The final day of the winter transfer window was largely uneventful, with only Chelsea prepared to spend big to bolster their title bid. Here’s a quick rundown on the main deals that went through by 11pm, with Scout Reports and Moving Target features to follow over the next few days.

Juan Cuadrado – Fiorentina to Chelsea
With Andre Schurrle leaving for Wolfsburg earlier in the day, Jose Mourinho boosted his options in the final third by snapping up the Colombian from Fiorentina as Mo Salah headed out to the Serie A side on loan. Versatile enough to play in any of the three attacking midfield slots, Cuadrado’s best hopes of barging into the Blues’ first XI could be on the right flank at the expense of Willian, who has managed just a single goal and assist in 22 league appearances. Cuadrado arrives on the back of four goals and as many assists in Serie A this season but whilst he may manage to get past Willian on the right, he faces a tougher challenge to oust Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Oscar in our Fantasy affections. Coming in at 8.5, he’s slightly more expensive than Oscar (8.4) ahead of showdowns against Villa, Everton and Burnley in the next three.

Robert Huth – Stoke to Leicester
Having played just four minutes for Stoke this season, it’s fair to say that a loan move to the King Power Stadium should boost the German’s chances of greater pitch time. The Foxes have been far from resilient so far and managed just four clean sheets – given that skipper Wes Morgan has played all but one league match, there’s a fear that the 4.7-priced Huth’s arrival could threaten Marcin Wasilewski’s run of 14 straight starts and potentially deprive us of a 4.0-priced starter in our 15-man squads. Banned for Gameweek 24, Huth then faces three difficult road trips (ars, eve, mci) with a blank Gameweek 27 prior to his visit to the Etihad. With three goals and an assist to his name, though, Jeffrey Schlupp’s out of position potential on the left flank has already served up three goals and the Ghanaian, at 4.5, is the most appealing option here.

Wilfried Zaha and Lee Chung-yong – Man United and Bolton to Crystal Palace
Zaha’s loan deal at Selhurst Park was made permanent by Alan Pardew after he failed to convince at United, whilst Lee joins in a deal that sees Barry Bannan move to the Reebok on loan. Despite praising Zaha’s recent loan displays, the new Eagles boss has started him in just one of his first three Gameweeks in charge and turned to the 5.1-priced midfielder as an impact sub late on in matches. Although Yannick Bolasie could potentially still be out of the picture for two more league outings, Pardew also has Dwight Gayle and Jason Puncheon offering alternatives out wide, suggesting Zaha and Lee face a struggle to nail down a spot in the XI. For now, Puncheon’s two goals and an assist in three under Pardew has made the biggest impression. Over 85,000 snapped him up last week ahead of upcoming clashes with Leicester, Newcastle, West Ham and QPR in the next six, though the Eagles’ numerous options out wide clearly offer Pardew the option to chop and change.

Filip Duricic – Benfica to Southampton
Having sold Jack Cork to Swansea on Friday, Ronald Koeman bolstered his central midfield options by acquiring the Serbian on loan from Benfica until the end of the season. An attacking midfielder, Duricic has fallen out of favour at his parent club and failed to impress at a loan stint with Mainz 05 earlier this season, with no goals or assists over 11 appearances. His arrival merely adds to Koeman’s options out wide, though, and with Dusan Tadic, Sadio Mane and Eljero Elia all vying for the spots on the flanks, Duricic faces a tough task to break into the Saints’ XI.

Aaron Lennon – Tottenham to Everton
Roberto Martinez bolstered his attacking options by snapping up the Tottenham winger on loan until the end of the season. A peripheral figure at the Lane, Lennon has played just eight minutes from Gameweek 15 onwards and he’ll be hoping a move to Goodison can reignite his flagging career. At 6.2, he’s cheaper than Kevin Mirallas and Ross Barkley, but with the likes of Aiden McGeady and Steven Naismith also offering Roberto Martinez options on the right, it remains to be seen whether he can nail down a regular role in his new surrounds.

