maybe we differ on what counts as a 'trick', but I wouldn't say Silva shows off many, if any. He has a lovely touch, but I don't think Tadic has a poor touch by any means.