Davide Santon – Newcastle to Inter Milan
The Italian’s loan return to his native country lessens the competition at left-back for Newcastle under John Carver. Santon has failed to break into the Magpies’ XI since recovering from injury and the new man in charge has instead turned to Massadio Haidara in the last two matches. At just 4.1, Haidara strengthened his case for a regular role by serving up an assist in the weekend win at Hull, serving up an 11-point return in the process. Next up, it’s Stoke, Palace and Villa in the following four.

    Hey Guys,

Im just outside the top 1000 and looking to break in!

My WC team currently looks like this,

    Any advice?

    De Gea (Myhill)
    Bellerin Clyne Wisdom Tippier Bruce
    ERiksen DIMaria Hazard Carzola Downing
    Giroud Austin Aguero

    Things im not sure about

Keeper combination, has anyone the excel sheet that works out what the best keeper combo is?

Bruce, does he even start anymore?

Di maria, will he hit form, maybe

    Any other thoughts gents?

I still don't trust Utd's defence enought to keep clean sheets. I mean they couldn't even manage one at home against the league's bottom side. DDG too exp in that case. Think about Foster, Panti or even Forster. Look for the wildcard keeper combo articles in both the FFS and community archives.

Same goes for Trippier unless you're looking for a real punt but Burnley are crap. Bruce as a filler may work - back from injury and don't know if he's certain to nail down a spot, otherwise there's Targett for 3.9.

Downing has bad fixtures. Maybe consider someone like JWP, Adam Johnson.

Better off going with Kane over Austin.

If Sanchez is back this weekend I'm worried about Wally pitch time, worth a - 4 to bring in Caz instead if Sanchez does play?

May be worth it given the form Arsenal are in. But away to Spurs won't be easy. Thinking of doing the same myself though on WC.

Any thoughts on this team folks?

    Foster Myhill

    Aguero Sturridge Kane

Dont see the need to double up on Kane and Eriksen myself, their fixtures arent great, they miss a gw, you dont need both.
I like Austin upfront in kanes spot for example.

Similarly not sure about both silva and aguero, one united maybe (nice ish fixtures)

Who is targett, who is jwp?

Have you put much thought into your keepers?

        Thanks for the suggestions.

Agree that its a good idea to keep one spurs for the sake of the blank week.

City at home to Hull looks mouth watering which is why I considered it. Could be a massive gw for city and the two of them. But other alternatives are ADM and Sterling.

Targett is possibly Bertrand's replacement for the next few weeks. Only 3.9. So technically hes my 5th defender. Hardly a bad one.

JWP is james ward prowse. 5th mid. On corners and freekicks and played in the hole last week and has been playing regularly when fit. 7 assists. Only 4.8

I have put thought into my keepers. WBA have goodish fixtures till GW 34 after which I can draft in a replacement.

Prefer the 3-4-3. 3 attackers + JT blanking in GW27 not ideal. Unless you use transfers to shift them out that week...but feel that's a waste.

Would prefer 5th mid like Ameobi to come on for that week rather than Ayoze too.

Think my team needs quite a lot of work it can't decide on my priority?

    A) Bertrand out (will be transferring out this week or next anyway)
    B) Wasi (reasonable fixture, but will be getting rid with blank coming up)
    C) Baird (get rid or wait to see if he regains place)
    D) Downing (bought for low price but shocking fixtures, upgrade to Caz or Oscar)

    Forster/ hamer
    Ivan/Bertrand/wisdom/Baird/wasi
    Hazard/Sanchez/Sterling/Downing/Boyd
    Kun/Kane/Giroud

      Tough.

Jones - can see a West Ham goal

Kosc - NLD normally a goal-fest, chance of a goal.

      PVA my pick.

How are WC'ers handling the DGWs.

    I'm thinking I go with
    - 2 Chelsea (Ivan + hazard) because they have great next 3
    - 2 spurs (Kane + Erik) because they have certain dgw28

One of my FTs prior to 27 will be to either
    1) take Erik out if Chelsea do have a DGW
    2) take Ivan out if Chelsea don't have a DGW

I will also have 2 ft to take into week 28

This way if Chelsea don't have a DGW I can have 3 spurs and Austin without taking a hit

    Good strategy?

Going Haz + Terry + Kane until then. Hopefully be able to save up 2 FTs for GW28, Eriksen + Lloris/Rose would come in for GW28 for Silva/def.

Can't afford silva over Erik so not an option. It's really between sterling and Erik for that 4th Mf

That would mean you're holding onto Austin until then? He's woefully off form though, but still decent value. I can afford Silva over Eriksen so i'm going that route.

But yea, Sterling and Eriksen both good picks for 4th mid! Depends on your strategy. Personally don't want to plan too many transfers. Bound to backfire ğŸ™

Seems like the WC is a poisoned chalice. Those who used WC last week have more problems than before they used their WC, having now to get rid of Baird, Cahill, Gardos, Bertrand Costa ADM that they brought in last week. These players were all the rage prior to the weekend.

Position before wildcard = top 9k

I think that doubling up on Arsenal Midfield is just daft. They won't have a game like they did against Villa this season. This reminds me of when Saints beat Sunderland 8-0 and everyone was going crazy for Saints in here. People need to calm down a little. There are many other mid options coming into form that people are ignoring.....

2 of Sanchez/Caz/Walcott/Ozil + 2 of Silva/Sterling/Hazard seems to be the midfield template.

Which other mid options coming into form are you referring to?

Eriksen is on plenty of watchlists for GW28, just that the upcoming fixtures don't look too great and the blank in 27 is a concern.

Che, Ars, City surely have more appealing fixtures than Sterling til then too.

All are good options. No need to call people daft imo.

I'm not at all ignorant. It seems that you are the ignorant one by judging someone that you do not know. Pretty sure we haven't doubled up in one teams midfield in the last couple of seasons with any success so I'm not ignorant in suggesting that it's daft.

Earlier in the season, Ramsey + Ozil.

No such thing as coverage when players are in good form. Coverage with good form players is also statistically more likely to bring you a great score.

So you agree with me the idea of coverage is bullsh!t. Well the flip side of that bullsh!t is the idea that having two or three players from one club affects their points potential individually.
Having sanchez in your fpl team has no affect on cazorla getting goals and assists on the pitch

        Bertrand > Yoshida
        Chadli > Sterling

Bertrand > Yoshida -- Do Bertrand --> Toby and start PvA and Wisdom this week
Chadli > Sterling -- Do this move or can look at Mane as well (can you afford Silva?)
Di Maria > Silva -- Can give ADM another week

  25. Arsenal Defender BPM
    Nickofoz
    • Fantasy Football Scout Member

    11 years, 3 months ago

With Arsenal defenders being the talk of the town at the moment I though I'd calculate the baseline BPM for each (even the not-so-nailed-on ones)

    Mertesacker: 0.180
    Kosc: 0.171
Bellerin: 0.172 (smaller sample size of 500 minutes, though)
    Monreal: 0.188
    Gibbs: 0.162
    Chambers: 0.166

So Monreal is the clear winner with Mertesacker in second, and Bellerin third only just before Kosc. However, Monreal is probably the least nailed-on. Kosc seems to be the popular option on here but maybe Mertesacker is being overlooked at only 0.1 extra? (Similar to people overlooking Fonte for the likes of Clyne/Bertrand).

        Yep. 285 - (2goals x 12) - (6clean sheets x 12) = 189

        189 / 1105 minutes = 0.171

    Panti (Krul)
Terry / Clyne / Wisdom (Cameron / Hutton)
Hazard / Sanchez / ADM / Chadli (JWP)
    Kane / Giroud / Aguero

    B) Cameron > PVA

    Hi Guys,

Would appreciate your thoughts on my proposed WC team:

    Krul / Foster

    PVA Terry Naughton* Wollscheid Hutton**

Di Maria Sanchez*** Hazard Silva 4.5m (poss Ameobi)

    Aguero Giroud Kane

*Is he nailed? I do have N taylor at present, but prefer cheaper Naughton
**Have .2 value gained but could bin
***If Sanchez is out, he will become Cazorla (who I currently have anyway)

My plan would then be Silva/Di Maria > Sanchez once he is back.

What do you think guys? Pretty template but solid?

Have a second WC for GW 27/28
